Yesterday, I remembered a couple of odds and ends I had not yet put in place for today, and took care of them. Mostly, I was able to rest and do a little crocheting.
By the time you read this I will be on the road. Yes, I will drive carefully – I always do. Virgil himself says I am a better driver than he is. I’ll be back eventually to comment. Meanwhile, have a nice “Thank A Criminal” Day.

Short Takes – Just two today –
PolitiZoom – Finally! Some Good News From Kabul!
Quote – Most importantly, the administration came out and admitted that the program had been proceeding under the radar for almost a week. This changes the whole paradigm of the operation. The US military has been in almost constant contact with Taliban commanders since the start, providing them with valid forms of ID for US citizens and refugees to use, and warning of swift repercussions if if US forces come under hostile fire. I find it inconceivable that the US military on the ground had not warned the Taliban that the helicopters would be in the air, and interference in their humanitarian missions would bring swift reprisals.

The Guardian – Trump stages Alabama rally as state struggles with Covid surge
Quote – Dr William Smith, chief medical officer for Cullman Regional, told CBS42: “We view this as a potential ‘super-spreader’ event, just like last week’s Rock the South [at the same location]. We’ve seen an increase in patients since that event last weekend and we’re concerned we could see the same impact.” Trump’s presence will also put strain on Brooks’ opponents in the Republican race to fill the Senate seat being vacated by the retirement of Richard Shelby.
Click through for story, and please pray for Carrie B and her family (four generations.) This rally is north of Birmingham, and Carrie and her family are east of Montgomery, but this thing spreads.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Cartoon: Please. That would be great!
Politizoom: Yes, definitely good news, and a positive impact on the thousands of refugees evacuating.
Guardian: I would love to read the news of scheduling TOT’s rallies with NO ONE showing up! How fantastic would that be, and no one would get covid from these events. Carrie, hope that all is well with you and your family re: the spread from his rally re: the Covid. Take good care!
FFT: LOL
Hope that you have a good day with visitation, and safe drive here & to there and back. Best to you for a fantastic day with Virgil !!
This just in: “I’ve already outlined vaccine requirements that will reach millions of Americans. Today, I’m announcing a new step: If you work in a nursing home and serve Medicare or Medicaid enrollees, you willalso be required to get vaccinated.” ~ President Joe Biden ~
2. “Thanks to @KENS5 for this powerful, important story about how many Mexican-Americans in Texas were robbed of part of their culture. From 1918-1969 it was illegal to speak Spanish in Texas schools. Thelanguage was literally beaten out of children by their teachers. ~ Joaquin Castro ~
3. “@utarlington is the fourth university in the state to be considered a Texas Tier One university, a designation awarded to emerging research universities as part of the state’s effort to help them achieve national recognition as major research centers. ~ Texas Tribune ~
4. “We were warned that Radical Republican lies would lead to violence. Now, a terrorist is outside the Capitol spewing those lies and claiming to have explosives. Until Kevin McCarthy and GOP leaders denounce the Big Lie our country will remain under assault.” ~ Rep. Eric Swalwell ~
5. “Literally people won’t take the vaccine because they’re super suspicious of that, but they’re taking horse de-worming medication that they’re buying at a feed store?” ~ Rachel Maddow ~
TJI #5 – More proof Darwin needs to work faster!
TJI#1: Glad that President Biden is keeping up with making sure people are getting their vaccination, including the Booster one too.
TJI#2: All those years, what a shame. Glad it’s doesn’t play a role any longer.
TJI#3: Congrats to them.
TJI#4: Sorry to say it’s so true. Despicable that the GOPiggies still spread his lies and kiss tRump’s as*.
TJI#5: Crazy, but true words. Wonder if it’s officially approved by the FDA tomorrow, if these idiots will finally get the vaccine?
TJI #1 – Thank God for that! I may not be in anursing home yet … but I don’t want to be around anyone who’s not vaccinated.
TJI #2 – Along with native Americans. I’m sure that’s relevant to some of those bodies.
TJI #3 – Not too far north of y’all, I gather.
TJI #4 – Yup.
TJI #5 – Darwin was an observer … but karma could certainly work a little faster. Maybe she’d like some help from the furies.
Finally! Some Good News From Kabul!
We’ll take what we can.
Trump stages Alabama rally as state struggles with COVID surge
And got BOOED for suggesting vaccinations!
Yeah, it was outside (with some rain) – but they were packed together. This will become another TFG superspreader event – in a state that can ill afford it!
Food for Thought
A welcome chuckle!
Cartoon: Please do, it would be so kind of Canada to do that for us.
PolitiZoom: Great news. Glad they’re able to get more Afghans out.
Guardian: I seen it on the news earlier when he was speaking to these rally goers about saying he know they want their freedom, but as soon as he mentioned getting vaccinated they booed him. Like I said before, the option is there for them to get it and if these mass rally goers get Covid-19, I’m not going to be shedding any tears over it. I’m curious what his buddy dEsantos is thinking as tRump pushes the vaccine?
Food for Thought: Clever one.
Nice to hear that you relaxed and knitted yesterday. I’m praying that everything went as you planned the drive to and from and that your visit with Virgil went beautifully.
Take care. Thanks Joanne
Thanks all. Got back a little after 5 my time – that’s earlier than usual, but only by one hour, and with the additional pandemic restrictions it was a bit forbidding. I was surprised and pleased they let us hug at arrival and departure, and not surprised we could not kiss (masks would preclude that anyway) or even hold hands (to get the full distance they had to put two tables together and we could not have reached each other – it’s a bit of a stretch across just one table. We also could not use the vending machines, though they made sure we had water, but by about a quarter to three Virgii (who had missed breakfast) was starving, and I – I have a big head, and I mean that literally, I mean my head is large, large enough that the N95 they gave me was bending my ears, so we called it a day. I can (and plan to) visit every other Sunday until the next lockdown Oh, yes, almost forgot. I got a rapid nose swab test before being allowed in, so I don’t have CoViD. Nice to know.
Good to see you back home safely after a happy reunion after such a long time, Joanne. It would be great if you and Virgil could get back to some so-called normality with you visiting him every fortnight.
Cartoon: Canada should have kept him, but can you blame it?
PZ: A silver lining…
Guardian: TFG really doesn’t give a 💩 about other people, does he?
FFT: Nice pun.
Glad that you had a wonderful visit!, and got some major HUGS in too!
Makes your drive all that more important and special, visiting with Virgil.
Happy to hear that you had a fantastic visit with Virgil. Nice to hear that they allowed you both to have personal contact with Virgil too, something you both dearly needed.
Glad that you’re able to schedule biweekly visits with him too.
