Yesterday I was busy.  I cleaned my desk and side table, finding the long lost surfaces of both.  I searched for a new source of cartoons, without success.  And I collected the data for today’s monthly report.  I overslept, so I’m running behind schedule, but I am current on replies.  The plan for today is email spring cleaning. πŸ™

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today it took me 3:48 (average 4:19).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Boston Globe: Tornadoes roared through Massachusetts on Wednesday, as violent winds caused damage in about two dozen communities, ripping off roofs, uprooting trees, scattering debris and leaving at least four dead throughout the state.

Condolences to the families of the slain and prayers for all effected.  Nevertheless, tornados in MA?!!?  Bizarre weather, the hallmark of climate change, is becoming more and more common.

From Hollywood Reporter: Current TV has released the first promos for Keith Olbermann’s Countdown, which kicks off June 20.

I can’t wait!

From UN: A United Nations-ordered panel investigating human rights abuses in Libya says that Government forces have committed war crimes and crimes against humanity during the course of their crackdown on opposition forces seeking the ouster of Colonel Muammar al-Qadhafi.

Talk about stating the obvious! Now when will they come here to do Bush and Cheney?

  1. WRT Editorial Cartoons – I’m probably missing something, but it looks to me that you Comics.com folks are supposed to get two months of a FREE trial membership of GoComics Pro membership:

Many Comics.com members will be exploring GoComics for the first time today (June 1st), and we especially want to extend a warm welcome to you! We’re confident you’ll enjoy the variety of titles here at GoComics, as well as the benefits that come with the GoComics Pro membership, which we’ve made available for FREE to all Comics.com members for the next two months.

  2. I went to gocomics, right clicked on a cartoon, clicked on “save as”, and downloaded an image of the cartoon without the site complaining, all without being a member. Is the problem a copyright problem?

    • IANAL – but I’ve visited many other blogs that post pictures, cartoons, articles, etc. and simply post a “Fair Use Notice” … such as this:

      • Jerry and Nameless. Copyrighted cartoons are the intellectual property of the artists. It is announced on the site that the right to reprint a cartoon or use it on the web must be purchased, one cartoon at a time. When such a copyright notice is posted, fair use does not apply.

I received a reply from my email, and they confirmed that they have no provision to allow bloggers to use their work without purchasing it.

  3. 3:49 One second…to much. πŸ˜₯ I’m 48 out of 153 (314).
