Meidas Touch parody (“Drivers License”)

NBC – TODAY – posted without comment

Nancy’s remarks on MCConnell. She is REALLY angry. This is the nearest I have evre heard her to incoherent (not that it’s very near, but less organized than usual.)

Parody Project – As a big fan of Gilbert and Sullivan, I really love this one. (TC, close your eyes and pretend the picture’s a dog.)

This should help to rehabilitate cats’ image from the parody.

Beau – This has kind of gotten lost in the trial news, but if it should happen, it could be good for us.

Keith from yesterday – I love Keith, but he is not being realistic about this.

There are so many awful Senators getting so much attention, it’s too easy to overlook the real heroes there ( especially if they aren’t our own)

Aaron Rupar tweet – This is from a long thread. I finally figured out how to embed just part of it, but it’s still more than I wanted. I was trying for just the second one. (They do have CC, though.) Statehood for USVI! Stacey Plaskett for Senator!

Such a nice tweet – three things – Dr. Jill’s Valentine display – two wonderful woozles – and Joe’s thoughtfulness (even as he berates himself for being slow.) No CC – but the discussion is about their getting Major at least in part to keep Champ exercising. Then a reporter (I think) says “If you come back next Friday I’ll bring the donuts,” and then President Biden goes over to her to share the warm coffee on this cold day.

The Alt-Right Playbook – The Card Says Moops

A parody headphone commercial fron The Daily Show. Nice.

A John Fugelsang allgory

Beau – This is kind of under the radar, but I think worth considering.

Now This News – The Importance of MLK Day. Yes, that’s MLK III.

The New Yorker – 12-minute video from the Capitol Coup. H/T Nameless https://www.democraticunderground.com/emoticons/hattip.gif

This video, or I should say group of videos, from ProPublica was curated from video clips downloaded from Parler before it went dark. It’s designed to provide an immersive experience (which I consider a trigger warning – and they also provide one.) The way it is presented, I really can’t embed it, but I give the link. It is ordered into a timeline and grouped based on general location the videos were taken from. You can pick a location, or click anywhere in the timeline, or scroll down (it’s a very long scroll.) You may have to take some of them off of mute (or vice versa.)

Oh, this is delicious.

Long, but interesting. Not exactly full of laughs … but it does suggest some pretty funny scenarios, including regarding Presidential Libraries.

MLKDay

It was a pleasure to work with Dr. King on Vietnam Summer.  Of all the people I have met in my life, he stands head and shoulders above the rest.

In addition to I Have a Dream, you should also watch Beyond Vietnam.  I was in Riverside Baptist Church.  After the speech, we formed the organizing committee for Vietnam Summer.  The policies he outlined are what we are still fighting to achieve today and challenged the far right to murder him.

I trust that this is the first time Dr. King has observed this remembrance washout grieving since 2013. I rejoice that he is rejoicing today!
