TGIF – although i don’t really know why I still say so, since after retirement most days are alike to me. If anything, my Fridays are busier than other days. Today, I’m going to be off line for a while. Since I haven’t driven since the pandemic started, my battery is so low that it won’t hold a jump. It’s possibe, even probable, that keeping the machine the pros use attached and charging it would bring it up to where it would at least hold a jump, and driving around a while would complete the charge. But we have been having electrical storms every day. I don’t think it’s paranoid not to want to be out playing with electricity with a storm in the offing. But today we are forecast nothing but sun all day. So I’m hoping – I have one of those boxes the pros use – to get out and charge it up. Of course I’ll be off line for a while (and the longer it is, the better news it is.) Thanks in advance for your patience.

Aeon – Exit the Fatherland

If I could, I would make this an “Everyday Erinyes” article. But I can’t – it’s classified as an “essay,” and only “idea”s are available to republish. But, depressing as it is, I urge everyone to at least skim it. Because this is what we have to look forward to even if we do confront nationalism and all who embrace and push it. If we don’t – and we certainly didn’t, for instance, after the Civil War – it is not something we are good at – what we have to look forward to is likely even worse. I wish I knew how to get this through and into Americans’ heads.

PolitiZoom – Get Ready For Waco II: Trump Loving Moonies Purchase Compound In Texas To Prepare For Apocalyptic Shoot Out
I realize this page is tough to access and I apologize – but no one else has it and it is eyebrow-raising. “Moonies” is not a metaphor – the son of Sun Myung Moon leads this – group. (because it’s hard to reach, I have made a pdf – if you can’t see it online and want the pdf, email me or say so in a comment and I’ll send it

The Hill – FBI investigating political fundraising of former employees of Postmaster General DeJoy
You may already have seen this, so it may not be news, but it’s still good.

And because there’s to be no Friday Fun, and I for one am craving something totally of the wall …

  1. Cartoon: Gawd, they’d of loved that!
Politizoom: I remember Waco. I don’t have to go too far to see where these current happenings are going  either. I am surrounded by very scary people. Not good in how this is developing. A crown of bullets? What in the Sam Hell?? GULP!
The Hill: Finally! He’s another one of TOT cronies that needs to go/be in jail.
Error 404: I can go with that, though I do enjoy reading them.

Good Luck with recharging your battery, and that you’ll get a chance to drive. Hope that all goes well for you.
    Thanks for your post, Joanne.
*This just in: TJI “Senate Democrats are ‘getting rolled daily’ on voting rights and need to get bolder.”  ~ Rick Wilson ~
    2. “Stop negotiating with a losing insurrectionist party who are trying to sabotage our democracy, pass the infrastructure package through reconciliation and abolish the filibuster.” ~ Ilhan Omar ~
    3. “If you’re currently throwing a sh*t fit because Joe Biden called out racism, guess what? You’re a racist because who the f**k would do that? ~ Jeff Tiedrich ~
    4. “What is the longest the US has gone without a president? Perhaps between 2016 and 2020 is the longest. That would be my guess.” ~ Kevin H.  ~
    5. “Of course McQonnell doesn’t see race discrimination in any of the voter suppression bills in the states. A. He evidently never read any of the bills, and B. He doesn’t see black people anyway.” ~ Larry Middleton ~

TJI #1 – I’m not sure getting bolder will help as long as the filibuster still exists. Someone somewhere used the term “suspending” the filivuster – maybe Manchin could be prsuaded into that if it’s only temporary – or he thinks it is. Sinema too.
TJI #2 – Sigh. She’s right of course. But pretty much preaching to the choir.
TJI #3 – The blatancy of the racism we are seeing today is truly jaw-dropping, isn’t it. And Jeff does have a way with words!
TJI #4 – So true – but I hope Kevin has good security, because he just made himself a target.
TJI #5 – Antiques Roadshow (since they couldn’t hold their usual events because of the pandemic) insteas visited the homes of celebrities and appraised for them. In hour #3 – which aired May 17, Soledad O’Brien showed her collection of racist cast iron banks, which she said she beough because the didn’t want them to fall into the hands of womeone disrespectful. The appraiser said many black people are doing this with racist relics, in order to preserve the history. With states like Texas trying to abolish the truth of history through state law forbidding the teaching of it, that is probably a good thing. But it has to ne a painful thing as well. Not, of course, for people like Bought Bitch Moscow Mitch. (I’m pretty sure Passport is not needed to see it if anyone wants to – here)

  2. thanks….
