Yesterday I went to see the denturist.  He took molds of my mouth with horrid tasting goop.  Because he’s originally Tex-Mex from the Fort Worth area, I razzed him a bit that his goop needed salsa mixed in with lots of habaneros.  Next week I see the dentist.  The following, extractions, and about 10 days after that, I get my dentures.  My bus was late so I walked the quarter mile between the stop and his office at a faster pace than normal.  I’m sore everywhere.  I’m current on replies, and today’s plan is to recover from yesterday.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today it took me 3:37 (average 4:56).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Boston Globe: The GOP plan to replace Medicare with vouchers will have to wait, party leaders acknowledged yesterday as lawmakers bowed to political realities in pursuing a deal to allow more government borrowing in exchange for big spending cuts.

No deal!  They actually expect something in return for giving up their own national embarrassment.  Let then try to put it through if they want.  And don’t let voter forget that they voted for it.

From Moveon.org: Robert Reich Exposes Republican Budget Scam.

If you think Republicans have given up their plans to scrap Social Security and Medicare, think again.  They are already trying to sneak it through the back door.

From TPM: This Memorial Day weekend, the starting grid of the 100th Indianapolis 500 will be missing one star driver: Donald Trump, who walked away from his gig as honorary pace car driver following withering criticism of his planned participation.

The economic pressure of boycott works.  He didn’t walk away.  They canned his ass.  Next his sponsors for The Apprentice.

  1. 3:37 Another tie. It is not a loss, but it does not count in the win column either. I’m 43 out of 126 (341).

  2. As Teapublicans rapidly try to distance themselves from their hopes of dismantling Medicare, it’s good to see Democrats are going to make them vote on Ryan’s fairy tale figures in his “Plan”
To paraphrase Sen. Schumer: You vote for it, you own it!

File this one under, “The Wheels of Justice Grind Slow …”

You remember Monica Gooding – the former oppo researcher for the RNC and graduate of Regent University School of Law, (which used to be Oral Roberts U. Law School – Michele Bachmann’s alma mater) who only hired rabid right-wing Talibangelical christianists before she was forced out of her position at the Dept. of Justice, finally got her just desserts.

She received a public reprimand from the Virginia State Bar which found that Goodling committed “a criminal or deliberately wrongful act” that reflected poorly on her “honesty, trustworthiness or fitness to practice law.”

    • That’s great news, except that she should have been disbarred altogether. She was a prime mover in the politicization of DOJ.

  3. My ex did something similar to me. He changed the schedule so that it met what the judge said, but we have no signed agreement as to what is in and what is out. I just emailed him about the change saying that we have no signed agreement yet so the schedule stays the same. I’m waiting for his head to explode.

Yeah, nice try, but no dice.

    Great cartoon!
