Long before It became a national talking point, I have written frequently that Republicans were sabotaging America to prevent further recovery from the Republican recession, hoping to blame Democrats and to take power. In fact, I predicted that would be their strategy in 2008, well before Obama was elected. However, I must admit that the extent to which they have done so surprised me too. Now we have unequivocal evidence that is exactly what Republicans are doing, because they just blocked one million new jobs.
Senate Republicans on Thursday blocked a Democratic proposal for a small business tax cut.
Voting 53-44, the Senate rejected a package of tax credits for small businesses designed to incentivize investments and the hiring of new employees. Democrat Joe Manchin of West Virginia broke ranks with his party to oppose the bill, while Republican Scott Brown of Massachusetts did the same by voting for it.
"Unfortunately, Republicans played their usual games of obstruction and opposition. There was simply no reason to oppose this bill on the merits, so Republicans manufactured reasons to kill it out of thin air," Reid said. "Republicans claimed they wanted amendment votes, but refused to take ‘yes’ for an answer when I offered them votes on those very amendments."…
…The $28 billion Small Business Jobs and Tax Relief Act would have established a 10 percent tax credit for businesses who hire new employees or provide raises to current employees, as well as providing more credits for business that invest in capital equipment. Democrats said the bill would have benefited 2 million businesses and created a million new jobs. The plan was first proposed by Obama last year.

Ed Schultz and Richard Wolfe concluded that that this proves that Republicans are sabotaging the economy.

The bill that Republicans filibustered could not have been more compliant to traditional Republican policy. It’s a tax cut and it’s 100% pro-business. What else could they want? I’ll tell you. They want to prevent any improvement in the economy, as long as they are not in power.
Even if Republicans held the Senate, I would prefer to have it much more difficult to filibuster. Government by obstruction, as Republicans have adopted as the norm, hurts us all.

Harry Reid : "Republicans claimed they wanted amendment votes, but refused to take ‘yes’ for an answer when I offered them votes on those very amendments."…
Well if that isn't obstruction and economic sabotage, I don't know what is!
The Republican/Teabaggers hatched their plan to make Mr Obama a one term president on 20/01/2009, his inauguration day, and they have kept working at that like a dog with a bone ever since. This incident is just one more example in a long list of obstruction and deceit.
Vote Democratic 2012!!!!! Vote Obama/Biden 2012!!!!!
Well said!
I just hope the American people see it too. and give Obama a chance to move this country forward without all the games the Republians/Tea Party have put him thru. Right now Obama has a 95% chance. The debates are coming and Obama will eat Romney alive. that will give Obama that extra 5%.
Mama, I think our biggest worry is not Obama beating Rmoney. It's Republican mobey drowning us out in House and Senate races.
All I can say is ; VOTE !!! and help your neighbor to register and vote !!
Amen twice!
This "JOBS, JOBS, JOBS" chant Repubicans seem to love has me a bit confused. So I'd appreciate some help.
Do I have it right that Immigrants (those scary brown people) are the greatest threat to American JOBS – but wealthy executives who do corporate outsourcing of jobs is good for the economy because it puts more money in the hands of “JOB Creators"?
Then can someone explain to me why, with the LOWEST TAX RATE FOR THOSE WEALTHY “JOB Creators” for over THREE DECADES, the "JOBS" issue isn’t solved?
Bottom Line:
Maybe you can tell me how many Americans lost their jobs while Obama was sitting in a pew of Rev. Wright’s church.
Now tell me how many Americans lost their jobs while Romney was sitting in the "sole stockholder, Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer, President and Managing Director" chair of Bain Capital.
Personally, in response to your first question Nameless, I think the wealthy executives who do corporate outsourcing of jobs are the biggest threat, not only to the economy, but also the traditionally American way of life.
The short answer to your next question: The Republican/Teabaggers lied! Rmoney lied!
If they insist they didn't lie, then 2 points: 1) if they are investing in job creation, where is it because based on employment numbers it isn't in the US; and 2) if they are socking their money away in foreign bank accounts and off-shore islands (not American), how can they be investing or re-investing in the US?
Sorry, but I can't help on your 'bottom line' but only offer my best guess — Rmoney was the biggest loser!
From a Republican perspective you have it with. They don't know why three decades of their policies did not work, but it's Obama's fault.
This is yet another example of McConnell's promise to do anything he had to do to see that Obama was a one term president. This country can torch and burn, as far as he is concerned, as long as he succeeds in getting Obama out. I shared this article on FB. I hope some of my friends actually read it.
Thanks Edie. I hope so too.

Filibuzzards…
I agree.
That's a wonderful picture of the Filibuzzards. The idiots DO refuse to take "yes" for an answer and they have done so since Pres. Obama was elected in 2008. Unless we put Democrat majorities in both houses of Congress in November, 2012, this will be the story for Pres. Obama's second term too.
Thanks and you're right.
To Dave, who commented that we need to wake up, because Republicans and Democrats are the same.
I verify email addresses and the one you left was bogus.
That's why your comment was not approved. While I disagree, you have the right to be wrong.
