In February, I expected a big statistical shortfall, because I was ill and gone for almost one-fourth of the month, but Politics Plus exceeded my expectations.  We actually increased in every category except number if visits.  I’m amazed.

Here’s some linkey-love in return  The best ways you can spread the message to others is to use the share button at the bottom of each article to list our articles on the the networking sites where you belong. Quote PP articles on your own blogs also helps.  The operative commandment here is “thou shalt steal.”  We’re on the same side here, and I encourage it.  Even if you want to repost a whole article, that’s OK.  Just link back, please.  Also, feel free to swipe my graphics in the articles.  If they are labeled with our Politics Plus URL, they are my work.

Here are the top fifteen commenters for January are.  I actually copied them off in time. The widget is in the right column.  I don’t count, as I’m the resident big mouth, and I try to reply to every comment, except replies directed at someone else.  Those who leave their URLs in their comments, get linkey-love here.

We have 590,390 links on other websites, up from 623,138 last month.

Technorati still recognizes we exist, but still not as a political blog.  Our authority rating is 494 and our rank is the 2,759th most influential blog of all types in the world.

We have 3,234 articles and 29,777 comments, as of midnight 3/1.

I recommend using your own avatar. Go to Gravatar.  Sign up using the email address you use to post comments here and upload the image you want to use.  Whenever you comment under that email address here or on any WordPress blog (several others too), that image will be your avatar.

Your participation remains a major part of what makes this blog worth reading, not to mention worth writing.  Many people who visit here have told me that they come here to read your comments in addition to my articles, and people continue to write comments about your comments on other sites.  Politics Plus exists to help end right-wing insanity and send the Republican Party the way of the Whigs.  Thank you all for all you do, here and elsewhere, to help make that happen.  Together we will make a difference.

The top fifteen commenters for November are not missing this time, because I actually remembered to copy them off in time on the night of the 30th.  Here they are.  The widget is in the right column.  I don’t count, as I’m the resident big mouth, and I try to reply to every comment, except replies directed at someone else.  Those who leave their URLs in their comments, get linkey-love here.

Technorati ratings are falling off, and will continue to do so, due to the demise of Buzzflash.net.  We are now at 420, high on the B list.  They only count links from blogs they recognize as “influential.”  BF was the one influential site that regularly promoted our stories.

We have 656,839 links on other websites, up from 894,291 last month.

We have 2,988 articles and 26,248 comments, as of midnight 12/1.

Together we can make a difference.

In October, Politics Plus enjoyed record highs in Uniques, Page views, and Bandwidth.  I consider page views most important, because to generate more than one page view on a visit, someone has to open other articles to actually read your comments.  It was our second best month for Visitors, and third best for Hits.  This both surprised and pleased me, because we lost our second biggest Non-blog referrer, Buzzflash.  They are no more.  Furthermore, our traffic from Stumbleupon continues to drop, because their format changes have been so unpopular that people are leaving in droves.  On top of that I missed four days.

Here are our basic stats:

vv1011

In addition we also had 285,411 page views, 376,138 hits and and 7.16 GB of external traffic.  These are mainly from people reading articles from our RSS feed instead of coming to the site to do so.

Here is our most recent ClustrMap, last updated on November 1.

Technorati makes even less sense again this month.  Our performance was up, but the site that gave us the vast majority of our influential referrals is gone.  Politics and US Politics ratings are down, as expected, but our Global rating is up, putting us back on the A list.  I have no idea why.  They removed our World rating again for reasons unknown.    Still, with 450 million active, English language blogs in the world, it’s great to be in the top 2,500.  This site’s authorities across Technorati:

The guy I helped for half a day, when the league site trashed his ID,  thanked me by kicking my butt. 🙁

Short Takes:

From Christian Science Monitor: The New Jersey governor has been saying as much for months. He argued he wasn’t ready and his heart wasn’t in it. And as time marched on, many analysts said, it was just too late to mount a credible campaign. But when push came to shove, and ardent supporters and donors got Governor Christie to step back and reconsider, the final decision centered on his home state.

“Now is not my time,” Christie said at a news conference in the New Jersey capital, Trenton. “I have a commitment to New Jersey that I simply will not abandon.”

I strongly suspect that toilet paper use is way up among the ABR (anyone but Romney) crowd in Goperville.

From USA Today: The House has passed a short-term spending bill that keeps the government running for six weeks and buys time for future budget negotiations.

The 352-66 vote sends the measure to President Obama in time to avert a government shutdown at midnight…

…The vote also ends a fight over whether some aid for victims of Hurricane Irene and other natural disasters should have been offset by cuts elsewhere.

Lawmakers decided to drop $1 billion in disaster relief and cuts to a loan guarantee program that helps automakers retool factories to meet new fuel economy standards.

We won one for a change.  The Republican economic terrorism of blackmailing America will be back.

From Politico: The U.S. Supreme Court appears likely rule in favor of a death row inmate in Alabama who missed a deadline for appeal when a court notice sent to his lawyers at a top New York City firm was returned to sender because both lawyers had left the company.

Liberal and conservative justices alike, with the exception of Justice Antonin Scalia, signaled on Tuesday that they would throw out a federal appeals court ruling on Cory Maples that was based on the missed deadline.

It amazes me that even Scalia could be such a bastard, but I bet Teabag Thomas is goose-stepping right behind him.

We have a plug-in called sendlove.to.  To vote or give your opinion about any of the famous people in an article, go to the comments page and click the tab for that person.  Register using your Google, Facebook or Twitter ID.  It’s quite enjoyable, and voting Republicans down is a great stress reliever.  Have any of you uses this and how do you like it?

I replaced the standard comment editor with a full featured graphic editor that give you a wide range of ways you can express yourselves, including pictures.  Sadly, I learned yesterday that it conflicts with our smiley button.  If I cannot find a compatible add-in, I’ll post a separate page listing text shortcuts for smilies that you can keep open in a different tab.  Please be patient.  I’ll do it as soon as time permits.

Short Takes:

From LA Times: Tim Pawlenty was right to align his campaign with that of the underdog USA men’s hockey team that upset the Soviets in the 1980 Olympics. But ABC Sports thinks he was wrong to use footage from that historic game in his latest commercial.

According to the Des Moines Register, ABC will soon be sending the Pawlenty campaign a cease-and-desist letter because the Republican presidential hopeful not only used the network’s copyrighted footage but included a soundbite of Al Michaels’ famous line, "Do you believe in miracles?"

Is there nothing Republicans won’t steal?
