Yesterday I got quite a bit done and took a much needed nap. I’m up to date on replies, and my spring cleaning continues. My mouth still hurts, but it is down to the level where I can handle it without drugs.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today it took me 4:12 (average 4:54). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Short Takes:
From Countdown: Worst persons for 6/2.
Keith is posting videos at the Current TV website. Follow the link for more. Any yes… that woman is an idiot!
From Washington Post: At a meeting Thursday afternoon, House Democrats and President Obama reemphasized their opposition to House Republicans’ 2012 budget blueprint and their call for revenue increases to be included in any longer-term deficit-reduction deal.
But there was some friction in the East Room of the White House, several House Democrats said after the meeting, when members pressed Obama for greater clarity regarding the slated drawdown of U.S. troops from Afghanistan next month.
The House Democrats were right to push him.
From Politico: Breaking with their leadership, 147 House Republicans joined Democrats to restore $320 million for firefighter grants Wednesday evening even as Homeland Security Committee Chairman Peter King bluntly warned that new proposed cuts from port, transit and urban security assistance amount to an “invitation to an attack.”
Clearly this was occasioned by the drowning I reported yesterday.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
I bet Wiener does wish he was a plain old hot dog right about now.
Stopping the wars which I want right now wit a total draw down of ALL troops still won’t reduce the deficit it’s all non funded borrowed money. But at least it’s less we would have to borrow.
Mark, since Obama took office, it has been on budget.
I’m glad you are feeling better. 😉
I love Obermann – Chris Christie is an asshole of the highest proportions. What a douche for using the state helicopter to go see his son’s baseball game and then meet with Repubs from IA. Sarah Palin making up words like squimish is nothing new, but she is an idiot – we can all agree on that. Think about her speeches if she were president – they’d be worse than Bush’s, as if that were possible. 🙄
Yes they were. We need those tax cuts for the rich eliminated. We can’t get out of this mess without those. 😕
Where are they going to get $320M if they don’t raise the debt ceiling? 😯 😯
He also said he was acting a “little stiff” the other day. Come on Weiner, you’re better than this – quit feeding the Repubs more ammo.
Lisa are you running up your comment count? 😉
Thanks
Me too. I went to Current and requested they disable auto-start.
Amen!
They won’t.
That’s for sure, but it’s good fodder for humor!
WRT Editorial Cartoons – Some Info that Might be useful
There’s a fellow Kossak called JekyllnHyde who almost exclusively posts Op-Ed cartoons. In fact he has a weekly Diary of them – so big, that sometimes it’s split into two parts:
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/05/18/976562/-The-Week-in-Editorial-Cartoons,-Part-ITrump-Quits,-Many-Despondent,-WH-Issues-Statement?via=user
I notice that he uses a this site to obtain them:
http://www.politicalcartoons.com/Default.aspx
Now maybe he has lots of money and can subscribe w/ no problem. But I also notice that every single one of his cartoons includes a “Buy This Cartoon” link to the Cagle site. So maybe they have something that if you link back to them you get it for free or maybe a discount.
I couldn’t find a Fee scale, but I didn’t spend a lot of time dinking around, either. Just a FYI thing that may be worth a look-see.
Nameless, I’ll contact them and ask. I used to use cartoons from Daryl’s MSNBC site, until they reversed their “OK to embed” policy for bloggers. Now the going rate is $10 for one cartoon on one page.
4:14 Oh Man! Missed by one second yesterday and two seconds today. 👿 I am 48 out of 154 (312).
Ouch! I’m hard to beat today.
