Yesterday, I looked at “Law and Crime” for possible short takes, and it’s another day when it isn’t just filled with crime stories, but instead with weird crime stories. Like, not just murder, but “God told him to sacrifice.” Not just murder, but cannibalism to “cure his brain.” Not just hit and run, but fatal hit and run while fleeing another hit and run. A dude who committed a string of crimes who, when arrested, had a checklist in his pocket (not for the crimes, but for supplies to commit them, e.g. a lighter and lighter fluid to commit arson.) So I checked the almanac. And we were just coming off a full moon – waning gibbous 99% visible. Go figure.

Crooks and Liars – Rick Perry Sent Meadows Text Outlining ‘Aggressive’ Strategy To Invalidate Election
Quote – Members of the House Select Committee investigating the January 6 attack on the US Capitol believe that former Texas Governor and Trump Energy Secretary Rick Perry was the author of a text message sent to then-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows the day after the 2020 election pushing an “AGRESSIVE (sic) STRATEGY” for three state legislatures to ignore the will of their voters and deliver their states’ electors to Donald Trump, three sources familiar with the House Committee investigation tell CNN.
Click through for details (and a bit of background). At this point, what they actually know is that it was sent from his phone. He claims ignorance. I Know what I believe, but I also know a little bit about slander and libel.
Reuters – U.S. Senators Warren, Booker test positive for COVID-19
Quote – Warren, a Massachusetts Democrat, 72, said on Twitter she is vaccinated and boosted and regularly tested for COVID-19, and “while I tested negative earlier this week, today I tested positive with a breakthrough case.” Booker, 52, a New Jersey Democrat, said on Twitter he had learned Sunday of his positive test “after first feeling symptoms on Saturday.” He added he had “relatively mild” symptoms and recently had received a vaccine booster. “I’m certain that without them I would be doing much worse,” he said.
Click through for more, and don’t panic, they are both doing well, with only mild symptoms. Both have taken 3 shots.
The Guardian – Capitol attack panel will determine if Trump committed crime – Republican
Quote – Adam Kinzinger, one of two Republicans on the House committee investigating the deadly 6 January Capitol attack incited by Donald Trump, said on Sunday he was not “yet” ready to declare the former president guilty of a crime – but that the panel was investigating the likelihood that he is. “Nobody is above the law,” the Illinois congressman told CNN’s State of the Union. “And if the president knowingly allowed what happened on 6 January to happen, and, in fact, was giddy about it, and that violates a criminal statute, he needs to be held accountable for that.”
Click through. The headline promises a little more than the quotes deliver, but not much. Cheney and Kinzinger are two extremely unusual Republoicans.

Cartoon: *The United States Invasion of Panama, codenamed Operation Just Cause, lasted over a month between mid-December 1989 and late January 1990. The primary purpose of the invasion was to depose the de facto Panamanian leader, general and dictator Manuel Noriega.*wiki
C&L: He was a jerk as governor, and I read that he’s not changed. At.All.
Reuters: Glad that they got the shots and booster. PTL.
Guardian: Will be interesting to read if they view him as guilty. I firmly believe that TOT was up to no good, and imho, a traitor to this great country of ours.
Cartoon: LOL
This just in: TJI “Never forget “Fox News” defends itself in defamation lawsuits on the basis that it is an entertainment – not a news – organization.” ~A Worried Citizen ~
2. “The media was more outraged over the Vice President’s new pans than they are about Mark Meadows and Donald Trump orchestrating a coup.” ~ Aaron Parnas ~
3. “Voting rights are the cornerstone of our democracy. If we fail to protect the right to vote, we will fall to fascism.” ~ Robert Reich ~
4. “Lead exposure in our nation is an emergency. For children, it can severely harm mental and physical development. Our Bipartisan Infrastructure Law invests $15 billion to replace lead service lines – which will protect the health of our communities.” ~ Vice President Kamala Harris ~
5. “We need the Senate to pass the Freedom To Vote Act and RestoreThe VRA before they go on recess.” ~ Karen Lawson ~
That was under Bush One, so I’m inclined to regard the code name as meaning “just [be]cause” rather than believing our cause was actually just.
TJI #1 – Indeed. Also that their mottot, “fair and balanced,” does not mention either truth or facts.
TJI #2 – A dead giveway that they have never done any actual, physical work. Because if they had, they might understand the importantce of haveing the best possible tools.
TJI #3 – And he is SO-O-O-O-O-O right!
TJI #4 – True that, but not something I’d think of as a persuarder for Republican politicians. They WANT a nation of mentally impaired voters.
TJI #5 – I fear that ship has sailed.
TJI#1: Ain’t that the flipping truth? Glad I never was one to watch it.
TJI#3: So very true.
TJI#4: Kamala speaks truth, it’s too bad the rotten R’s don’t give a da*n about the people’s health.
Cartoon: Not familiar with that one. I thank Pat for putting the facts about that day.
C&L: Rotten creep. I’m glad all of the facts, these text messages are being brought out. Hopefully he’ll join tRump, and all his buddies to pay for their evil sins.
Reuters: Heard about both of them last night on the nightly news. Was happy to hear that they’re only experiencing mild symptoms, they say thanks to them both having their shots and booster too.
Guardian: With all of the evidence they’ve found, I’m sure tRumpy will be found guilty of all sorts of crimes. Then hopefully he’ll be locked up so we’ll never have to worry about him ever having anything to do with politics again.
Food for Thought: Cute one.
Hope you had a pleasant day.
Take care. Thanks Joanne
