Yesterday I must have been really pooped.  I posted late, because I fell asleep at my desk, and when I finished blogging, I ate and slept from 4:00 PM until 3:45 AM with a couple short breaks.  I’m current with replies.  Tomorrow appears routine.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:43 (average 4:35).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From MoveOn: Why Didn’t We Listen To Teddy Roosevelt Over 100 Years Ago?

I can abide unlimited individual contributions, IF AND ONLY IF fully disclosed, but I still favor 100% publically financed campaigns. Taking the money out of politics puts the will of the voters back into politics.

From The Colbert Report: Mitt Romney’s secret video.

Hilarious, but spot-on!

From The New Yorker: In what his campaign described today as a bold strategy to insure victory in the Presidential contest, Republican nominee Mitt Romney will undergo a procedure to have his mouth wired shut until Tuesday, November 6th.

The decision reportedly was made in response to the release earlier in the day of rare video footage showing Mr. Romney saying what he really thinks.

They better make sure his butt stays open. Otherwise, he’ll explode!

  1. 3:27  Let's get this boat in the water.  The winds at my back.

  2. Puzzle — 4:05 That's no yacht!  That's a dinghy with sails!  No wonder I sank!  I did try to refloat the dinghy and came in at 3:39!

MoveOn — I like the direction Teddy was moving, but unlimited personal donations still allow the likes of the Kochs, Adelson, Rmoney and more to buy elections.  I favour a limit on personal donations with full disclosure, and like you (is this a surprise?) I favour public financing.  Corporations are not people and money is not speech!

The Colbert Report — Hilarious!  I was able to get it on The Comedy Network here in Canada.  Love Colbert's definition of "elegantly" although he can keep the shrimp (allergies)!

The New Yorker — Andy Borowitz's piece is funny and so appropriate.  Have to say that I also liked the titles of two other Borowitz pieces.  The man is sarcastically funny!

Poll: Romney Still Doing Well With Voters Who Have Never Heard Him Speak

Cartoon — From Wikipedia: "Washington's 'Farewell Address' was an influential primer on republican virtue and a warning against partisanship, sectionalism, and involvement in foreign wars."

I guess Republicans didn't get the memo!  Too bad.  And I guess they didn't hear about the cherry tree either!

  3. I certainly hope this will win the election for Pres. Obama.  Maybe the 47% of us who have been called moochers will finally wake up.

  4. I have to add, both my husband and I are on  Social Security, and our retirement pensions from work, guess that makes us moochers.  However, our tax rate is higher than Romney's.  HMMMM!

  5. Teddy Roosevelt's advice was ignored because  the RepublicanTs were in power an appointed plutocrats like themselves to SCROTUS.

I wonder if Rmoney was at the party in the Hamptons with the scantily clad Russian women dancing. Hmmm…
If so, that would explain why he sticks his foot in his mouth so often. He has Russian sugarplums dancing in his head all the time.

Colbert should have been throwing cake at the rabble.

I'm sure Carl Rove would have loved to have Rmoney's mouth wired shut.

RepublicanTs never met a lie they didn't like. George Washington would not have been elected had they been around back then. He didn't want to be king unlike most of them.

    • True.

I would hope that Russian strippers would have better taste!

      LOL!

No Republican President from the past could get the nomination today!
