Republican Governors are despoiling our nation though their schemes to reward the super rich and corporate criminals, coupled with draconian cuts of services to everyone else, especially the neediest, and assaults on workers rights. Because the Koch Brothers may be the lowest common denominator between them, the AFLCIO has presented a list of eight ways to see if your governor has a Koch problem. Here are the first four.
The addiction of governors across the country to the Koch brothers’ agenda seems to be growing stronger every day. Here are some warning signs your governor might have a Koch problem:
1. Are they planning on attending the upcoming Koch brothers invitation-only strategy session in ritzy Vail, Colorado?
Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell has already confirmed his attendance. Just because your governor hasn’t announced his or her attendance doesn’t mean he or she is not planning on going. The Koch brothers hold biannual seminars but like to keep their strategy sessions secret so they don’t out their followers. If you have the opportunity, ask them!
2. Did your governor support attacks on collective bargaining rights for public service workers?
The Koch brothers’ front group, Americans for Prosperity, pushed attacks on the collective bargaining rights of firefighters, teachers, nurses, police officers and other public service workers in Wisconsin and Ohio and other states. During the Wisconsin struggle, Gov. Scott Walker was recorded taking a call from a prank caller he thought was David Koch and openly discussed the assault on working families.
3. Is your governor pushing massive tax breaks that would benefit the Koch brothers and other corporate cronies?
The Koch brothers fought hard for the Bush tax cuts to continue in December but they also took their fight for tax breaks for the rich to their Koch-addicted governors. In Ohio, Gov. John Kasich taped a personal thank you video for Americans for Prosperity for the group’s work pushing a repeal of the estate tax, which would only benefit the rich in Ohio.
4. Was your governor working to destroy environmental standards that would pay for their Koch addiction?
The Koch brothers—who own stakes in companies that purchase oil, ethanol and toxic chemicals—have long advocated against environmental standards and regulations in order to enrich themselves. Now, they are using their connections to governors like Scott Walker, John Kasich and Michigan Gov. John Snyder to push through their agenda to destroy policies that keep our neighborhoods free of pollution and water safe to drink… [emphasis added]

Koch sucking governors have one thing in common. They need a job change. There is only one position for which they are fit: unemployed.

TomCat,
I’m glad you, too, have made a post attacking their sneaky foray into politics (see my latest post). The Kochs’ libertarian brand of laissez-faire economics is a proven failure which benefits ONLY the rich! They are out to destroy our government, and both deserve life sentences for their hostile actions.
Glad to hear it, Jack. Great minds still fall in the same ditch. 🙂
Dumb Question #1 Has anyone identified any Democrat governors doing all this?
Dumb Question #2 Any Blue (heh heh) dogs doing this?
Well, shame on them! Dammit!!! 👿
#1. No.
#2. Are there any Blue Dog governors?
#2. Not officially, but in a way! 👿 (elected Demo/act’n Repub’lo)
I thought of one. WV.
I think our governor is just trying keep IL alive a this point – our “reported deficit” is at a miserly $13B which is a drop in the bucket to CA. CEO’s in the state have said it is actually $130B which I think is actually closer, but a bit high.
He’s Blago’s replacement, so all he has to do is stay alive until 2012 when we can get some competent governor in there. (Blago’s choice for a replacement has an IQ of about 30, because he still thinks he’s going to be found not guilty for selling Obama’s seat, even though they have him on tape (well supposedly the FBI does) saying it, but it wasn’t played at his first hearing. So he’s running on the FBI not having a tape which might be true since they didn’t play it at his first hearing – which he is appealing. Could go either waiting, there is a tape, saying he wants something for Obama’s seat, but he didn’t say anything convictable on, so he did choose wisely as a successor, since the man has the brain of a pea. Personally, I know that Blago is convictable, but then all of the General Assembly and Senate are too. It’s kind of a toss up, but they aren’t sucking Kock dick yet.
Lisa, at least an incompetent Democrat is better that the best Republican.
Jerry Brown sucks no Koch!
Welcome Terry. 🙂
You get a big Amen from me on that one!
I’m pretty sure mine’s just trying to hold the state together with our $13B deficit (the CEO’s are saying it’s more like $130B, but I don’t think it’s that high) and he pretty much sucks as a governor but he was Blago’s vice so, he got the job. I don’t know anyone who’d want that job, but someone will. But no, we’re a thoroughly blue state (except for Kirk – that asshole) so, I don’t see that happening.
Well, hopefully you can improve on him next year. 🙂
