GK: Hitler’s phrase: “The press is the enemy of the people,” as I recall it. I guess that a prosecutor would have to show, prove, criminal INTENT, which may not be too easy, and one does not want to give TOT the gift of a “not guilty” verdict.

It doesn’t require a paywall, so that’s not the problem. It doesn’t really look like a video page, but it is. You may have to unmute the sound (which doesn’t look muted – no “x” over ir – but when I opened the page just now it was muted.) But I did watch all 40 minutes of it before posting.

When I was talking with Lynn “reinstatement” came up, and I commented that Lendell nor Trump** had yet then mentioned a specific date, only a month Well, we didn’t have to wait long. I’be been throwing out comments about how much I hope the Capitol (and indeed the nation) has good security well prepared that day. BTW, you knpow t’s a Friday, right?
Inidentally, the phrase “an enemy of the people” was first popularized by Hendrik Ibsen in his play of the same name, and, though I wouldn’t doubt Hitler used it, but IIRC it’s even more associated with Stalin. With the exception of Ibsen, who used it ironically, none of them are good copany.

KO: Unfortunately, Keith makes some good points here. It’s mind-boggling that this Patriot Front was even allowed to march in Philadelphia and that the previous guy can continue to incite his followers as if nothing has happened. That doesn’t bode well for August 13th, which just happened to be a Friday. Is police enforcement now prevented from acting by a spell or something? Or are the cowardly White Supremacists hoping that law enforcement and the left is even scared of Friday the 13th than they are?
Beau: I’m not spending 40 minutes of my time on it; as an outsider, I already have enough information on what happened. But I think Beau is encouraging people to see the video to get more people to put pressure on politicians to investigate, and more importantly to indict people to prevent it from happening again.
Oh, I thinkyou (and anyone else) is entitled to comment on patriotism. Just because (assuming) you don’t have a problem with jingoism appripriating the word patriotism today doesn’t mean you won’t have one tomorrow or next week. In his book “The Four Lives” C. S. Lewis addressed the “love” of other thib=ngs than other souls, and love of country was one of them. He made very similar points to Robert’s, thoug in a different idiom and with examples contemporary to him and particular to the UK. It’s a huge problem for us … but it’s not jour problem alone.
