John Boehner (R-Joe’s Bar and Tanning Studio) claims that Republicans do not want a government shutdown and deceitfully blames failure to negotiate by Democrats.  That is a lie, expected because Republicans could not be elected without lying.   There is ample evidence that it is Republicans, not Democrats, that are setting the stage for a shutdown.

BonerOrangeAs a government shutdown looms, President Obama, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D), and House Speaker John Boehner (R) are locked in ongoing discussions over an appropriations bill that would keep the government running. However, even as Obama has offered three-quarters of what Republicans are demanding, Boehner has thus far refused to budge.

The reason for Boehner’s intransigence is increasingly clear: as Republicans and Democratic lawmakers negotiate, Boehner is giving the Tea Party veto-power. Sen. Chuck Schumer detailed this point while discussing the ongoing negotiations on Good Morning America this week, noting that “The tea party just continues to pull Speaker Boehner further back and back and back. They’re the people who say they don’t want compromise. They’re the people who say they relish a shutdown.” Still, Boehner and other Republican leaders have asserted that Democrats are the only ones who want to see a government shutdown. (A ThinkProgress compilation video shows otherwise.)… [emphasis added]

Now it’s clear that government shutdown is part of Teabuggery dogma.

But, while everyone want’s to blame them, they are not the only ones.

Did you hear that?  When Agent Orange reported that he had no deal, the Republican Caucus cheered.

Now let’s not forget here, the Tea Party is not a separate entity from the Republican party.  They are a completely astro-turfed segment of the Republican base, and they function much the same as the Brownshirts (SA) did with Germany’s National Socialists, as Republican storm troopers.  If the Republican party did not want the Teabaggers taking the stance they have, their corporate masters would have told them what to think, and convinced them that they thought of it themselves.

Finally, it Republicans were serious about negotiation, they would not have loaded the bill with Theocon policy riders that are poison pills for Democrats.

  1. Seriously what do they care if the government and all of the “non essential” servces like weather monitoring and food inspection etc. stop? I mean both sides of the debate, they really DO NOT CARE because they personally will be wholly unaffected in the short term because orange man refuses to even consider Barbara Boxers bill which would stop congress, unlike other federal employee’s from receiving paychecks. The Teabaggers say to stop them from being paid would be unconstitutional, but the constitution says you can not change their rate of pay it says nothing about not paying them for not working. Hell they won’t even have to use vacation days or PTO days to keep their personal finances on track.

There is a hell and it is in the hearts of politicians.

  2. The Tea Party is proving itself to be the most destructive and regressive force in the history of American politics. They are followed very closely by the modern ultra-conservative Republican Party. The GOP will be rightfully blamed shut a shutdown occur (they’ve done NOTHING for the past 4 years anyway), and I hope it will wake up enough voters to kick their asses out of government entirely in 2012! Boehner, and ALL of his GOP and teabagger cohorts, are definitely liars!

  3. tbaggers = repugs

    repugs = tbaggers

The whore media framed the two as separate but those with an oz of brains who choose to think for themselves knew otherwise.

Like you say TC they are one in the same and it was always was like that.

They are just as bad or worse than anything the Nazi’s produced.

  4. I wonder what the teabaggers will say when their social security checks stop flowing? They will probably claim that SS has run out of money and that it is proof that it should be privatized.

  5. Okey dokey then, there goes Homeland Security (which they all love sooo much), and the military should all be sent home – I mean, they’re not getting paid so why should they stay in some shithole when they could be with their families. Let’s see what you got Boner – go ahead and put it all on the line. Hell, he doesn’t even know what number he wants. 😯

  6. I am so sick of the Tea Baggers , Boner and all the crap they continue to regurgitate ;no matter what rational people think , say , or do ; these Sons of Bitches are going ahead– Their goal now is pretty clear– demolish every support , anything in place that actually is good for this country–that assists real people with real living.
Disarm the TSA- cut it in 1/2— Cut the bloated military– by 50%– we would still have the most powerful military in the world—This makes sense—Cutting the EPA- Planned Parenthood makes no sense and will save no significant money– it’s all about ideology– I am sick of the Christian Taliban getting away with imposing their ideology on the country– And getting away with it !!

It is also time for our fearful leader- to lead- dammit , MR President– say No—!! to these cuts– be a leader and stop this craven performance you are putting on– You are capable of greatness- lets see real fire and leadership.

  7. Obama has said he will veto the one week spending bill. It’s all so damn disgusting. Hopefully it will blow up in their faces but, in the meantime, people will be hurt.

  8. All or nothing, black and white thinking is the mark of adolescents. When adults are thinking like this, we have to wonder if there’s not a case of arrested development at work. Americans get the government they deserve. You elect middle schoolers to Congress, you get juvenile results.
