Yesterday my eyes continued slight improvement. It seems the royal wedding has taken over the news cycle, pure heresy on a holy day for the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb, the Festival of New Meat, which continues. May the Denver congregation be blessed with stars. Iβm current on replies.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Yesterday it took me 4:08 (4:45 average). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Short Takes:
From KUOW: Oregon lawmakers are moving ahead with a measure that would create a buffer between mourners and protesters at funerals. The move comes in response to a Kansas group that’s picketed funerals of military members and others as a way of spreading their anti-gay message.
The Oregon measure would give people holding funerals a 400-foot buffer zone from protesters. That’s about the distance from home plate to the outfield fence at a Major League Baseball stadium.
I consider this a good balance. Itβs close enough to be relevant, preserving 1st Amendment rights, but far enough away to give grieving families some relief. Itβs sad that Phelps and his bigoted Republican minions make such a law necessary.
From FOK News Channel: Keith has a grand idea for Arizona, recalling Jonathan Swift.
Sadly, once they realizeed what they bought, China would declare war on us out ov vengeance.
From Alternet: Bradley Manning, the jailed US soldier accused of passing classified documents to WikiLeaks, faces far less restrictive conditions at a Kansas military prison where he was relocated last week, US officials said Thursday.
If true, this is welcome news, but this does not excuse his mistreatment to date.

Friday stinks! (This was not intended to be a factual statement.)

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Just an observation WRT the Oregon law: When Fred Phelps and his Westboro Baptist “church” picketed Lance Corporal Matthew Snyder’s funeral, they were in a designated area 1,000 feet from the church. The funeral possession itself passed about 250 feet away from the Phelps clan, and Maryland’s law required they be only 100 feet from the funeral itself or the procession.
SCOTUS was in strong support of our First Amendment (8-1), and agreed that earlier judgements and appeals awarding the Snyder family almost $11 million was wrong – and reversed it in Snyder v. Phelps Et Al:

Hmmm… I’ll have to look for the details.
3:27 π I’m 42 out of 119 (353).
Today will be more difficult.
I think that the royal wedding has made more than a few people go around the bend lately. Hey, we got out freedom from them almost 235 years ago. Let it go already!
Hahahahahahaha! At that distance, you wouldn’t even be able to hear them, even with a loud horn. Good on Oregon.
Damn, I lost my certificate of circumcision in a fire. Now what do I do?
Agreed, for Bradley Manning, Now we torture our own people. Bring charges against (personally, I think he’s a hero for what he did), and try him or let him go. This isn’t Gitmo.
Can the states trump a federal law? I don’t think they can….
Lisa, if it was your coronation, you’d have a different attitude. π
Phelps and his Republicans should be subjected to racial discrimination. Human race only.
Provide videotape of your briss. (This I HAVE to see!) π
I think so too, Lisa, but when we commit civil disobedience in protest, accepting the consequences is part of the heroism.
SCOTUS seems divided on that Lisa. If a Red state trumps a Democrat passed law, they can. If a Blue state trumps a Republican passed law, they can’t.
