Yesterday I did not get to go to the prison as planned.  I woke up with pink-eye in both eyes.  ARGH!  I can barely see through the tearing and stinging.  Because it is highly contagious, I could not risk my co-volunteers, and especially the guys, because the health care they get in prison is where incompetence and apathy join forces.  So I’m home tonight too, so articles will continue, but expect more typos.  I’m the King of Typo, even when I can see.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today it took me 4:09 (average 5:04).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From San Francisco Chronicle: President Obama said a Justice Department probe will examine the role of "traders and speculators" in oil markets and how they contribute to high gasoline prices.

"The attorney general’s putting together a team whose job it is to root out any cases of fraud or manipulation in the oil markets that might affect gas prices, and that includes the role of traders and speculators," Obama said Thursday in Reno.

When he’s wrong, I criticize him.  This time he isn’t.  Kudos!

From FOK News Channel: Keith tells the Donald to FOK off!

I like Wonkette, but Keith is right.  Making fun of a disabled kid is ovenoundedr the line.  That’s  the kind of slime we expect from Republicans.  Lawrence O’Donnell announced that Trump’s replacement for Seinfeld is Brett Michaels, but does not know who he ls.  He’s the aging lead singer of Poison, now famous for MTV reality shows, in which over-siliconed, hot-mess groupies compete to be his girl friend.  If that’s the best Trump can do, LOL!

From Reuters: A reputed neo-Nazi accused of planting a backpack bomb along the parade route of a Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration was newly charged on Thursday with committing federal hate crimes.

The latest charges against Kevin Harpham, 36, were added to a federal indictment originally returned last month in an alleged bombing attempt in Spokane, Washington, on January 17, a national holiday celebrating the birth of the slain civil rights leader.

That’s one Republican wou won’t get to vote for a while. 🙂

I hate Fridays! (That was not intended to be a factual statement.)

  1. Keith is great and right-on as always. On a side note: I haven’t heard lately. Have you been successful in stopping smoking altogether, I hope? Happy Easter, my friend!

    • Jack, the cravings have not diminished one iota. I break down once or twice a week, but the difference shows. I’ve only passed out choking once this month.

  2. Since you asked to keep you posted on Koran-burning Terry Jones’ hope to have a hate-mongering rally at the largest mosque in Dearborn, MI (city with the largest Muslim population) – it’s now become a jury trial:

With some of metro Detroit’s biggest political and religious leaders united behind Muslims in Dearborn, Florida Pastor Terry Jones is expected to appear in court this morning for a jury trial that will determine whether he can hold a rally at the largest mosque in the city.

How they got a jury trial setup that quickly I have NO idea – but it’s doubtful his hoped-for Good Friday rally will come to pass. Of note is that the ACLU is supportive of the idea of Jones being able to hold a rally. Whether he’ll have to pay a fee to provide police protection or hold it in one of Dearborn’s designated “Free Speech” areas is as yet undetermined.

  3. Oh man! 5:47 on the puzzle. I so suck!

    Yes, Donald, FOK off!

  4. 4:15 Hell, I can’t even beat you when you are half blind. 🙂 I am now 40 out of 112 (357).

    • The trick was that I kept the worst eye closed, so I saw only one puzzle. Today I’m beatable, but doing so will be an accomplishment.
