It’s a painful day here in the CatBox, and this is my only article. I don’t know whether this is a side effect of the inflammation from my treatment or a sign that my disease is getting worse, but I feel completely worn out; I am still having trouble eating, because my esophagus feels raw; and my back pain is worse. Tonight is a WWWendy night. What I do tomorrow will have to depend on how I feel. Tuesday is flush your Republicans day, and I’m sure I’ll be making a throne run before I publish this (success).

From NY Times: The top communications official at the powerful cabinet department in charge of combating the coronavirus made outlandish and false accusations on Sunday that career government scientists were engaging in “sedition” in their handling of the pandemic and that left-wing hit squads were preparing for armed insurrection after the election.

Michael R. Caputo, the assistant secretary of public affairs at the Department of Health and Human Services, accused the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of harboring a “resistance unit” determined to undermine President Trump, even if that opposition bolsters the Covid-19 death toll.

Mr. Caputo, who has faced intense criticism for leading efforts to warp C.D.C. weekly bulletins to fit Mr. Trump’s pandemic narrative, suggested that he personally could be in danger from opponents of the administration. “If you carry guns, buy ammunition, ladies and gentlemen, because it’s going to be hard to get,” he urged his followers.

He went further, saying his physical health was in question, and his “mental health has definitely failed.”

It’s a busy day, here in the CatBox, and I feel very tired. I overslept. The goop experiment I suggested to WWWendy Saturday was a total failure, and the resulting tumor-clog irritated the hell out of my esophagus, so the last two days have been painful. I thoroughly enjoyed my zoom meeting with my volunteer friends and some of my guys that have been released. I had a hard time recognizing them in street clothes, as I’ve never seen then in anything but prison blue and orange. My meeting with Diana was routine. The heat wave is over, and I have 10 days in the 70s and some 60s. Tonight my Broncos meditate on the Holy Ellipsoid Orb on Monday Night Football. I shall be in fervent prayer. Oh God! It’s Monday!

From The New Yorker: Questions arose after the P.A. system at a Trump rally in Nevada accidentally blasted excerpts from Bob Woodward’s interviews with the President.

As supporters streamed into the rally, the customary sounds of such classic rock songs as “Fortunate Son” and “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” were supplanted by audio of Trump acknowledging that the coronavirus was far deadlier than a flu.

After Trump was heard revealing the details of a previously secret weapons program, campaign aides frantically disconnected the P.A. system and started scrambling for an explanation.

LOL, Andy! Obviously this didn’t really happen, but just the thought of it happening is sufficient to provoke wet dreams! RESIST!!

From Crooks and Liars: Fresh on the heels of spreading hoax rumors about “antifa buses” coming to rural towns to create mayhem, right-wing conspiracists eager to spread the narrative about the supposed existential threat posed by black-clad antifascist activists have a hot new fraud for their armies of gullible social-media followers: The forest fires raging along the West Coast from California to Washington are an antifa plot!

The rumors—spread first by far-right activists, then parroted by followers living in areas where the fires are raging—claim that a handful of arrests for arson in unrelated fires are proof that the fires are being coordinated by leftists intending harm to befall rural Trump-supporting regions. “It’s the antifa burning EVERYTHING down!” shrieked one QAnon believer who chimed in on Twitter.

Among the leading spreaders of the false rumors is a right-wing online publication catering to police officers, Law Enforcement Today, which posted an article claiming that the “wildfires on the West Coast may be a ‘coordinated and planned’ attack.”

“Law enforcement throughout the west coast is reportedly being put on alert to look out for ‘opportunists’ and those who may have more sinister motives,” the article claimed. It then went on to list six arson incidents either related to the fires or in their general vicinity, but offered no evidence that they were coordinated in any fashion.

Of course there is no evidence that this is true and ample evidence that lightning strikes ignited the fires. The biggest danger to spreading garbage like this is that it will inspire a few QPoop wing-nuts to light fires and blame them on the left. RESIST!!

It’s a busy day here in the CatBox. This morning, I have a videoconference on Zoom with prison volunteer coworkers and former prisoners with whom I worked, and who are now living productive lives as members of the community. I’m so proud of my guys! You can tell I must love them, because I’m missing part of opening weekend, a high holy day in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb. It feels very strange, because this is the first season I haven’t played fantasy football in this century. At any rate, this is my only article today. I hope to have more tomorrow, depending on how much time I spend with Diana, my home palliative care nurse. Have a fine day.

From NY Times: Well before his move to the Department of Homeland Security, Brian Murphy had become known as an ambitious counterterrorism investigator at the F.B.I., determined and relentless. At times, though, colleagues chafed at what some saw as an overzealous disregard for bureaucratic rules.

All of those traits may have been at play this week when Mr. Murphy, a career law enforcement officer, became a whistle-blower.

The Department of Homeland Security was built after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, 19 years ago Friday, to keep federal, state and local governments coordinated on national security threats. But in his whistle-blower complaint, Mr. Murphy, the department’s former intelligence chief, said its senior leaders directed him to do the opposite: play down the primary national security threats of white supremacy and Russian election interference, thus distorting intelligence to mirror President Trump’s messaging.

The allegations, coming less than two months before Election Day, add to the growing evidence that Mr. Trump has prioritized his own political goals over the word of his intelligence officials, and that the Homeland Security Department has become an instrument of his personal will. Mr. Murphy’s complaint reflects the current turmoil at homeland security and is another front in Mr. Trump’s battle with the government’s intelligence agencies.

It’s a busy day, here in the CatBox. Debora just called and she’ll be here in a few minutes. She just left, and for a dead man, I’m in good shape. I’m still very tired, and my back hasn’t recovered from Wednesday. However, I’m in the saddle today, because my 9/11 article is too important not to publish. It’s a busy, exhausted day here in the CatBox. Yesterday’s test infusion went as exspected. However, I did get some news that may be good. I had thought that my difficulty eating was a sign that my esophageal cancer is getting worse. That may be true. However, if my immune system is attacking the tumor, which is how this drug is supposed to work, it could cause the tumor to swell, just as any wound swells when one’s immune system is healing it. So my trouble eating could also be a sign that the drug is working. Time will tell. Either way, if if the tumor closes to the extent that I cannot eat, I’ll have to get a stent quickly. Tomorrow Deborah is coming for my routine doctor visit. What I do tomorrow will depend on how long that takes and how I feel. This is my only article today. Have a fine day. Last night on the way home from my cancer treatment my eyes stung, and the sky was orange-brown. I could look directly at the sun, and it was red. WWWendy was worried that she might have to evacuate. She had been notified that her house is in a Level 1 area. Thank God she didn’t have to go! I can see from my window that we still have heavy smoke, but the wind has abated, so that will help the firefighters. The extreme severity of the wildfires this year is a result of how the Republican Reich ignores climate change and opposes green energy. RESIST!!

It’s a hectic day here in the CatBox. I have the AC working, but I have to babysit it. I lost the washer in my portable O₂ unit, and Providence Medical Equipment will deliver one this moaning. I’ll be scarce for the next few days. Please expect no more than a daily Personal Update before Monday. Tomorrow I have to take the TriMet Lift Bus to to the hospital for my second infusion in 90°+ weather. Because of WWWendy’s work schedule, I had to schedule the appointment for 3:20 PM. I’ll nap during the morning. WWWendy will pick me up at 5:30. When we get home at around 6:00 PM, we still have a whole normal WWWendy day to do. I’ll be exhausted and will get to bed way late. I may be too worn out to do more Thursday. Friday Deborah, the Providence Home Health doctor is coming for a routine visit. Saturday is a morning WWWendy day. Sunday I’m meeting with several prison volunteer coworkers and former prisoners on Zoom. If I can do more, I will, but I’ll be busier than a long-tail TomCat in a rocking chair showroom. Tuesday is flush your Republicans day. Flush fast. They’re sneaky as hell. Oh God, it’s Tuesday!

She was so convincing that several groups of far-right activists later showed up at the American Embassy and demanded an audience with Mr. Trump. “We know he’s in there!” they insisted.

Mr. Trump was neither in the embassy nor in Germany that day — and yet there he was. His face was emblazoned on banners, T-shirts and even on Germany’s pre-1918 imperial flag, popular with neo-Nazis in the crowd of 50,000 who had come to protest Germany’s pandemic restrictions. His name was invoked by many with messianic zeal.

It was only the latest evidence that Mr. Trump is emerging as a kind of cult figure in Germany’s increasingly varied far-right scene.

As much as the Republican Reich tries to claim that Trump* is not a Nazi, even foreign Nazis know who their Fuhrer is! RESIST!!
