Yesterday I watched the early game and napped during the afternoon one. I’m still feeling pretty down, but it was a slow news day. I’m current with replies. Tomorrow I still have week old errands to run.

Short Takes:
From Economic Times: Latin American and Caribbean countries signed the "declaration of Caracas" on Saturday in Venezuela to formalise the creation of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, an economic and political bloc that excludes the US and Canada. Leaders and officials from 33 countries approved the declaration that pledges to improve ties in the region.
After over two centuries in which few countries in that region have escaped the overthrow of their governments to benefit US corporations, I’m not surprised.

Why does it not surprise me that he’s from Wisconsin?
From Philadelphia Enquirer: The House on Friday approved the second in a series of bills to limit the president’s authority to regulate business, which Republicans said was necessary for job creation and which Democrats called a political power grab.
House Speaker John A. Boehner (R., Ohio), who said the package was a top priority, will have difficulty winning final passage of the bill, which the White House has threatened to veto. Still, Republicans said the votes would highlight the government’s role in regulating business, which they have made a major campaign issue.
Is not the Republican Recession, occasioned by unmitigated corporate greed gone wild, undeniable proof that more regulation is needed?

The nation’s 44th President has vetoed only two bills as he approaches the 2.5-year mark into his administration, which Smart Politics finds is the most infrequent use of the president’s veto power among the 23 men who have served since James Garfield died and Chester Arthur took office 130 years ago.

But it’s also true that the 111th (2009-2010) and 112th (2011-2012) Congresses are on track to enact the least number of bills in over a decade.

Nameless has a good point. In addition, I am only aware of one of one bill that he said he would veto and failed to do so.

I’m sure the “Declaration of Caracas” doesn’t say anything about NOT taking money from the US and Canada though.
Scott Olsen is quickly becoming the “face of the 99%”.
The RepublicanTs want to continue with their policy of the foxes guarding the henhouse. Pres. Obama better hold good on his threat to veto this bill.
Newt should crawl back under his rock.
Gotcha, at last!
Patty, we take far more from those countries thn we give them.
One of them.
Amen!
Amen!
3:58 Looks like I am bringing up the tail on this one.
And I did very well on the next one.
Church of the Elipsoid Orb — On 27/11/11 Canada held its final meditation in Vancouver, BC. This was between the BC Lions
() and the Winnipeg Bluebombers (). Lions won 31-23 and are now in possession of the Grey Cup for this year. Did anyone catch the meditation on TV.
The Declaration of Caracas — It will be interesting to see where this new block goes because there have been some divergent political and social differences between them all in the past. Some countries are more anti-US and anti-Canada than others. One thing I will be watching is how they deal with the indigineous peoples. There have been historically, as in the US and Canada, inequalities between indigineous peoples and European based. Another thing to watch is China’s influence in the area. China has had an active role in emerging African countries too.
Scott Olsen — He is looking good . His speech was good, somewhat halting (almost as if he hadd a mild stutter) but I’m sure he will fully recover. I agree with Patty that Scott is becoming the face of the 99%. And he is willing to get out there again. Now that is patriotic.!
Philadelphia Enquirer — The Republican/Teabaggers certainly didn’t catch Faux Noise and the Hanauer interview. Didn’t Hanauer say that it was the consumer that created the jobs not the 1%! I hope the President vetos the bill. Corporations and industries need to be adequately regulated for the good of the country, the people and the world.
Cartoon — Love the cartoon but there is one thing I think you should add — put little T shirts on them with writing down the sides with slogans like ‘Newter Newt!’ or ‘Newt for Janitor!’
Congrats to the Lions. I get CFL on a lightly traveled sports channel, and I didn’t even know the Gray Cup was on.
Excellent evaluation!
An authentic hero.
He did, and I hope so too!
LOL! Too late!
