Tomorrow I have an early morning meeting that will last for quite a while, so there may be no articles tomorrow. I hope I will return in time to at least catch up with comments. Beyond that, we’ll see how the day goes. I’m up to date on comments now.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today it took me 3:14 (4:31 average). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Short Takes:
From Bloomberg: Demonstrators occupying the Wisconsin capitol in support of state workers for almost two weeks defied a deadline to leave and authorities backed down, rather than make arrests.
Hurrah!
From Think Progress: In an interview with In These Times, Carl Gibson, the founder of US Uncut, which is organizing some of today’s UK-inspired massive demonstrations against tax dodgers, explains that while ordinary Americans are being asked to sacrifice, major corporations continue to use the rigged tax code to avoid paying any federal taxes at all. As he says, if you have “one dollar” in your wallet, you’re paying more than the “combined income tax liability of GE, ExxonMobil, Citibank, and the Bank of America“.
I’m listening to Joe Scarborough saying that taxing the rich won’t solve the problem. Maybe so, but before poor and middle class people are asked to make even more sacrifices, the corporate bastards responsible for this mess are paying through the nose!
From McClatchy DC: Anchorage citizen activist Andree McLeod has obtained a six-month protective order against a woman who threatened her life over her public records requests for former Gov. Sarah Palin’s official e-mails.
The woman, Clare Goodchild, also of Anchorage, admitted making the threats and apologized in court to McLeod. Goodchild said she "meant no harm" when she said she had the cross hairs of her gun scope on McLeod’s head and that McLeod had "used up too much oxygen."
Meant no harm?!!? How do you spell B-U-L-L-S-H-I-T? And where would a disciple of the blood libel bitch get such an idea?

OT – There’s a Diary up at Daily Kos this morning by a fellow Portlander that’s a pictorial tour of your fair city. I know you live there, but I always get a kick out of seeing pictures of KCMO online – and who knows, you may actually see something new:

Nameless, the whole opint of an open thread is that there is no such thing as off topic in one. It’s a daily place where anyone can talk about anything.
Thanks for the link. I recognized the locations of almost every photo. He did a great job of capturing the city’s character.
3:47 You were too good today, TomCat. I’, 19 out of 59 (322).
Today is a tossup, Jerry. I’m within reach, but not easily.
