50-LynnSquance

Lynn has now won her eighth Big Mouth Award.  For over a year she has been our top commentator, and is also one of only two people, other than myself, that I have authorized to post articles here.  Lynn is a denizen of Care2, and is still a Canadian, unfortunately for the US.  I’ve said this before, but it still bears repeating.  If 10% of US citizens had half, or if half of US citizens had 10% of the knowledge of and insight into US politics that this Canadian gal regularly displays, our country would be far better off.  Congrats Lynn!  She is a treasure, whose contribution to this site cannot be overstated.  Please join me in giving her even more of the kudos she so richly deserves.

Because this 50,000 comments is such benchmark here at Politics Plus, I am awarding a prize to the winner for the first time ever, which I am having custom manufactured to commemorate the occasion.  I’ll be ordering it later today and having it sent top her, direct from the manufacturer.  She should receive it within a couple weeks.  Lynn has agreed to email me a picture of her posing with her prize, when she receives it.  I will post it for you.  For now, I’m not saying what it is, but here one hint.  It is NOT an itsy-bitsy, teeny-weeny Politics Plus bikini. 😉

In the future, doing this for every thousandth comment would be cost prohibitive, but I think I shall for every ten thousandth, subject to a one per person per lifetime limitation.

In December, Politics Plus was dead slow, because for most of the month, I was either sick, moving orboth.

Here is our latest summary:

usage12-2013

Stars12-2013

In the monthly totals, a Site is any website from which someone accessed our server, a Hit is every access attempt to our server, and a File is every access attempt to our server that returned data.  The difference between Hits and Files is from access attempts that were sent in error or damaged in transit and failed attempts by hackers, spammers, phishers, and Republicans to access the back end and take control of the site.  Any questions?

Here is our latest Clustrmap:

Map12-2013

Our map was archived in February, so what you see is from March 1 to December 15, when it was last updated.

Here are are top five articles:

A Republican Freedom                                                 9/24/2012

Jane Smiley: Capitalist Pigs                                          1/27/2010

There are there extra, because we had a tie for 15th.  Fact is, it was so dang slow that one referral was all it took to make the list.  Every time we link to their sites, it increases their ratings, so here’s some linkey-love in return.  The best ways you can spread the message to others is to use the share button at the bottom of each article to list our articles on the the networking sites where you belong. Quote PP articles on your own blogs also helps.  The operative commandment here is “thou shalt steal.”  We’re on the same side here, and I encourage it.  Even if you want to repost a whole article, that’s OK.  Just link back, please.  Also, feel free to swipe my graphics in the articles.  If they are labeled with our Politics Plus URL, they are my work.

Here are the top fifteen commenters for December.  I remembered and copied them off in time.  I don’t count, as I’m the resident big mouth, and I try to reply to almost every comment, except replies directed at someone else.  Those who leave their URLs in their comments, also get linkey-love here.

We have 1,501,678 links on other websites, a small increase.

Our Technorati rating is 113, low on the B list.  These ratings yo-yo and do not depend on our traffic or our overall links, but only links on sites registered with and recognized by Technorati.  If only Care2 would register their front page of C2NN news with Technorati, we’d be A list again every month.

As of Midnight, January 1, we have 4,630 articles and 49,626 comments.

I recommend using your own avatar. Go to Gravatar.  Sign up using the email address you use to post comments here and upload the image you want to use.  Whenever you comment under that email address here or on any WordPress blog (several others too), that image will be your avatar.

We have entered an election year Republicans will be going all out to deceive people into voting for them.  If they can’t do that they will try to fool people into thinking their vote does not matter and staying home or wasting their vote on a candidate with no chance to win.  Stopping them is our job!

Poll Results–1/1/2014

Here are the results of our Christmas Dinner Poll.  Politics Plus Polls are not scientific, because those who respond are not balanced according to demographic categories.   Therefore, we do not accurately reflect the makeup of the US population.  Nevertheless, our polls are often both accurate and indicative of the nation’s view.

We served turkey and ham to the family, but I am a vegan so only veggies for me.

Posted by Joanne D  December 28, 2013 at 4:07 am.

I’m not fond of either ham or turkey, and that’s a good thing. because I was just cooking for myself.

Posted by Patty  December 28, 2013 at 1:12 am.

It was the first year I didn’t cook. We went to friends’ house and they made prime rib, twice baked potatoes, green beans and Brussels sprouts. Yummy! I made Raspberry Lime Trifle for dessert and of course took a large tray of Christmas cookies to share with all.

We didn’t have a Christmas Dinner on Christmas day. We were still on left-overs from two days before which was the only day we could get some part of the family together in one house. We did have turkey and ham on the 23rd. Next year, I think I’ll just tell everyone to come over on the 21st and we’ll have a Happy Solstice dinner.

Turkey and ham, but you didn’t give that option.

I went to the Mandarin Buffet, it isn’t their holiday, and I enjoy the opposite of what most are doing. Though, there are quite a few people who feel as I do, considering the number of people there!

I cooked a "turkey breast in a bag" on Catmas eve because I knew I wouldn’t have time for Catmas dinner on Catmas day . . . I went to see my mother. Scalloped potatoes, veggies and 3 cats ready to eat turkey rounded out the fare. On Catmas day, quinoa salad for dinner after returning from mother’s.

I voted for Turkey bird!!  It’s a cat thing.

The new poll is up.  Enjoy!!

I’m not getting ANY presents!

Almost two decades ago our family decided to forgo gift exchanges at Christmas. All it was, was an exchange of shopping lists for things none of really needed.

We each select a charity to give to instead.

So now Christmas is just like Thanksgiving (family – food – friends) – but with better decorations … and a better feeling in our hearts.

That is simply beautiful.

Nothing fits. I’ve been nice but I won’t get presents. I won’t get a lump of coal because the 1% has the market cornered and would certainly not let me have anything I might use to keep warm. And I assume the third answer is for Republican politicians only.

BTW I have a pattern to knit a "lump of coal" but it has to be felted to be finished and I am allergic to wool. Anyone interested let me know.

Even though I’ve been nice to most, I was naughty toward the 1%. I don’t give them my money or my time.

I won’t even get coal.

Posted by Edie  December 13, 2013 at 6:02 pm.

Sorry, can’t help myself. I try to be naughty, but all that repression I was taught as a child keeps popping up.

Lump of coal from the 1% just as Marva pointed out…

You’re missing the most common answer for much of the world:

You’ve been nice, but the 1% is going to clout you with a lump of coal anyway.

I lied..oh, I’ve been very naughty, but the expensive presents were just fantasy!;

clip_image006

I found out on Fox News that Santa is a nit-picking white dude, so I’m screwed..

clip_image005[1]

I voted ‘Naughty’.  While I haven’t actually done anything naughty, I would have, if only I could remember how!!  Besides, TomCats are naughty by definition.  I need to have a long talk with the ladies who voted ‘So very, very naughty’. 😀

Vote in the new poll quickly.  It will last less than a week.

I voted "Yes" but I must qualify my vote. The RepubliCanTs will continue to lie about it. They just can’t help themselves. Pathological liars have a disease. The good news would be ObamaCare covers mental illnesses of this type; the bad news is they excluded themselves from coverage. Boo Hoo!

I also think they should not put any "fixes" on it yet. Give it a year and see how things go. The policies that were cancelled should be. They are deficient. Extending them does no good at all.

Posted by Yvonne White  November 17, 2013 at 10:47 am.

NO – You can’t save Anything from RepubliCON Lies & Media Hype! Whether there are ANY actual changes or not is beside Their point!

Posted by gene jacobson  November 17, 2013 at 7:22 am.

Oh there will still be plenty of lies, but the program itself will survive and thrive, because that republican majority will all but, and maybe completely, be gone after the 2014 elections. The people want this program, polls prove that, and as long as the republican tea party wing keeps talking insanitea, they are going down and taking the rest of the party with them. Governors elected in 2010 are running next fall, Senators in 2016 and most of them are not going to survive what they have done since 2010. The people may be discontent but they are not stupid.

but little choice.

Posted by Joanne D  November 16, 2013 at 5:43 am.

None of the options reflects what I believe, which is that nothing in the world, even overturning Obamacare, would satisfy the Republican and media whiny bags. And, at least partly for that reason, I don’t see bigger changes coming.

I voted ‘Yes’, because Democrats finally seem to realize that caving-in to Republicans only incites them to even more harmful acts of terrorism against America.

The new poll is up and ready, and it is critically important!!!  Don’t forget to vote!

49-Patty

Patty is a regular, and you’ll find her excellent comments on virtually every article, almost every day.  She comes to us from Care2.  This is her sixth Big Mouth Award, having also posted the 28,000th comment in January, the 31,000th comment in May, the 33,000th comment in July, and the 35,000th in September 2012. She also posted the 41,000th in March of this year.  Patty’s is still a MAJOR Jig Zone predator, and is now known as the Patty Monster.  She attacks those puzzles with all the zeal of a Republican politician trying to steal your grandma’s benefits.  In addition, she Monster Mashes the gridiron of our fantasy football league, and she even had the audacity to beat ME!! She is a completely welcome regular here.  Thank you, Patty!
