Yesterday, I was mostly able to rest. I know it looks like I did a lot of work, but most of the stuff more or less fell into my lap. I was able to do some crocheting (I’m working on a top for a friend who helps me out a lot – with rides when my Dodge was falling apart to picking up prescriptions that I can’t have mailed to sending her sons over to deal with my yard. And more. I like to show I’m grateful.

AP News – Rev. Jesse Jackson, wife Jacqueline hospitalized for COVID
Quote – Jesse Jackson, 79, is vaccinated against the virus and received his first dose in January during a publicized event as he urged others to receive the inoculation as soon as possible. He and his wife, 77, are being treated at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
Click through for details (including some unrelated ones). Of course Jesse is fully vaccinated. I’ve not seen credible confirmation that Jacqueline is, but it would surprise me if she were not. Prayers still won’t hurt.
The Hill – Arizona elections officials launch bipartisan assault on GOP audit
Quote – Hobbs, Richer and others who object to the Senate-ordered review have been particularly critical of Cyber Ninjas and its chief executive, Doug Logan, who spread misinformation about the 2020 election before the firm was hired. The Senate signed Cyber Ninjas, a firm with no experience in conducting election audits, without a bid process, even though an experienced election audit firm had offered its own services.
Click Through for story. It’s nice that this is bipartisan. I have worked with many Republican County Clerks and Secretaries of State who took their jobs seriously and did not cheat. I’m glad there are still some around.
The New Yorker (Borowitz Report) – F.D.A. Withdraws Approval from “Whatever Drug Rand Paul Is On”
Quote – The agency emphasized that it did not know what drug the senator was taking, or whether he was taking any drug at all, but asserted that it was withdrawing its approval out of a concern for public safety.
Click through – This is the same day they approved the Pfizer CoViD vaccine. They are on a roll!

Cartoon: A horrible and sad day. Massacre of French Huguenots (Protestants) in Paris on August 24/25, 1572, plotted by Catherine de’ Medici and carried out by Roman Catholic nobles and other citizens. *Britannia
AP: Prayers, and prayers and prayers for beloved Rev. Jackson and his wife, to recover.
NYer: Love AB. Thanks for the laughs, Andy!
FFT: Good grief !!
Glad that you had a chance to rest. Your caring friend sounds awesome. It makes a heart feel good, when I read your note, how sweet. I too, have friends like that, and I’m very grateful for them.
TJI: TJI “The year after I had polio, a new vaccine was released. Parents rushed to get their kids vaccinated. Polio is now gone from our country & most of the world. Thankfully there were no politicians dividing us. Americans gratefully embraced the vaccine. It was a gift- and a blessing.” ~ Mia Farrow ~

3. “Terrific news! For the THIRD day in a row, more than one million Americans got vaccinated!” ~ Jon Cooper ~

Stars & Stripes-
TJI #1 – I can still remember the joy and relief we had with the both the Salk and Sabin vaccines!
Maybe that heightens my utter frustration and anger w/ today’s anti-vaxxers.
TJI#1: Was unaware of Mia Farrow ever having Polio. Makes me angry that we even have politicians who are playing with our health issues, especially regarding Covid-19 vaccines.
TJI#2: If that’s what it’s going to take to get these anti-vaxxers to get vaccinated, I stand with them.
TJI#3: I pray that it continues. Now that the FDA has approved the Pfizer vaccine, more companies are going to make it mandatory to be vaccinated to be allowed in various places; theaters restaurants, indoor concerts, and sporting events. So I guess if people want to go out and enjoy life, they’ll need to be vaccinated.
TJI#4: Yep, that sounds like his crazy ways.
TJI#5: Good to hear. They deserve all that they are given.
I am suspicious as to just how much Catherine had to do with it. Throughout history, women have been accused of so many crimes they didn’t do because misogyny, (some men have too, because politics).I’d like some evidence before deciding she was a monster.
TJI #1 – I didn’t know Mia Farrow was a polio survivor. Props to her for this message. (I did, of course, know about Alan Alda.)
TJI #2 – And who can blame them. The situation is pure political interference with a crucial public health function.
TJI #3 – That is good news. (Isn’t 3 mill about 1% of all Americans)
TJI #4 – LOL!
TJI #5 – K-9s are soldier, with service numbers and ranks (the rule is the dog’s rank is one higher than the handlers.) The degree of sympathy I have for others is generally not based on race, color, or even species, but on how much control they have over their own existences – which means my deepest sympathies tend to go to refugees, children, and animals over any adult humans except the developmentally disabled. Of course that’s just me. There would be people who would scream bloody murder no matter how the K-9 corps were handled.
Cartoon: Sad day indeed.
AP: I heard this on the news the other night. Supposedly Jacqueline never was vaccinated. I would of thought she would of done it when Jesse did. They will be in my prayers for them to have a speedy recovery.
The Hill: Good for them. Sick of even hearing the rotten R’s and GOPiggies crying fowl about the 2020 election.
The New Yorker: Hilarious. R. Paul needs to be placed in a mental ward and that goes for his buddies too.
Food for Thought: Sick minded idiot….A true tRump supporter.
That’s nice that your crocheting a top for your friend. It will make a lovely “thank you” gift for her. Homemade gifts are so special.
I had to go see the gynecologist that did my surgery 18 months ago. I never got to go sooner, due to Covid-19 having everything closed down. She said everything looked healthy where the surgery was and then took a pap smear. That she’ll call me when the results come back, 7-10 days from now.
Hope you were able to get some more rest today and your day was a pleasant one.
Take care. Thanks Joanne
Glad to hear your surgery has healed well. Do let us know on the PAP.
I’m so happy to hear you’re recovering well from your operation despite your gynaecologist not having been able to look into it sooner. Doesn’t bear thinking what would have happened if you hadn’t healed well and had needed to visit a hospital in lock-down.
Thank you both. I truly appreciate it.
Hugs.
I think your appreciation will be much appreciated, Joanne.
Cartoon: This picture could also be used for the Republicans looking down on the COVID deaths they caused.
AP: It only goes to show that vaccination doesn’t protect 100% against infection but helps stop spreading infection the more people are vaccinated. And after about 6-8 months a booster shot is required to prevent getting seriously ill, especially from newer variants. I hope both Jacksons were vaccinated which at their age at least gives them a fighting chance against a COVID infection.
TH: “Bipartisan”. Well, well, well, I don’t see that word very often in a constructive context.
TNY: If the FDA is not approving a drug Rand Paul isn’t taking, does that imply the FDA isn’t approving Rand Paul, Andy?
FFT: MAGA logics in a nutshell.
