I’m running late today, because I overslept. I was up late meditating upon the glory of the Ellipsoid Orb. I’m current with replies. Tomorrow, it’s likely that I will have only an Open Thread, because I get to help computer phobic friend set up computer bookkeeping – phase two.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today’s took me 3:05 (average 4:17). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Religious Ecstasy:
Sandy Alert:
Please join me in remembering all in the path of this monster in your thoughts and prayers. Also, please remember that Lord Willard, Lyin’ Ryan, and the Republican Party intend to slash funding for FEMA. Willard said he wants to eliminate it.
Short Takes:
From MoveOn: This Super Speedy Clip Will Debunk Anyone Who Says Obama Is A ‘Do Nothing President’
The Republican Party has fast talkers too. The difference is that they are lying.
From NY Times: There’s a lot we don’t know about what Mitt Romney would do if he won. He refuses to say which tax loopholes he would close to make up for $5 trillion in tax cuts; his economic “plan” is an empty shell.
But one thing is clear: If he wins, Medicaid — which now covers more than 50 million Americans, and which President Obama would expand further as part of his health reform — will face savage cuts. Estimates suggest that a Romney victory would deny health insurance to about 45 million people who would have coverage if he lost
You’ll want to click through for the rest of this Paul Krugman editorial.
From The New Yorker: The threat of Hurricane Sandy has forced Republican nominee Mitt Romney’s campaign to move its lying efforts from states in the path of the storm to others beyond the hurricane’s reach.
Starting yesterday, the Romney campaign began reallocating lies originally intended for Virginia to other swing states such as Ohio and Wisconsin, the campaign confirmed today.
Repackaging thousands of lies must be a daunting task.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Yes – while Mitt would dissolve FEMA altogether, neither candidate will discuss Climate Change, while it exhausts our treasure, and depletes our water and food supply and puts our lives in jeopardy, as well as the rest of the planet! Again we're forced into a compromised election and choosing between two Plutocrats, one of whom would destroy the country faster, and one who will at least keep the water simmering, so the frogs won't jump out so fast!
Krugman is a genius, and I wish more people would listen to him!
The cartoon is too current to accept!
I'll just sit this hurricane through, with my tub filled with emergency water and hope that the electricity will hold out – but I won't forget those who created the "frankenmonster" and neither candidate wants to get rid of fracking and drilling – oh well – there's blood on both sides!
Lee, I agree. I hope you tub runneth not over.
3:08 TomCat, we both beat the one minute rule, but will the girls just be a thorn in our sides?
3:11 Well a thorn on one side! Perhaps Patty will come in at 3:04 and we'll a thorn on both sides!
I'm in the lead, for now, but we haven't heard from the Patty Monster. 😉
3:36 This rose has lost it's bloom.
Woooo Hoooo!! 😉
Well, in all fairness Rmoney has a damn good reason he wants to get rid of FEMA:
Because it's "IMMORAL" and "MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL"
So he told Moderator King during one of the GOP Primary debates when they were discussing that Mittnocchio wants to gut FEMA – even in light of the then recent tragedy Joplin suffered from its devastating tornado:
But you can be damn sure those flag-waving, gun-toting rugged Teabaggers who HATE "gubbermint" handouts will be bitching loud and long if FEMA doesn't show up fast enough for them.
Why, I even got a photo of them …

Good picture Nameless! Does this guy figure that waving the flag and his gun while yelling at the storm will scare the crap out of the storm so that it goes somewhere else? And these guys don't believe in climate change?! I'll betcha though that these guys believe in the tooth fairy!
What Lynn said! Although Obama's response to Sandy is far superior to Bushes response to Katrina, and although Obama's response has been nonpartisan, unlike Bush, who gave preferential treatment to red areas, you know that some lie, too outrageous for speculation, is coming from Lord Willard.
Puzzle — 3:11 This was a thorny issue for me!
MoveOn — This guy had to have practiced a lot in order to say soooooooooo much in soooooooooo little time. I had to take the opportunity to post this to a Bagger thread at Care2 — someone always saying "Why don't you liberals take about Obama's achievements?". Made me so happy to post and dash!
NY Times — Excellent Paul Krugman post. You just have to love that man's clarity and humanity!
As someone mentioned genocide in one of yesterday's thread, in my view, this is Republican/Teabagger genocide, and it does not know race, creed or colour — only greed!
I'll say it again — The measure of a nation is in how it treats its elderly, its disabled, its poor and its animals! The Republican/Teabaggers, in my estimation are guilty of genocide in their rush to eliminate Medicare and Medicaid.
The New Yorker — Maybe send Romney to campaign in southern Alaska where he could shake, rattle and roll with saturday night's earthquake and subsequent aftershocks coming from the Haida Gwaii (formerly known as the Queen Charlotte Islands, BC). He'd be out of harm's way in more ways than one — no hurricane to worry about and there aren't enough people to make a difference up there (they are already mostly Republican/Teabaggers).
As I think about it, there was a big storm/hurricane during the RNC and now hurricane Sandy during the election! I wonder if there is something that nature is trying to tell us about the Republican/Teabaggers?! I wonder if they want to reconsider their stand on climate change? . . . oh wait, it doesn't exist to them! What a bunch of putzes!!!!!
Cartoon — And who dug them out? A Democrat!!! FDR and his New Deal dug them out until WWII brought things up to speed. Maybe that's what Romney's plan is — plunge the US, and I dare say the world, into another war to end all wars to stimulate the economy and spur on their greed!
Still good.
He's well known here.
For Republicans, the color green trumps all.
God is making noise about the Eleventh Commandment.
History repeats.
