Yesterday was a zoo.  I was already tired from laundry night.  I ran some errands in the morning, and learned that I will get my teeth on Thursday.  I did my online grocery shopping for the month and have crunchy food coming!  Then I found an emergency notice to upgrade my blog software.  It did not go as planned, and by the time I had that mess straightened out, it was well past my bedtime.  No sooner was I asleep than “missionaries” ignored my do not disturb sign and woke me up.  I pretended to be gay and want them.  They ran.  I could not get back to sleep until I got up to do research.  Then I dozed for two hours at my keyboard, so I am running way late, am tired and hungry, and cannot eat for hours because of blood tests.  Normally, I would answer comments individually and sleep later, but I cannot, because I have to be out early for medical appointments, so I just posted a generic thank you in all threads.  I apologize.  I have only this and one other article today.

Short Takes:

From LA Times: Ending a bitter special congressional election for the South Bay area, Democrat Janice Hahn defeated Republican Craig Huey on Tuesday.

Unofficial election night returns showed the Los Angeles city councilwoman with 54.6% of the vote, compared with the businessman’s 45.4%

Republican hate and racism went down!

From The Nation:

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, his conservative legislative allies, the Republican Party of Wisconsin and county Republican parties across Wisconsin tried everything in their power to thwart the recall election process that could check and balance Walker’s extreme anti-labor, anti-public schools, anti-social services and anti-local democracy agenda.

Frightened by the prospect of losing three or more Republican-held seats, and with them control of the state Senate, the GOP challenged the petitions that forced the recall elections against six Republican senators who backed the governor’s agenda. And they failed.

Ed Shultz covered this with Jon Nichols.

Note that Republicans actually made robocalls to Democrats, telling them that their official ballots were in the mail and not to vote.  Criminals.

  1. We should all be very encouraged by the election results last night in both California and particularly Wisconsin — of the six faux-Demcratic candidates, all were defeated, most by 65% – 70% of the electorate. The actual election is August 9 (less than a month away) and I don’t see this revolt growing any weaker during that time. The tactics used the Wisconsin GOP would make Carl Rove proud — the new GOP motto needs to be “How low can you go?”

    The “fake” Democrats went down!

  3. Q: How Many Repubicans Does It Take to Change a Light Bulb?
A: Lots more than what they had, as the House failed to pass the Tea Party’s effort to screw up our environment even more in their attempt to revoke the new lighting efficiency standards
And just in case you get into a “discussion” w/ some wingnut, just remind them the change does NOT ban incandescent bulbs – it only requires them to meet new efficiency standards.

  4. Your excuse is wayyyy better than “The dog ate my homework” – and perfectly understandable.
But you gotta tell us more about these “missionaries” some time.

    • I’m not even sure, as I was groggy. There were two guys dressed in white shirts and dark slacks and ties. They blathered on about eternity for a couple minutes, so I just said in my most stereotypical lisp that I thought they were cute and should come in to “PLAY”. 😈

  5. You get some new teeth on Friday – yeah! Now you can stop eating soup for sustenance.

  6. Let’s hope that all these red districts are going to turn blue as the weeks and month go on and the Repubs keep holding the big 3 (SS, Medicare and Medicaid) over people’s heads and the fact that they all voted for the Paul Ryan budget from hell. We should be banging them over the head day and night with that. 😆

  7. 3:56 🙂 I’m 62 out of 194 (320).

From cartoon: I think your cat got the Republican! It’s that thing he’s batting back and forth in the hallway! 😈

  9. Scott Walker and his cohorts are going to lose this election and lose it big. And he will be recalled in January, no doubt – he’s running scared right now – trying anything to get through his Repub Senate and he won’t get it. That’s what happens when you take away worker’s rights. 🙄

  10. I guess even when it comes to “faux dems” the teabaggers and the intellectually challenged recognize the BS of no jobs and union bashing!!

    • Not necessarily Lee. It was an open primary so Republicans were voting for the pseudo-crats. having no primary of their own.
