To be clear, Supply-side Jesus is not the real Jesus. The real Jesus taught love, inclusiveness, and care for the poor. Supply-side Jesus is the invention of Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christians to justify their false gospel of hate, bigotry, and care for the rich (greed). Here’s an example of what I mean from Republican stalwart, Brian Fischer.
Over the last few weeks, Bryan Fischer has been growing increasingly vocal about his views that President Obama hates both the Constitution and the United States of America because he thinks it is "one big, giant Ku Klux Klan meeting" and is therefore intentionally trying to destroy the country.
And he made the case again on his radio program yesterday, this time adding in Attorney General Eric Holder, claiming that Holder will never "prosecute someone if the victim is white"…
Inserted from <Right Wing Watch>
Now those are some pretty extreme charges against Fischer, but don’t believe me. Believe your own eyes and ears.
Needless to say, there is absolutely nothing true from one end of Fischer’s blasphemy to the other. I call it blasphemy, because it is Antichristian.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Not interested in extreme examples. I’m tired of both sides using extreme examples, to paint a whole party, or ideology.
Romney has said repeatedly that Obama is destroying America, and he is the Republican nominee for president. That’s worth noting.
As the election nears, I hope you stay away from extreme examples. Extreme examples never helped defeat Bush.
Unfortunately Steve, the Republican/Teabaggers seem to have made an art form out of extremist rhetoric. I am not saying that there are not extremist Democrats, but the GOP uses high profile mouthpieces like Fischer, Limbaugh, O’Reilly, Hannity and others, including the entire Faux Noise aka Fox News, to perpetuate lies, racism and bigotry on a daily basis. And it isn’t limited to so called “news personalities”. Just look at Senator Mitch McConnell, Eric Cantor, John Boehner. High profile individuals with foot in mouth disease.
Agreed.
So you do what they do?
Welcome Steve. 🙂
I agree with Lynn. The problem here is that what extreme used to be has become Republican mainstream. Some of the examples I have seen defended on the floor are Congress are birtherism, open carry at political appearances, claims that Obama is a Communist, Nazi, Socialist, and/or Traitor, and worst of all supporting Second Amendment Solutions. Add to that Republican Wars on Women, Gay, non-whites, Muslims, immigrants, the poor, etc.
One cannot discuss Republican tactics without using extreme examples, because Republican tactics are extreme.
I wonder what would happen if we did not go tit for tat with their outrageous tactics?
Their needs to be an adult position in this race. Take lead from the president; calm, cool, collected, and ignoring most of their garbage. Let the idiots (Republicans) sound like idiots.
I think it’s more important to gain the House and keep the Senate. President Obama with a Republican Congress = nothing gets done.
There has to be more to the election besides who can be more extreme. Republicans will win that kind of campaign. They have the market cornered on being extreme. It says a lot about the American people, that they would vote for such politicians.
Steve, ideally that would be great, but here’s the rel life problem. On the very rare occasions a Democrat, usual;y a DINO, attack using lies, the MSM is all over it. Conversely, virtually all Republican attacks are lies, but the MSM lets them pass without comment. When such lies are repeated often enough for long enough, people start to believe them, Therefore we must expose and condemn the lies from Republicans of note, because the MSN won’t, until we have made so apparent that they do so out of embarrassment.
It’s going to get louder and louder as the bigoted right-wingers need to inflame their base into a foaming wild rage to unseat the Kenyan, Marxist, Communist, Nazi, Usurper, Socialist, Gun grabbing Anti-Christ, because enthusiasm for Lord Romney, the Duke of Bain is very flaccid amongst conservatives.
Gene, that worries me most of all. Rmoney will be flaccid putty in the lands of the likes of Fischer, Rove, the Koch brothers and Cheney.
“Needless to say, there is absolutely nothing true from one end of Fischer’s blasphemy to the other. I call it blasphemy, because it is Antichristian.”
Tax his church…
How does one tax the infernal regions?
I never heard of this guy before, but I agree with Rixar 13! I really believe that racism is the root of all the hatred of our President and it makes me sad.
AMEN!!!!! Edith, AMEN!!!!!
Edie, he’s the head of the American Family Association, a leading group in the Republican Theocon wing.
It makes me wonder whether these people have all lost their minds. How can they profess to follow the teachings of Christ when all that comes out of their mouths is hate?
What minds? ; )
Precisely Leslie! AMEN!!!!!
Hear! Hear!
Sometimes I hate when I am right–lol– I have said from day ONE its all about RACE– this entire thing – all the ugliness is because the Bigots cannot stand a Black Man- no matter how talented , in their White House , moreover a Black woman is First Lady–
It is not going to stop- only get worse–
Phyllis, I expected more overt racism in 2008. As much as McConJob lied about everything else, at least he had the integrity to denounce it.
I had to laugh when I brought up this story on Care 2 — my butterfly points were ‘666’, the numeric sign of the anti-Christ! I wonder if that was prophetic for this story — Racism for Supply-side Jesus? What the heck, my car license plate is 666 HLL, so I say I am hell on wheels!
Bryan Fischer — “…they want to bring America down is, you know, essentially what Barack Obama has said is you can’t clean this thing up, you can’t correct it, you can’t rebuild it, you just have to destroy it. …” — Huh?????
Fischer needs to back up his inflammatory rhetoric with solid documented facts. If there was anything said even approaching this, I know, without doubt, that it was taken totally out of context. But I don’t think that Mr Obama said anything like this!
Everything that I have seen coming from the Republican/Teabaggers is tainted with racism and bigotry — wars on women, the poor, minorities, the disabled, the elderly. These are the very people that the true Jesus supported. The Republican/Teabaggers are the pharisees and sanheddrin of modern America. The true Jesus threw them out of the Temple along with the money changers etc! It is time for true Americans to clean house and throw out all the Republican/Teabaggers!
{Crosses self} Demon seed!!! 😉
There is no basis of truth, however distorted, in anything Fischer said.
Were the real Jesus to walk the earth today, as he did 2000 years ago, he would not be welcome in supply-side pseudo-Christian churches. They would be willing to admit his associates. He would challenge their authority. They would crucify him all over again.
