When Republicans ran for office in 2010, their mantra was jobs, jobs, jobs.  Since then their only offerings they claim is jobs related is taking from the poor and middle classes to give yet another tax cut to millionaires, billionaires and corporate criminals.  Republicans had planned a jobs agenda in the House Judiciary Committee this fall, but have cancelled it to pursue a racist agenda.

23SmithOn Thursday, Roll Call reported that Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX) was planning to use his House Judiciary Committee gavel this fall to promote a "jobs agenda." This would represent a significant shift for a committee that has largely been focused on radical attacks on undocumented immigrants.

But later that day, the Obama administration announced that it would begin reviewing the cases of the 300,000 illegal immigrants currently awaiting deportation and prioritize the expulsion of the more dangerous criminal violators, rather than targeting low-level immigration offenders for deportation.

Smith quickly abandoned his "jobs agenda," telling right-wing radio host Joe Pagliarulo that he was now planning to hold hearings on the subject with the avowed purpose of trying to "embarrass the President." Smith also suggested that the House Appropriations Committee would defund the administration’s ability to implement their plan… [emphasis added]

For Republicans, deporting brown people is too important to allow something as petty as jobs for American workers to interfere.  The only way to get them to care about jobs is to take their jobs away.

  1. Can’t we deport old white men and crazy ass women and men in congress? I mean if a baby born here can be stripped of its citizenship…I would deport them to Rhodesia, a land that does not exist anymore. Maybe deport them to Pitcairn Island that would be good for pirates and mutineers.

  2. With all the continuing job loss , and loss of everything that goes with job losses– with the world in turmoil- those SOBs are worried that a few people with the wrong color skin may have a legitimate reason to remain-??So they will spend millions , billions ? on ‘hearings” where they can parade their ignorant racism in front of the world ?

Part of this problem seems to me , rank and file Republicans continue to think the Party remains legit , not realizing the crazies have taken over– By the time they wake up , my fear is that it will be too late.

I have said , from very early , and I will continue to say and think President Obamas big problem is color– that racism is , the sole , motivating force behind the ugly attacks —

  3. Phyllis, I agree 100%. Don’t know why it took so long to realize this. The Republicans had apoplexy after the 2008 election and quickly organized to combat all the “otherness” that had overtaken America — hence the birth and success of the Tea Party in 2010 and today. Voter i.d. laws (37 states either have or are considering passing some form of restriction on voting rights) is the principal weapon being employed to disenfranchise these “others”. Makes you proud to be an American, doesn’t it? “We’re number 47!”

  4. Phyllis at 8:54AM – I agree totally with your comments. Your last sentence is what I’ve been saying all along as well. I hear some in my neighborhood speak ill of the President. If it is the right topic I will say what is the truth, not lies… and still I get these blank looks, then I end the conversation (not on my part but theirs), with “the only reason most of you don’t like the President is because he is black.” (silence ensues, so I know I am hitting a nerve). I also tell them – the president is half white – don’t forget his mother, and her parents were white, and born in Kansas. This is turn, stops the “he wasn’t born here” rhetoric.

  5. President Obama’s big problem is all the racists, xenophobes and ignorance in the USA. They are Hell bent on destroying the country if they can’t have a white man sitting in the President’s seat.

    • Welcome Sandra. πŸ™‚

I agree. On the left, we had our extremist loons, but we ignored them. The Republicans embraced them so heartily that they took over.

  6. It does not surprise me at all to read about these latest XENOPHOBIC antics of U S REPUBLICANS, you have to go back in History to learn more about them. What many AMERICANS DO NOT KNOW and most certainly THE WORLD, is that the DIABOLICAL RACIST POLICY OF “RACIAL SEPARATION or APARTHEID” was the brain-child of two respected U S A ACADEMICS (Sociologists) Dr. Kenyon Leech Butterfield from Michigan and Professor Charles W Coulter from Rochester,N Y. They suggested to the TRUE behind the scenes FATHER of the APARTHEID AGENDA (Dr E G Malherbe) ” SANCTUARIES ” to protect “POOR WHITES ” from what the two Academics described as “COMPETITION FROM COMPETENT (Educated) ECONOMICALLY ENABLED NATIVES”. That happened following their year-long tour of South Africa in 1927 during the CALVIN COOLIDGE, the 13 US PRESIDENT, A REPUBLICAN from Massachusetts. It was under Calvin Coolidge too that the Immigration Act ( 1924 ) and the Revenue Acts (1924-1927). were passed. THEY well and truly believe in flogging the Poor and non-WASPs to “PROTECT THE RICH ” whenever ferocious ECONOMIC ILL-WINDS BLOW ” and even DARE EXPORT THE IDEA which became “fine tuned and entrenched” by emerging Southern Africa RACIST NATIONALISTS sponsored by the ‘Afrikaner Broeder-Bond’ (Brotherhood) !!

    • d’Albert, I don’t see where what toy said applies. America has our own history of racism without i having anything to do with the Afrikaners.
