Here are the results of our “Continue, Mueller?" poll.  Politics Plus Polls are not scientific, because those who respond are not balanced according to demographic categories.   Therefore, we do not accurately reflect the makeup of the US population.  Nevertheless, our polls are usually factually accurate, and more often than not, they reflect thinking of the majority of those who actually do think.

Why would it be necessary to suspend investigations since the trump admin is NOT up for re-election?

Posted by Diane  August 3, 2018 at 10:59 am. From: PA (US)

He must continue the investigation at all costs. There has been too much damage done already.

Posted by Nita L  August 2, 2018 at 4:44 am. From: TX (US)

Mueller needs to continue as he has been. I think he will hold off on tRump and his regime indictments until after the midterms.

Posted by SoINeedAName  August 2, 2018 at 4:10 am. From: MO (US)

Mueller might "pause" the investigation by not issuing any indictments or announcing any guilty pleas.

But "suspend" for two months? I doubt it. This isn’t Europe, and it’s too critical for that.

Posted by gene  August 2, 2018 at 1:51 am. From: MN (US)

I hoped Mueller would release the American indictments before the end of August. The investigation will NOT be suspended, my bet. They’re negotiating with Trump still – I truly want that fool on oath, he WILL do himself in, no matter if they ask him three or ten questions. He can’t help himself. Which is good. But no way this "suspends", it IS going to affect the elections. It should, the last one was stolen.

Posted by Lona Goudswaard  August 1, 2018 at 11:07 pm. From: (AU)

Mueller shouldn’t suspend his investigations, but continue in the same way he has done so far. However, he shouldn’t start indicting Republicans or Drumpf right before the November elections. He should either do so now, with over 3 months to go, or wait until after the elections. The first is very unlikely to happen, so it’s really business as usual.

Posted by Colleen  August 1, 2018 at 2:54 pm. From: CA (US)

Mr. Mueller must continue on. There’s too much at stake.

Posted by Animae  August 1, 2018 at 1:45 pm. From: (AU)

NO!

Posted by Lynn Squance  August 1, 2018 at 11:24 am. From: BC (CA)

The investigation is too important and has gone on for so long. Drumpf et al have complained about its length continually so it would be folly to change course. On the other hand, by allowing it to continue risks the mid term election results that Republicans want. Personally, I hope that Diaper Don and his racist, moronic retinue get caught up and the sooner the better. They are a cancer in the US and globally.

Posted by Pat B  August 1, 2018 at 10:00 am. From:  TX (US)

Mr. Mueller will (hopefully) continue this investigation. It’s too important a mission for him not to.

Posted by Mitch D.  August 1, 2018 at 9:35 am. From:  FL (US)

I do not know about further indictments, but this investigation is too important to allow it to lie fallow! Might folks on the right complain? Sure, but they will find any reason to spout off, at any time. The die-hard, cult-like Trump supporters will not accept any verdict other than complete innocence for anyone caught up in the Mueller probes, anyway.

Posted by Joanne D  August 1, 2018 at 9:06 am. From: CO (US)

As tight lipped as Mueller is I certainly trust him, and he is not going to indict anyone who is in office until after the election anyway. Some journalists and "journalists" might need to shut up, however.

We don’t have a poll that’s both unanimous and popular very often.  I voted "no", because, if the investigation into Trump’s treason had been public before 11/2016, we’d be bitching about Hillary, and far better off that we are now.

The new poll is up.  It asks a question likely to be debated for some time, so it should be interesting. Don’t forget to vote in it, please.

Pat followed Politics Plus and commented for quite some time on Care2, where she has been active for years, before she started commenting here at the site.  A few months later, she won her first Big Mouth Award for the 78,000th comment in May 2016. She became a daily regular and won her second award for the 85,000th comment in December 2016 and her third for the 93,000th comment in October 2017.  She won her fourth for 97,000 in March, 2018.  This is her fifth award. She is a progressive activist, an authentic Christian, a proud veteran, and a Michael Moore Fan.  If you tell her to go to hell, she’s likely to answer, “I already live there.”  The poor girl is still a Texan. On the other hand, she loves her Houston Texans.  Her comments are still bright, witty and above all, compassionate.  She always greets WWWendy on shower day! My only complaint is her ongoing refusal to join our fantasy football league.

Last month, Mitch won the award for the 100,000th comment, but opted mot to accept his prize, so that prize passes on to the next winner, Pat.  She will receive a Politics Plus mug and a Politics Plus Tee Shirt!  I could not imagine a more worthy recipient.

Please join me in piling on her with well-deserved congrats, kudos and praise.

Compared to June, July results were down in Uniques and Pages and up in every other category.  That means, we have fewer visitors who are gone in seconds, and more who do something here, but not quite as much as in June.  That’s a small win.

Compared with last June, we are down in Uniques, and way up in all other categories.  Fewer visitors doing much more is a win.

Here is our ClustrMap for 2018 YTD.  This is seven months’ traffic.

ClustrMap7-2018

ClustrMap misses a lot of visits, because many visits can’t be easily traced to a location.

Here are our top five articles:

Fourth of July 2018 7/4/2018 865
Personal Update – 7/14/2018 – 7/14/2018 698
The Piñata Hit Back! – 7/13/2018 691
What Happened to Bill? – 7/8/2018 668
For Ogling Only – 7/9/2018 647

The count represents only the people who opened the page for that specific article.  All were from this year.   All were from July.  I wrote all five.  I would have been happier to see more of our other authors’ work represented here.  JD’s, Nameless’ and Squatch’s  articles have to be more interesting than a story of me blowing up eggs in the microwave. Lona has been making the great  migration and has been nʍod ǝdᴉsdn for a week now.

Here are our top non-blog/news referrers (100 referral minimum):

Google 8,359
Care2   3,390
Stumbleupon  355
Baidu 164

All were down from last month.  Facebook did not make the list.

Here are our top  blog/news referrers:

We had 7 sites with 2 or more referrals, up 4 from June.  Putting blogs’ links here increases the ratings of their sites, so this “linkey love” is our thank you for their referral support.  We still need to improve this.  Since May, I cleaned up our blog roll and found most of the sites either were gone or had not published for years. Now I still need to visit the few who remain.

As of midnight August 1, we had 8,372 articles and 100,278 comments.

Kudos to Mitch, who earned a Big Mouth Award in June for making the 100,000 comment.  Mitch opted not to accept his prize and suggested I auction it for a charity.  I don’t think he realized either how much extra work that entails, or how totally swamped I am.  I just can’t do it.  So I decided to give the prize of a Politics Plus mug and a Politics Plus T Shirt to the 101,000 level winner.  From now on, Big Mouth winners at 10,000 levels will have their choice of a PP mug or a PP T Shirt.  Staff will remain eligible to be winners at the 1,000 levels,  Winners at prize winning levels will be the first non-staff commenter.  If any staff member wants a mug or a T Shirt, let me know.

I recommend using your own avatar. Go to Gravatar.  Sign up using the email address you use to post comments here and upload the image you want to use as your avatar.  Whenever you comment under that email address here or on any WordPress blog (several others too), that image will become your avatar.

Your Administrators are Lynn Squance, aka Sasquatch or Squatch, SoINeedAName, aka Nameless, and I, aka TomCat, the Founder.  Your Editors are Joanne Dixon, aka JD the Erynator and Lona Goudswaard, aka Lona the Napster.  I  promoted them from Author in August 2017 to give them the ability to add graphics to comments and the ability to correct my innumerable typos.

This is our policy on links.  We do not embed links to extreme Republican websites, like Faux Noise, Breitfart or World Nut Daily.  However I leave notes in square brackets when I delete such links, (example: [faux noise delinked]) so readers, who wish to follow them can click through to the source article.  I also remove topical links.  Finally, I blank the target on all links, so they open in a new tab or window.

We now have only days, before we will have a major opportunity to reclaim part of our nation from the fascist Reich that possesses all three branches of government.  If you haven’t started working toward that end, you are way past due.

Thank you for your support here, and kudos for all the good you do, everywhere you do it.

Since the Repubs changed the rules (2 or more times), they still have to get 51 votes. McCain can just stay home, or in hospital, and they Won’t have 51. I can imagine ALL the Repubs might vote for the dipstick, but ANY Democrat who caves in should be thrown out of the Party immediately!

Posted by GGmaSheila  July 9, 2018 at 5:39 am. From: MN (US)

Hated to do it, but voted Definitely since I believe the GOP and Trump will prevail. Through bullying and downright threats they will elect another person who will throw the Constitution out the window…the Rights we have left will be finally taken away. This country has entered into the Dark Ages and I am scared there will be no light at the end of the very long, very dark tunnel for years.

For the first time ever, my 91-yr-pld mom, a GOP core voter, has refused to vote in her primary. She enclosed a note saying she was ashamed to be a Republican. Sadly, this just means all of the Republicans that are in office in TN will get her vote since she’s registered GOP. Big Sigh.

Thanx TomCat…my first comment here, but hopefully not the last, as I have been mostly absent from C2.

Unfortunately, I had to vote “probably”. And just a little more and I would have voted “definitely”. I don’t think there is anything that will keep this from happening. And that is sad to say, how things go right now. Unless Mueller brings out his big guns, I see no hope in keeping this from a done deal.

Posted by Nita L  July 7, 2018 at 12:26 pm. From: TX (US)

I voted probably too. I agree with Joanne. We need to do everything we can to stop it from happening.

Posted by Yvonne White  July 3, 2018 at 10:15 am. From:  IL (US)

I know McConnell said they’d vote on one as soon as possible, and they changed the rules (as Republicans do) to make it possible to seat one with ONLY 51 votes. But the 2 Republicans from AZ could stop that (McCain can just stay home, or in a hospital & Flake could go either way, he’s odd) & the 2 women who stopped the Obamacare repeal could throw a wrench in "hiring" another Anti-Woman Judge. So I’m holding out a bit of hope. Otherwise it Will Be the Civil War the right-wingers have been wishing for! They cannot steal ANOTHER Judgeship without paying the consequences!

I’m in the probably camp too, though I absolutely hate it.

I like to hold out some hope, so I only went for "probable". It would be nice to be surprised in a positive way by Congress for once, but deep down I know it’s idle hope.

Probably. His list has been vetted by the Federalist Society – a right-wing group masquerading as a Libertarian group.

They won’t make mistakes that allowed the likes of Flynn and Scaramucci and Lewandowski to slither in.

So any chance of finding a skeleton in a nominee’s closet is virtually nil. And that was our only hope of blocking Twitler’s choice.

Posted by Joanne D  July 2, 2018 at 9:09 am. From: CO (US)

Probably yes. But that should not depress us into failing to do everything we can to stop it from happening.

I voted with the majority.  As much as I want to, I see no way to stop it without Republican help, which I doubt we’ll get.

The new poll is up and should be interesting.  Please vote in it.

Mitch followed Politics Plus and commented for quite some time on Care2, where he had been active since 2010. He started commenting here at the site early in 2016 and won his first two Big Mouth Awards on June 5 and September 2 of that year.  He has commented here virtually every day ever since, but he hasn’t hit the magic number, until now.  He comes from the state, where I grew up, NJ, so he still lives with the constant danger that PIGnocchio will end his life by sitting on him. His comments remain sharp and dry.  His pet peeves are people, who use their religion to promote hatred, bigotry and discrimination.  He’s an advocate for human rights of all kinds, and animal welfare.

As the first to make a comment at the 100,000 level, he won both a Politics Plus mug and a Politics Plus T-shirt.  Unfortunately, for personal privacy reasons, he declined the prizes.  He suggested that perhaps we should auction the prizes by based on Meal Train donations for Sheryl at Care2.  I’m not sure I have the time for such a project, although I have already donated to Sheryl’s fund myself.  Any ideas?

His daily participation here makes life more interesting for us all.  Please be excessive with praise and  kudos for Mitch.  He has earned them.

Has anyone besides me noticed that the phrase, "

less country," as in "Under Trump, we have become a

less country," is starting to catch on?

Had Ivanka been younger, as in a minor child, this borders on child abuse. Since she is not a minor, Drumpf is just displaying his licentious behaviour and disrespect for his daughter. While I am not a fan of this c word, Sam is making a point in political comedy. Ivanka made herself a target of such comedy by propping up daddy.

Trump was talking about his very own daughter, and that was out of bounds, by far!!!!!!!!!!!

While I loathe the "c" word, if the shoe fits..;) Trump encourages sexists, racists, pedophiles (one is running in Virginia!), and horrible deplorables all across the nation & nobody seems to be up to burning him out of the White House..:(

I went with the majority here. I think what Donald did was the most disgusting thing I’ve ever heard a father say about his own daughter. I don’t care what he thinks, but to say that out loud and on air? Well, that’s just ugly as can be. Which is no surprise in regards Donnie. He’s the most crass person to ever inhabit the Oval Office in every way.

Posted by Vivian B  June 4, 2018 at 5:44 am. From:  OK (US)

tRump commenting about his daughter was totally disgusting! Anyone that would say anything close to what he said should be investigated for ALL the rapes, sexual assaults and just plain creepiness! But the rethuglicans will just let it slide off his back and keep going! That’s why we ALL HAVE TO VOTE! And VOTE BLUE!!!!

The incestual undertones makes everything Drumpf says about Ivanka disgusting, especially when as a father he’s rating his own daughter like a prized cow.

Who in their right mind would say something like that about their daughter? Or anyone for that matter? He’s a disgusting perv, and talks/looks at her like candy. He’s a revolting pos, and there’s no excuse. imho.

Posted by joanne D  June 3, 2018 at 9:51 am. From:  CO (US)

As strongly as I feel about this, I may struggle a little to explain it. Mainly I am basing it on where respect is due. A father owes respect to his daughter because she is his flesh and blood; he is responsible, both for making her, and also for taking care of her, including protecting her. Donald’s remark was the opposite of that. Now, Ivanka has some position in the White House, and with that go responsibilities, including the responsibility of being a decent human being (and yes, I know n one in the White House is up to that; therefore NONE of them has earned any respect.) Whereas a citizen has a right and duty to call out bad behavior by officials to the degree the behavior is bad. Doing so is not disrespect if the behavior deserved it. This did.

And then, of course, I also agree with Sally Field.

I voted for the obvious choice for the obvious reasons.  Score one for Thunder!

The new poll is up.  Vote!  Then…

Lynn has now won her twelfth Big Mouth Award.  Her last Big Mouth award was for the 87,000th comment on 2/18/2017.  For many years she has been one of our top commentators, and is also one of only two people, other than myself, that I have authorized as a co-equal administrator of this site..  Lynn is a denizen of Care2, and is still a Canadian, unfortunately for the US.  I’ve said this before, but it still bears repeating.  If 10% of US citizens had half, or if half of US citizens had 10% of the knowledge of and insight into US politics that this Canadian gal regularly displays, our country would be far better off.  Congrats Lynn!  She is a treasure, whose contribution to this site cannot be overstated, but I am stating it again.  Please join me in piling on the kudos and praise, because our Sasquatch is without equal.  That mouth is so big it dwarfs her feet!
