Yesterday I was very tired and slept most of the day.  Today I slept late and will be spending the afternoon and evening in prison helping with victim impact meetings.  Again this Open Thread is all for today. I’m current with replies.  Tomorrow will probably be the same, because I will not return home until late tonight.

From MoveOn: Seven Statistics Will Make You Question If Congress Understands Your Interests

My only disagreement is that I’d like to see Congress more educated than it is.

From: Huffington Post: Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) introduced legislation late Wednesday to protest the Obama administration’s refusal to share information about controversial trade negotiations with the senator.

The administration’s blockade against Wyden, who chairs a subcommittee on international trade, conflicts with its prior statements to the press, and raises concerns that President Barack Obama’s administration is selectively icing out critics of the administration’s trade strategy.

Hat-Tip: Lisa G

Either Obama has some bas appointees, or this is happening because so many Republicans politicos, who were appointed to temporary partisan jobs, burrowed into permanent nonpartisan staff positions during the Bush Regime.

  2. Damn, that bridge is old!

  3. For now, just a quickie on an iconic photo of the Brooklyn Bridge:

There not all of the Brooklyn Bridge, but “The New Yorker” magazine has an interesting slideshow of the history of some of its famous bridges.

  4. Too good not to share – especially for all you Canucks.  You just gotta love those Québécois.  When students in Quebec were asked by Police to provide them with a map of their recent protest route about raising tuition, this is what they sent them:

    Yep… ☺

  6. MoveOn — So, the US is governed predominately by 60 yr old white male evangelical Xtian millionaires with a highschool diploma?  No wonder there is a failure to communicate with the American people!

Personally, I’d like to see a Congress with greater racial diversity; many more women since women represent 50% of the population; much higher education levels; and fewer millionaires, which isn’t likely to happen when politics is so vested in money.

HuffPost — Is it maybe time for some straight talk with the President?

NY Times — The GOP bête noire!  I hope the bête noire bites the GOP in the ass come November 2012!

Cartoon — Damn, I hope I look that good at 129 years old!
