Yesterday, I started working on cartoons. I need to make 10 for December, and 9 are in the first 17 days. I got some done, but didn’t finish. (I also needed to make a grocery order for tomorrow – which means tomorrow I’ll be putting away. Sigh.)

Short Takes
Democratic Underground (Babylon Sister) – A day in the Life of Sue Republican
Quote – She arrives at her childhood home. Her generation was the third to live in the house financed by Farmers’ Home Administration because bankers didn’t want to make rural loans. The house didn’t have electricity until some big-government liberal stuck his nose where it didn’t belong and demanded rural electrification. She is happy to see her father, who is now retired. Her father lives on Social Security and a union pension because some wine-drinking, cheese-eating liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Sue wouldn’t have to.
Click through for full anecdote. This is not new – it was written some years ago as “Joe Republican” and credited to Michael Moore, but it applies to both sexes.
Crooks and Liars – Trump Is Now Placing Own Election Officials Across Country
Quote – Trump allies are also seeking to replace officials across the nation, including volunteer poll watchers, paid precinct judges, elected county clerks and state attorneys general, according to state and local officials, as well as rally speeches, social media posts and campaign appearances by those seeking the positions.
Click through for a little more, and through again to the Washington Post for still more. My state has laws designed to protect against nefarious behavior by anyone working the election, paid or voluntary (for example, a Republican poll worker cannot even go to the bathroom without a Republican poll worker going along, and vice versa). I’m sure the drafters of those laws were not contemplating perfidy on a scale like this … but they should help. In states which have them. I am seriously concerned about states which don’t have them.
The 19th – Supreme Court indicates it could eliminate a core element of Roe v. Wade
Quote – The court’s justices were also split on what the implications of such a ruling would mean for other major court-protected rights that are not explicitly mentioned in the Constitution, but that are predicated on similar interpretations as Roe v. Wade. Those include the right to LGBTQ+ marriage, for instance, the constitutional protection for sexual intercourse between people of the same sex, or the right to use contraception.
Click through for solid reporting. Keep an eye on Justice Sotomayor. She seems to be the one asking the difficult questions. Although Justice Kagan is also not silent.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
You sound very busy with getting cartoons ready, and groceries being delivered, and put away. But then, you’re always busy with news that is positive and refreshing. TY!
Cartoon: YAY!
DU: Good Grief!!! Doesn’t see the good in what the Dems do and say in a caring way. She needs to remove the blinders that she wears….but! as an R, she won’t. Sad, indeed.
C&L: Ewww….I don’t like the ‘sound’ and ‘actions’ that the R’s are doing.. Sneaky pete’s. We must be ever vigilant to make sure that this doesn’t happen again.
FFT: Word.
This just in: “A Children’s Medical Center Dallas program offering multi-level care for transgender youth was considered the first of its kind in the Southwest. The program was formally dissolved this month after itbecame the target of conservative backlash.” ~ Karen Harper ~
2. “Hey @houstonpolice, you have a problem. If anyone has contacts there, they should take this seriously. It’s on Mike Flynn’s @telegram channel where people are highly radicalized and tend to be in the military.” ~ @Jim Stewartson ~
3. “The way Republicans are obsessing over Kamala Harris’ spending $300 on a pan, you’d think she’d spent $150 MILLION of taxpayers money to play golf at resorts she owned.” ~ Robert C. ~
4. “Greg Abbott said we did everything we needed to do to fix ERCOT. Obviously…that’s not the case. Texans deserve a governor who can keep the lights on.” ~ Don Huffines ~
5.”Please help your fellow citizens #SignUpForHealth & support the Rep. McGovern Senator Booker bill to establish a White House conference on food, nutrition, health & hunger. ~ Rep McGovern
TJI #1 – This just makes me want to cry.
TJI #2 – This is just part of the atory … but Im sure I can find the rest, probably without even trying hard. Scary.
TJI #3 – Maybe Hillary should have spent $300 on a cookie sheet.
TJI #4 – Greg must really think Texans are stupid (Yeah, some are – that’s true of every state.)
TJI #5 – Cool.
Comment from Mitch –
DU: They take these things for granted, and insist that they are independent actors, living their lives like a John Wayne character. But, Even Wayne, did not make the rifle with which he single handedly defeated the forces of evil, nor the bullets it used, nor raised the horse he rides,
from a colt, nor the grain he feeds the horse, nor the boots he wears…. Hey, it’s Christmas time, she ought to be glad that Scrooge did not
put her Dad in the poor house, dumb bitch!
C&L: Perfidy, thy name is Dumpshit!
!9th: Sotomayor, of Da Bronx, ought to take some of those justices to the shed, and teach them what JUSTICE means!
FFT: Damned Commie Librals!!
Mitch
Greetings All –
I’m plugging along w/ the vetting of all the new computer stuff.
I got my new PC tower & laptop ordered, but it looks like they won’t get here until after Christmas.
🙁
I also bought a new Wi-Fi router. I’ve never had Wi-Fi before – I’ve always been tethered to my USB cord. But now that they have “mesh routers” I decided to untether myself:
And I’ve also ordered a new modem since mine is well over 10 years old and seemed to be having some stability problems (although it could have been the PC itself).
To top it off, I’m getting a new phone. My current one is a Samsung Galaxy S5 – but they’re now up to at least S21, so it’s not like I’ve been on the cutting edge phone-wise. Unfortunately, it won’t be getting here until January … if I’m lucky!
So this Christmas I’m buying gifts for the most important person in my life: ME! 😉
But unfortunately, to keep my medical license active I have to earn all my Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits by 12/31/21. I no longer do pediatric lessons and tests, but focus on learning about my own medical problems. They’re actually not easy to begin with, but switching specialty focus to Internal Medicine makes it even harder.
So I’ll still be trekking to the library to get that done in time.
So nice to see you, only if it’s just “Here today, gone tomorrow” for now.
My uncle owned a pedigreed German Shepherd, and used to brag about her pedigree by saying,”If she could talk, she wouldn’t tal to any of us..” Your new system – will it talk to any of our compoters? I mean, it sounds quite elite. (JK of course.Good for you.)
Yeah, it’ll talk to you guys – and I’ll be able to do it at home!
Even my tech guy who recovered my data from the “dead” PC’s internal hard drive said it’ll be a beast. But I don’t think a new system every 10-15 years is too extravagant.
And besides, I want it to be “future-proof” so as new things come out I won’t have to be upgrading or buying new gadgets for a long, long time.
Good to know – not that I expected anthing les. And another good thing is, unlike my uncle’s dog, it won’t imprint on you (that ended up being a running snicker.)
May all your choices perform as desired Nameless and arrive sooner than promised.
Cartoon: Glad it did.
DU: Don’t care for her way of thinking, heartless in my opinion.
C&L: Hate to even think of that ever happening to our country again. We suffered enough.
19TH: I wish they’d stop playing around with the this. It should be the woman’s right to do whatever she wants with her body. She’s the one who will have to live with her choice.
Hope you got more done with the cartoons you’re creating. Plus was able to get your grocery order submitted.
I’ve been suffering with issues with the upper gums. I suffer with bone loss and it’s causing me major issues too. I wish dental work was covered, but other than cleanings and yearly checkups, major things aren’t.
Take care. Thanks Joanne
I’m so sorry about your gums! I’ve been fortunate with my mouth – my gums have been tender from time too time but no cavities until the last year or so and then nothing I needed dentl work for. But bone loss – that is something else entirely. I assume you’ve been taking calcium? I’ve been told magnesium helps to boost calcium, but all it does for me is give me Republicosis. So I just stick to the calcium.
Thanks Joanne. I do take the calcium daily due to my osteoporosis issue, Plus I take magnesium multiple times a day, take extra at night to help me sleep. I also know about the issue of Republicosis. I have both IBS/IBD. Which is no help either.
