According to Wikipedia, “Psychological projection or projection bias is a psychological defense mechanism where a person subconsciously denies his or her own attributes, thoughts, and emotions, which are then ascribed to the outside world, usually to other people.” It is also a favorite tactic of the Republican Party. An obvious example is the swift boating of John Kerry, in which the campaign of a Republican draft dodger impugned the courage of a decorated war hero. Yesterday Paul Ryan (R-Fitzwalkerstan) accused Barack Obama of supporting austerity, while claiming that the Ryan Plan avoids austerity.
In the wake of its failure in Europe, Republicans must sense that being cheerleaders for austerity isn’t a big winner in America. So what does Paul Ryan (R-WI) do, since his budget slashes tax rates on the wealthy and services for working people? He just pretends it doesn’t…
…now President Obama wants austerity? Seriously? I thought he was the biggest taxer and spender EVAH?
Of course, none of this makes any sense at all. Ryan’s budget cuts spending by $5.3T over the next 10 years, including basically ending Medicare — while giving huge tax cuts to rich people. That’s the definition of austerity.
Oh, and if Ryan’s so worried about "getting our borrowing under control" — why does his budget make the debt worse?… [emphasis added]

By law, budgets must begin in the House. Durbin is almost as lame as Ryan, because he gives credence to supply-side. Supply-side economics may drive wealth for the 1%, but demand-side economics drives the economy and jobs.
This has to be one of the Republicans deepest dives ever into the science of bullshitology.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Ryan is a liar! In his budget, he CUTS Medicare and Medicaid – don’t be fooled.
Shhh! They don’t want people to know that!
“This has to be one of the Republicans deepest dives ever into the science of bullshitology.”
No shared sacrifice as Ryan wants to screw the working poor who had nothing to do with the debt…
Very well said!
It is just a puzzle to me that anyone still belies their blatant lies–
Their belief is an intersection of ignorance and apathy.
Ryan’s not a liar. Ryan is an idiot. He has convinced himself that his BS is true. That’s an affliction he shares with most Rushpubliscums.
JR, I think that he does believe his own BS to a large extent, but his lies are so blatant that some have to be intentional.
All great comments especially the Science of Bullshitology. What’s puzzling to me is how, in the name of God, can an average middleclass/poor American vote for any of these right-wing-nut radicals who couldn’t care less about them? It’s inconceivable how people can be so stupid.
Welcome Ray. 🙂
Thanks!
In my opinion, when someone other than a millionaire, billionaire, or corporate criminal there are three possible reasons/
All of the above, Tom.
Thanks Edie!
TC — “Yesterday Paul Ryan (R-Fitzwalkerstan) accused Barack Obama of supporting austerity, while claiming that the Ryan Plan avoids austerity.”
I suppose Ryan is right in a very perverse way — rewrite the sentence as follows and I think you have the meat and potatoes of Ryan’s budget.
“Yesterday Paul Ryan (R-Fitzwalkerstan) accused Barack Obama of supporting austerity for the 1% and corporations, while claiming that the Ryan Plan avoids austerity for the 1% and corporations.”
Amazing the difference 6 words make! The Republican/Teabaggers don’t represent the interests of ALL of the American people, only their chosen few!
Excellent, because that’s who they represent.
