I think his point is that you can make policy forever, and ho hum. But if you put into law “This is the policy … and these are the penalties for not following it” – that’s a new ball game.

Beau: It’s good that the law was written in NY, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that it’s terribly sad common sense needs to be written into law at all. It’ll only restrain some or even most police officers from acting as they did before but doesn’t change their (policing) mentality. It’ll never be common sense to them.
A love song for Liz Cheney would indeed be a bit much – but that isn’t one. I take it you didn’t make it to the “I despise you” part.
