Rick “Google Me” Santorum thought he had the unified endorsement of the Theocon and InsaniTEA wings of the Republican Party.  However the endorsement is not so clear as it seemed when Tony Perkins lied to America, announcing a consensus  of support for Santorum.  This is the first time I have ever used the Washington Times, an extreme Republican paper, as a source.  I am doing so now to avoid claims of bias.

17santorumA civil war is breaking out among evangelical leaders over allegations of a rigged election and ballot stuffing at a Saturday gathering of religious and social conservatives.

At the meeting about 150 religious conservative activists at the Benham, Texas, ranch of Nancy and Paul Pressler, Rick Santorum supporters claimed the former Pennsylvania senator was chosen on the third ballot as the consensus candidate to try to stop Mitt Romney’s march to the Republican presidential nomination.

The meeting was called to avoid a continued division within social conservatives’ ranks.

But in back-and-forth emails, Protestant fundamentalist leaders who attended – most of them backing former House Speaker Newt Gingrich to be the anti-Romney candidate — are accusing Catholic participants of conniving to rig the vote.

They said they were conned into leaving after the second ballot on Saturday. They said pro-Santorum participants held a third ballot which Mr. Santorum won with more than 70 percent of the vote — far higher than the nine-vote margin he won on the first ballot.

“My view is that the vote was manipulated,” said a prominent social conservative who asked not to be named.

Now, a prominent evangelical political organizer is saying to others confidentially he has evidence that in a least one instance a participant was seen writing Mr. Santorum’s name on four separate ballots and putting them in the ballot box… [emphasis added]

Neither claims of voter fraud and nor rigged elections represent anything new to the Republican party, but this has to hurt.  Not only is it embarrassing for them to be seen as too contentious to function honorably, but also, it defeats their purpose, leaving support even more divided between Newter and the Frothmeister, thus helping Multiple Mitt.

I bet vulture capitalists are partying down over this, especially the most multiple one.

  1. Ballot stuffing?  Republicans?  heh heh!  Really?

  2. Not very Christian is it?

  3. So there’s a third campaign going on? Martin Luther v. the  Pope? Who’d a thought?! Maybe there’ll be a revolt and the Luthers will leave the country to find a new world somewhere – or the santorums can go to Israel to do some missionary work. but – what are you goin’ to do with Utah? very confusing—

  4. Maybe, if, just once, they could be honest with themselves and others?

OMG! What am I saying? It’s impossible!

  5. Oh happy day!! Catholics and Mormons are not favorites of the evil evangelicals!!!

  6. Priceless! It’s all a matter of who’s ox is being gored.

  7. Since Gingrich is currently a converted Catholic (he’s been a Lutheran and a Southern Baptist, too) I find it a bit odd.

  8. Folks- it is all about religious bigotry–ignoring the precepts of the first “Christian”– they fight among themselves , they lie , they cheat , and they steal– If “by their works we should know them ”   (James ;chap.2) They present a powerful witness against the faith they claim–

  9. A civil war is breaking out among evangelical leaders overallegations of a rigged election and ballot stuffing at a Saturday gathering of religious and social conservatives.

    O, the irony.

  10. And this is the party that has brought in voter ID legislation in various states under the guise of blatant voter fraud? (Read with really, really heavy sarcasm!)  Oh the Santorum!!!!!  They can’t even keep themselves clean!!!  They probably figured that they needed these anti voter fraud initiatives because they were looking at themselves and what they do.  What a joke!

Republican/Teabaggers have spent so much time in the Santorum that they really are challenged!
