Yesterday I spent the day catching up a huge backlog in email, watching Obama, and updating my profile on places that automatically charge purchases to my card, like my mail order pharmacy. Preparing today’s main article took more effort than the normal three. I’m exhausted. Today I rest.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today it took me 4:38 (average 5:40) To do it, click here. How did you do?
Short Takes:
From Politico: President Barack Obama on Friday formally certified that the military is ready to allow gays to serve openly in the armed forces, clearing the way for an end to the 17-year old “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” law in September.
9/20 is the day.
From Daily Kos: Congress adjourned for the week without passing an extension of the FAA’s operating authority, which means that as of midnight, the agency’s non-essential functions shut down. Though air traffic controllers will stay on the job, there will be widespread effects.
The effects will be severe. Click through for them.
From Think Progress: After a horrific day of violence in Norway that left more than 80 dead, police detained a man in connection with the massive bomb blasts that blew out windows for blocks in downtown Oslo and an attack on a youth camp about 20 miles away that followed shortly thereafter.
Despite earlier rumors, this guy is not AQ. He is a self-described conservative christian, obviously supply-side, not authentic.

On this very sad day, I thought TC and the rest of us might enjoy a lighter note via a vicarious photo-journal walking tour through Portland …
“… hit a few of the public stairways on Alameda Ridge, check out some of the houses in the Beaumont-Wilshire and Alameda neighborhoods, head on over to Grant Park, and then hit a food cart to pick up one of my favorite sandwiches (Schnitzelwich!!!)”

I really enjoyed that! Thank you! 🙂
You’re most welcome.
Thanks, Nameless. I recognize a few of those places.
Thankyou for the “walk” through Portland! I mentioned it on my Care2 comment, hoping people will notice that it is available and enjoy it as well!
Welcome Shelly 🙂
I think I read somewhere ➡ 😀 recently, that Portland is the most bicycle and pedestrian friendly city in the nation!
I can’t speak for other cities, but Portland is excellent.
What happened in Oslo was a tragedy, however what else would one expect from a Reichwing Racist, Bigoted Republican Christian Nazi Terrorist?
Essentially. See my lead story.
5:47
Oslo’s version of a Tea-Bagger?
Now I have proof.
4:01 That’s better! I am 66 out of 204 (324)
Today is so yours.
It’s about time for DADT to go into the dustbin of hell. Good riddance!
My Dad is flying next week. I’m hoping the cutbacks will still allow for the safety of all passengers.
The scum that committed that terrorist act in Oslo, is the lowest of the low – shooting at children while they flee or even swim for their lives. Disgusting. I hope he serves the rest of his life, in hard labor for what he’s done. And a Christofacist – just what we’d expect from them – more violence. 😡
Shit – Repubs are a hazard to everything.
Amen, Lisa.
The ATC’s are still working. He should be safe but may face major inconveniences.
Wait till you see today’s piece.
Amen.
