Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Joanne, the link at the top of the page took me to a twitter thread, about the awful killing at the Captal. There was also, story about the announcement that MLB is moving the All-Star game, and the draft, out of Georgia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NT: That was great! But, calling us a civilized country seems a bit odd, just now.
DAPL Update: “Now,wouldn’t that be loverly?”
LP: “Restore faith” is the last thing the GOPIGGIES want to do. Democracy is the last thing they want…but, I am preaching to the chorus.
RA: As i said, MLB is OUT!!!!!!!!
Beau: I vote for the purpose having been nothing but intimidation?
Yes, i was in a hurry to get up the news that one injured officer had died, which this video didn’t include because it was so early. And yes, I saw the All-Star game had been pulled. The Hill does cover some things it’s not always easy to find elsewhere. (and I had the same reaction – “Us? Civilized” LOL!”)
First Married LGBTQ+ Couples Celebrate 20th Anniversary
Of course this is a wonderful celebration.
But in all honesty, I’ll be even happier when a story like this will NO LONGER be newsworthy – simply because it’s so commonplace and so commonsensical!
Two people loving each other, while grand, should not generate much of a headline.
DAPL Decision Imminent
I can’t help but feel that indigenous peoples are finally coming in to their own political prowess.
And they routinely seem to be on the right side of the issues!
GOP Voter Suppression (Michigan)
Hey, GQP – You want to retain your power? Fine … develop a some ideas that Americans will support, rather than just suppressing the vote to your bigoted, racist, hate-mongering core voters.
Divest In Georgia
Like Stacey Abrams, I’m a bit ambivalent on this subject:
As a resident of Georgia I am embarrassed by our asshat governor – but I am proud of the voters who got their butts to the polls, and those who encouraged others to vote and helped out. Folks, let’s pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act so pr*cks like Con-Kemp-Able can’t get away with voter suppression s**t!
The miscreant who ran into the two officers and killed one of them was shot and killed too, so it’ll take a long time before his motivation becomes clear, if ever.
NTN: From 1 January 1998 everyone older than 21, I believe, could enter a social partnership, independent of their own or their partner’s sex, which had the same legal implications as marriage, except for filiation. For LGBTQ couples, it never had the same ‘feel’ of recognition so the legal battle for equal rights was continued until 2001. In those good old days, The Netherlands was way ahead on gay marriage, euthanasia, decriminalisation of Marijuana, abortion and so on. Not so much now, I’m afraid.
LPLP: I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the right decision of permanently closing down the oil flow AND making the owners clean up the mess after them and not leave the indigenous people stuck with rusting pipelines leaking oil left in them. If they don’t, the environmental disaster the Lacota and others have been trying to avoid will become reality after all.
LP: Clear message directed at the right people, i.e. companies.
RA: I can understand the people of Georgia aren’t too happy about it, but boycotts are often the only thing that works. The only way to change a GOP mind is by kicking it in its purse.
Beau: I’m afraid that those people who find arguments against putting up a statue for Greta understand the difference between a statue of her and one of the Southern generals perfectly well. It’s not about being dead or alive or about historical value, it is about representing the right political and moral mindset, i.e theirs, opposed to representing a darned lefty who thinks saving the planet is more important than making money.
Thanks JD. I’m a bit too queasy to give these the attention they deserve, but I’ll try to comment briefly.
That Republican traitors have run down two officers at the Capitol, murdering one makes me want to scream!
On the other hand, it is joyful news that the first LGBTQ couple to marry has survived to celebrate a 20th anniversary without Republicans murdering them.
I’m afraid I’m out of gas.
thank you.
