In March, Politics Plus improved significantly in every category except KBytes.  That’s because we has less video content, due to our attempt to use videos that can be seen worldwide,.

Here is our latest summary:

usage3-2014

Stats3-2014

In the monthly totals, a Site is any website from which someone accessed our server, a Hit is every access attempt to our server, and a File is every access attempt to our server that returned data.  The difference between Hits and Files is from access attempts that were sent in error or damaged in transit and failed attempts by hackers, spammers, phishers, and Republicans to access the back end and take control of the site.  Any questions?

Here is our latest Clustrmap:

Map3-2013

This is the new reset map that I told you would look naked.  It shows only the visits from March 2 to March 29.

Here are are top five articles:

Jane Smiley: Capitalist Pigs (1/17/2010)
Rachel Maddow: Why We Did It (3/8/2014)
Bill Maher–New Rules–3/1 (3/3/2014)
Why Fox Is Banned in Canada (3/7/2011)
Republicans Still Love Their Pootie! (3/5/2014)

I’m pleased that three articles from March included with two from past years.

Here are our top non-blog/news referrers.

Google (3,178)
Care2 (2,198)
Stumbleupon (653)
Microsoft Bing (132)
Yahoo! (116)

Care2 was significantly down, a disappointment, because we posted more articles there in March, but Stumbleupon was up, thanks to Richard (Rixar),  Search engines are finally starting to take notice.

We have 268,642 links on other websites.

Our Technorati rating is 113, unchanged from last month, but still low on the B list.  These ratings yo-yo and do not depend on our traffic or our overall links, but only links on sites registered with and recognized by Technorati.  If only Care2 would register their front page of C2NN news with Technorati, we’d be A list again every month, once I started posting in sufficient quantity to justify it.

As of Midnight, April 1, we have 4,775 articles and 51,603 comments.

I had to make one change.  Where I used to live, my living conditions debilitated me so much that I rarely got out and had little to do inside from lack of facilities.  All I had to do was blog.  Now I am capable of doing more to take care of myself, but that also takes more time.  I used to reply to every single comment here, even if it was just an acknowledgement.  Now, I’m replying to every thread, but replying only to individual comments when I have something to add.  If you have noticed this and felt ignored, that is certainly not my intent, and I trust you now understand, now that you know why.

The 2014 elections are only six months away.  Republicans want to transform our nation into a totalitarian plutocracy.  They want a permanent, one-party regime in which elections exist for show only.  We must work together to stop them.

Our improved performance last month was because of you.  Thank you for everything you do, here and elsewhere.

We see Republicans running further and further to the right, and rejoice, because the further right they go, the more voters they alienate.  We need to maximize gains while we can, because it will change as soon as primary season ends.  At that point they will shift to the center.  If elected they will continue the same extreme policies, and their war against the American poor and middle classes will continue, but they will move heaven and earth to fool voters.  For the most part, media will parrot their lies, so we need to stand ready to confront them with the truth and to educate and energize voters.  Thank you for everything you do to make Politics Plus part of that effort.

In January, Politics Plus remained dead slow, because for most of the month, I was ill or doing volunteer work.  Nevertheless, we had an increase from December in every category, except Page Views.  There were so many days that I posted only an Open Thread that readers had little need to change pages to comment on multiple articles.

We have 241,147 links on other websites.  For a couple years now, I’ve been reporting well over one million external links.  Today I discovered that, because of the way I set up the site originally to preserve front end flexibility, it appears to Google Webmaster Tools that most of our internal links are external.  I just learned how to separate them out. and I apologize for over reporting it for so long.  I assure you that I never intended to deceive you.

We are hard pressed in an election year, and Republicans are going all out to deceive people into voting for them and prevent people they can’t fool from voting.  If they can’t do that they will try to fool people into thinking their vote does not matter and staying home or wasting their vote on a candidate with no chance to win.  However, they have given is many tools we can use to defeat them.  One is to make the minimum wage an issue in state and local elections, not just federal.  We must press on!

I’m writing this for tomorrow and running several hours behind where I hoped to be.  I asked a stupid question, when prompted to download and install new drivers for my new graphics card (the reason for my improved puzzle times).  I asked, how long can that take?  It took almost three hours.  ARGH!  I also renewed the HSP service for the servers, where Politics Plus resides, locking in a lower price through mid 2015.  Tomorrow and Sunday are high holy days in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb.  My Broncos won’t be worshiping, as the earned the right to honor the LGBT community with a bi week, but I shall be meditating on the other services.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 2:34 (average 4:16).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Media Matters: The trial of former News Corp. employees for their role in the massive phone hacking scandal has already produced several noteworthy revelations, including the hacking of voicemails from the British royal family, a six figure contract between News Corp. and its phone-hacking private investigator, and more alleged phone hacking victims, including actor Jude Law.

Former News International editors and executives Rebekah Brooks,Andy Coulson, and Stuart Kuttner are on trial in England for conspiring to intercept the communications of news figures, celebrities and public officials. All four deny the charges. The trial of another executive, Ian Edmonson, has been postponed due to medical issues.

The hacked voicemails were used as the basis for stories in Rupert Murdoch’s News of the World tabloid, which was shuttered in July 2011 after details of the scandal came out. News International is a part of News Corp., the parent company of the Wall Street Journal and a sister company to 21st Century Fox, which owns Fox News.

Click through for the juicy details. You can take it to the bank that, if Murdoch has been doing that in the UK, he’s been doing it everywhere. There needs to be an in-depth investigation of all News Corp outlets in the US, especially the Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda, Faux Noise, and Faux Print, aka the WSJ.

From Alternet: Know what? If you had told me, a month ago, that the Christian Right would have a strong reaction to a bearded religious zealot in a headscarf urging men to take child brides, I’d have believed that. And I would have believed that the man’s family would go on Fox News to defend him, but I would have assumed they were doing it from a bunker somewhere, with voice filters and behind a screen … not in the studio on New Year’s Eve.

Yet this is how things are playing out in the aftermath of footage [Faux Noise delinked] showing Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson advising young men to "marry … girls when they are about 15 or 16", after, of course, "making sure she can cook a meal". "You need to eat some meals that she cooks. Check that out," he said to an audience at a Christian retreat in 2009. "Make sure she carries her Bible," he added. "That will save you trouble down the road."

This is so extreme that I wondered at it’s authenticity, but I found this:

This is the Republican hero.

From Think Progress: The cost to combat systemic racial profiling of Latinos by an anti-immigration sheriff’s office will cost taxpayers more than $20 million over the next two years, according to documents submitted by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office in Arizona. Under a federal judge’s May 2013 ruling, Sheriff Joe Arpaio and his officers must implement changes, like improving training and technology equipment, to show that the sheriff’s office will no longer systemically single out Latinos during traffic and immigration stops.

The estimated $21.9 million price tag of the court recommendations includes a seven-member unit “to implement changes recommended by the court order,” additional vehicles, mounted cameras (for the patrol vehicles), radios (to call in the reason for stopping a driver before officers can approach a stopped vehicle), equipment to record all stops with audio and video, supplies for the unit, salaries, and employee benefits.

No doubt the Brewerstan Death Angel, Jan Brewer, infamous for killing people, whose life-saving transplants had already been scheduled, by kicking them off Medicaid, must be undone that her favorite pet racist is in trouble.

I congratulate you all on winning the Republican Shutdown.  As much as they harmed us all, we got to watch they cave-in.  The 2014 elections are now a year away, and our job is to separate every Republican from public office that we can.  A big part of that is keeping people informed by exposing the Republican lies that media usually slip right by.  Thank you for everything you do.  Our success is your success, and thank you for making it happen!

In September Politics Plus stayed about the same, gaining in three monthly categories and losing in three.

Here is our latest summary:

usage9-2013

Stats9-2013

In the monthly totals, a Site is any website from which someone accessed our server, a Hit is every access attempt to our server, and a File is every access attempt to our server that returned data.  The difference between Hits and Files is from access attempts that were sent in error or damaged in transit and failed attempts by hackers, spammers, phishers, and Republicans to access the back end and take control of the site.  Any questions?

Here is our latest Clustrmap:

CMap9-2013

Our map was archived in February, so what you see is from March 1.

Here are are top five articles:

Hillary? Gay?!!?                               9/21/2013    4,900 Targets

Jane Smiley: Capitalist Pigs              1/17/2010       875 Targets

Pseudo-Christian Blood Diamonds     9/12/2013      388 Targets

Arctic Sunrise Seized                        9/21/2013      365 Targets

A Republican Freedom                      9/24/2013      363 Targets

These are the times that people came from an external site with the specific purpose of reading these articles.  I’m a bit disappointed that it took an article about Republican bigots questioning Hillary’s sexuality to get such a high draw, when so many more informative articles are available here,

Care2              2,411

I still have not gone back to posting on Stumbleupon yet, but I thank whoever has been putting our articles there.  I suspect it’s Richard.  I’m pleased with the increase, but I’m disappointed that Care2 has decreased slightly.

There are two extra, because we had a tie for 15th.  Every time we link to their sites, it increases their ratings, so here’s some linkey-love in return.  The best ways you can spread the message to others is to use the share button at the bottom of each article to list our articles on the the networking sites where you belong. Quote PP articles on your own blogs also helps.  The operative commandment here is “thou shalt steal.”  We’re on the same side here, and I encourage it.  Even if you want to repost a whole article, that’s OK.  Just link back, please.  Also, feel free to swipe my graphics in the articles.  If they are labeled with our Politics Plus URL, they are my work.

Here are the top fifteen commenters for September.  I remembered and copied them off in time.  I don’t count, as I’m the resident big mouth, and I try to reply to almost every comment, except replies directed at someone else.  Those who leave their URLs in their comments, also get linkey-love here.

There is one extra, because of a tie for fifteenth.

We have 1,341,769 links on other websites, a small increase.

Our Technorati rating is up from 437 to 481, very high on the B List, almost to the A list, and they rate us as the 2973rd most influential blog in the world, up from 3,206th last month.  These ratings yo-yo and do not depend on our traffic or our overall links, but only links on sites registered with and recognized by Technorati.  If only Care2 would register their front page news with Technorati, we’d be A list again every month.

As of Midnight, October 1, we have 4,459 articles and 46,820 comments.

Republicans have shut down the government.  They depend on deceiving the American people that the Republican Shutdown is the Democrats’ fault, or at least that both parties are equally to blame.  Our work must be to inform as many people as we can, so Republicans cannot get away with their lies. Thank you for everything you do.  Our success is your success, and thank you for making it so.
