Yesterday was Giving Tuesday, and also the last day of November, and had I not already known that, I would have deduced it from my email inbox, which was well over 200 by 3:00 pm, and may even have broken 300 by midnoght. Next Tuesday will be a little heavy too, but not like yesterday. It’s only “Colorado Gives” Day.

Short Takes
Coooks amd Liars (St. Louis Post-Dispatch) – Editorial Calls For Investigation Of Cruz And Hawley
Quote – Hawley and Cruz were the only two senators to object to certification of Joe Biden’s clear victory in the 2020 election results, citing (with zero evidence) supposed concerns about the election’s integrity. That was the same baseless, toxic nonsense then-President Donald Trump had been spewing since before the election. Such talk whipped up the mob of Trump loyalists to attack the Capitol on Jan. 6.
Click through for more. My only criticism of this is that we have really got to stop saying “Trump** loyalists” abd start saying “Trump** cultists.”
New Mexico Poliitical Report – Study: Emergency managers should plan for volcanic eruptions in the southwest
Quote – The type of volcanoes found in the southwest are also different from those of the Pacific Northwest. While scientists monitor Mount Saint Helens and other volcanoes for activity that could signal another eruption, Valentine said the future eruptions in the southwest are unlikely to come from the same spot, or vent, where past eruptions occurred. This makes monitoring for future eruptions a bit more challenging.
Click through for more science. Well, this is interesting. Though not – they say – anything to stress about.
The 19th – What you need to know about the Supreme Court case that could overturn Roe v. Wade
Quote – The court has heard cases on specific types of abortion laws, weighing in on whether different types of restrictions and regulations violate that “undue burden” standard. But this case poses a different kind of question. It’s an outright challenge to the core protections established in 1973. In its legal filings, the state of Mississippi has argued that the court should overturn Roe v. Wade entirely and allow states to individually determine whether abortion remains legal or not.
Click through for history, details, and probability estimates. I hope I don’t need to tell anyone here that this is not just a women’s issue but affects everyone. Many of us are old enough to remember what it was like before Roe.

Wow, that’s a LOT of emails coming in. I don’t see TX doing something like CO. Shame on us.
Had a delightful and wonderful day yesterday, went too fast. Great and fun memories.
Cartoon: Ms. Parks was brave and stood up for her rights. She had more strength and savvy in her little finger than the jerks who tormented her. “Congress honored her as “the First Lady of Cvil Rights” and “the Mother of the Freedom Movement”. *wiki
C&L: Cruz is an embarrassment to Texas, and Hawley follows suit. I hope that the Senate Ethics Panel subpoenas both of them (and quickly), they need to resign. Sick a–hats!
NMPR: Wow! Very scary and frightening. A family member still living in OR, said the ash created a large swath too. 1980’s….or so…
FFT: Sign me up for progressivism, all the way.
THIS JUST IN: “A group of Democrats is waging a campaign to get Far Right Lauren Boebert removed from her committee assignment(s) after it was revealed that she made Islamophobic comments about IIhan Omar at a recent event.” ~ Janet Valcho ~
2. “Give me thumbs up and retweet if you trust Dr. Fauci.” ~ Big Bird for US Senate ~ (LOVE this one!)
3. “On December 1st, the fate of Roe v. Wade lies with the Supreme Court. Again. It’s time to write reproductive rights into federal aw.” ~ Amy Klobuchar ~
4. “BIG: There were ZERO Covid-19 deaths yesterday in New York City — with a population of almost 9 MILLION and an adult vaccination rate of nearly 90 PERCENT. Vaccines work! Pass it on.” ~ Jon Cooper ~
5. “Muna Mohamed, who serves in our @US2SOMALIA [1] mission, has been named the @StateDept [2] ‘s 2021 Foreign Service National of the Year for her outstanding work in support of American diplomacy. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor, and thank you for your service!” ~ Wendy R. Sherman, DepSecState ~
TJI #1 – Agreed, but I think the fact that she gave Capitol tours a day or two before the insurrection, combned with the fact that she tweeted out Speaker Pelosi’s whereabouts during the insurrection, are even stronger reasons for removal.
TJI #2 –
TJI #3 – Yes, they are hearing arguments, but it culd be June before we get a verdict. And Justice Sotomayor just asked a very pertinent question of one of the attorneys which he couldn’t answer : “How is your view anything but a religious view?”
TJI #4 – It irritates me that we are in a position of having to try to prove the obvious (obvious to anyone who knows the first thing about science) to people who won’t listen anyway.
TJI #5 – So when do “conservative” heads stary exploding?
TJI#1: I agree too. Now after reading Joanne’s comment, I say she definitely needs to be removed.
TJI#2: Thumbs UP for sure.
TJI#3: Praying for Women Rights. It’s her body. Let her have the say.
TJI#4: The vaccines work. Wish people would wise up and get vaccinated.
Yes, I’ve got a ton of e-mails to delete also. Don’t know of an Ohio day that’s comparable. Legislature (GQP/NRA) always having MO’ fetuses to term so as to sell ’em MO GUNZ & AMMO if white, likely gerrymander if dem/non-white day when in session. SMH Rosa Parks took a brave stand and changed history! Ted & Josh will hopefully have a meet-up w/karma—-the sooner the better. New Mexico: interesting, had no idea Roe: I listened to some of it this AM. Would like to be hopeful but legislation may have to be the route to choice, idk. FFT: Nails it. I’m w/PB, per usual. Take care, all. Getting my Moderna booster tomorrow. Go science!
Best to you, Spy Kat for your getting your Moderna booster.
I got sick as a pup on the 1st Moderna..but all good for the second, and booster.
Rest if need be. Take care!
I vaguely knew that at least some volcanoes had more than one “vent” – I didn’t know thatany of them could erupt, and the idea of large areas having multiple, widely separated vents is new to me also – althugh I did know the surface we know is basically a crust over a ball of molten lava. It does make sense, although it’s a new way to look at it, and therefore seems strange.
Good for you getting your booster. I have January 10 on my calendar to get mine, although I won’t actually make the appoointment till it’s closer. I had no trouble with the first or second. Hope yours goes smoothly.
Good luck getting your Moderna booster tomorrow, SpyKat.
I had the Pfizer vaccines including the Pfizer booster one too.
When I got the first one, my left arm was sore for about a day. Other than that, I didn’t have any other side effects.
Take care.
Comment from Mitch –
C&L: Investigate, and do so fully. I took a few minutes to listen to the press conference done by Ilhan Omar. OH MY GOODNESS!!New Mexico: Very interesting. I’ve been to White Sands, and Taos, and understand that a pueblo in,or just outside of Taos, is the
place in the U.S., if not North America, in which people have most continuously lived…for over 1,000 years.
The 19th: As I understand it, none of this is about abortion, but abortion is being used as a proxy for a march towards theocracy. As I understand it, abortion is nowhere mentioned in any bible.
FFT: Spot-on!
Mitch
Cartoon: I praise her for saying NO when she did. So many look up to her now with so much respect for her braveness.
C&L: I hope that they investigate cRuz and his buddies too. They’re all a disgrace to our country for the evil actions they’ve displayed. Hopefully the Senate Panel will get enough dirt on them to prosecute and lock them up.
NMPR: Interesting information. I was unaware of the difference between volcanos. Learn something new. I too always thought volcanos only had one vent.
Food for Thought: I’m 100% for Progressivism.
Between Cyber Monday and Giving Tuesday, my inbox had tripled. As for California having any type of giving day, I’m not familiar with it.
My son and his wife left about an hour ago. Nice visit.
Hope your day went well.
Take care. Thanks Joanne
I’m so glad you had a good visit with your kids. Between everyone being so busy and CoViD they are not all that easy to come by (Anyone besides me remember “Cat’s in the Cradle” Harry Chapin?)
