Switch Hit Mitt is shopping for a VP candidate, and I think he has a hard choice to make. If he choses a Neocon/Corporacon/Plutocon candidate with comparatively moderate social views, like Condi Rice, he’ll offend the rabid Theocon/InsaniTEA wings. On the other hand, if he picks a social fascist like McDonald, he’ll turn off swing voters.
Mitt Romney’s search for a vice presidential running mate has only just begun, but speculation among top Republicans and Romney’s close allies is well under way. Here is how the list of potential running mates looks today.
Top Tier
Rob Portman – The popular senator from the important state of Ohio has twice been a cabinet level official, as well as a member of the House and Senate. He’s arguably the most qualified person on the list and he helped Romney beat Rick Santorum in the Ohio primary.
Marco Rubio – His political skills are obvious as his rock-star status among conservatives. And, at a time when Republican support among Hispanics has cratered, the Florida senator is a Cuban-American who could actually deliver his acceptance speech in fluent Spanish. Rubio helps in Florida but also potentially in battleground states with big Hispanic populations like New Mexico, Arizona and Colorado.
Jeb Bush – And here is the surprise: in my top tier is the former — and still popular — governor of Florida, Jeb Bush. Romney has so much respect for Jeb Bush, he said late last year that he might not have run for president if Jeb Bush was in the race. Friends of Romney say the admiration is real. There is also obvious political appeal: Jeb Bush remains a popular figure in Florida and among Hispanics…

I have no idea who he will pick, but in the interest of humorous satire, here are some possibilities I would find most entertaining. Allen West, Louie Gohmert, Joe Wilson, Sarah Palin, Sharon Angle, Christine O’Donnell, Jan Brewer, or Rand Paul.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
The very thought of yet another Bush coming anywhere even near the White House is more than I can stomach!
Excellent observation, Jack.
Chris Christy? He is so out of shape he could not even make it through a campaign let alone a term in office. I think this is all moot, though. Romeny won’t be in the White House anytime soon. Unfortunately, getting stuck another 4 years with Obummer does not excite either! So, vote for Rocky Anderson – a good Independent who may have a shot!
Maggie, under the best of conditions, Anderson will not get more that 4% of the vote. Anyone on the left that votes for Anderson is voting for Romney. Rocky is cool, but thinking he may have a shot is self-delusion.
I haven’t a clue who he’ll choose. None of them are terribly impressive. I must admit that Jan Brewer, Battle Ax of Brewerstan, would be fun to watch. I wonder if she would wag her finger in Rmoney’s face!
A short article from Daily Kos I posted on Care2 thought that Exxon Mobil could be the VP nod. Interesting idea when you think of Citizens United.

From the book ‘The Real Romney’ — Richard Cohen — Lying isn’t a sin, it’s a business plan. Lawrence O’Donnell read several short sections from the book and it is clear, based on this, that Rmoney is lying about his career at Bain Capital. So what can we expect him to do with the VP nod?
LOL! If he could do that, Bain Capital would be his pick.
Let’s see, for a running mate Romney could use someone with a Hispanic background, from a swing state (like Florida), a strong gun-rights supporter, someone who the Republican base can identify with and who embodies their paranoia about black people, someone who already has national name recognition, someone who’s already displayed skill at lying and covering up wrong-doing….. George Zimmerman?
Or how about Ted Nugent?
They are probably tripping all over themselves thinking “Pick me! Pick me!” It will be interesting to watch Act II of the Clown Show.
Time will tell.
I’m kinda leaning toward Condoleezza Rice at this point. Mostly because it at least begins to mend fences with two of the many groups Mittens & Repubicans endlessly offend: Women and Minorities.
That was my thinking too, I think she would say no. Condi once had a small amount of credibility. Service in the Bush Regime left her with none at all. I think she will keep her options open for later.
I got to participate in one of those conference calls with Mitt when he was campaigning through SC; he mentioned a few names as potential running mates. http://www.examiner.com/article/romney-names-possible-vp-candidates
Thanks Rob. They pretty much echo the ones in my source.
Ohh let him go with Palin– maybe we can get rid of them both at the same time ??
That would work, too! It would put Tina Fey back to work!!
