It’s another tired, busy day here in the CatBox. I overworked myself yesterday, something I tend to do when dealing with unpleasant tasks to get them over with. Store to Door will deliver groceries within the next three hours, and I gave to unpack and put them away. WWWendy is coming this evening to to destink the heat wave (95° forecast) fouled TomCat, change my pain patch, goop, and do chores. I did get a nap this morning. Diana and I decided tomorrow would be better for my follow up visit, as that will make her visit, after my shower. I guess I must be pretty rancid! JD, would you please cover Samantha Bee? I have another article to do. Have a great day, everyone.

Trump* Virus Update:
US Cases: 6,291,776
US Deaths: 190,014
Plus thousands of GOP plague murder victims Republicans are hiding from us
Short Takes:
From Alternet: Republican Rep. Clay Higgins of Louisiana has a long and colorful track record of being a right-wing prick who has a strange preoccupation with World War II, though which side he’s most obsessed with remains debatable. But one thing is clear: He likes to dress with flair and really sell his Military Police Corps career, complete with tough talk about hitting heavy bags and “riding Harleys to honor our American flag.” It’s almost like he’s overcompensating for something. (Just saying.) Anyhoo, Higgins is also a big Second Amendment rights and states’ rights guy. Of course, that doesn’t apply to those who aren’t white right-wing, Second Amendment types.
According to The Advocate and Mother Jones, on Tuesday Rep. Higgins posted a picture of armed Black demonstrators on Facebook, captioning it: “I’d drop any 10 of you where you stand.” Higgins seems to be working on the assumption that these demonstrators are out-of-towners with secret agendas—the oldest and most classic fascistic ruse in abusive states dealing with civil unrest. Higgins made sure everyone knew that he wasn’t being racist while he was clearly being racist, since trying to find similar images of white guys in tactical gear and assault weapons “demonstrating” would also include too many MAGA hats. “Nothing personal. We just eliminate the threat. We don’t care what color you are. We don’t care if you’re left or right. if you show up like this, if We recognize threat…you won’t walk away,” he spewed.
Hmmm… The author may be on to something. Is two inches an overestimation of the average size of Republican Ammosexuals? RESIST!!
From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): Trump Encourages His Supporters To Try To Commit Voter Fraud By Voting For Him Twice
Republicans are trying to deflect this by saying that he meant his supporters should vote in person only if their mail-in vote didn’t count. They’re NOT lying, the Pope is NOT Catholic, and bears do NOT shit in the woods! RESIST!!
From YouTube (a blast of protest): Sheryl Crow – In The End (Live)
I saw her on Morning Joe. That’s great protest music and brand new too! Protest like the 60s! RESIST!!
Vote Blue No Matter Who Top to Bottom!!

Cartoon: John Brallier became the first football player to openly turn pro, accepting $10 and expenses to play for the Latrobe YMCA against the Jeannette Athletic Club. WOW! Hard to believe. *profootballhof.com
TVU: Not much change in this county. Still dangerous though. 1608 confirmed. 162 active. 1407 recoveries. 27 deaths.
AN: Sick man. What a racist coward. ugh! He needs to go.
Rachel: IANAD….but Gawd, he’s lost all his marbles. BTW…Rachel, EVERYDAY is a weird day with this guy. ugh!!
BOP: Good song. Excellent!

TJI #5 – That just says it all, doesn’t it. (could have used a hanky alert.)
TJI#6- Isn’t that just a shame?
“something I tend to do when dealing with unpleasant tasks to get them over with.” Boy, am I with you there. Of course if one’s low energy to begin with (and am), one kind of has to do that – or it just won’t get done.
Yes, I’ll take Sam. So many people watch her “later” I won’t feel bad if I post her “later.”
Cartoon – Interesting.
Map – Glad to see Colorado dark blue, but we had too many cases to begin with two weks ago.
Higgins – I knew about this. I read three sentences in and said to myself, “someone at Daily Kos wrote this” – and I was right. (It was Walter Einenkel. He is staff, so he’s fact checked in advance – not that there aren’t others who I can be confident are accurate, of course.) Yes, this Higgins dude is beyond belief – or would be, if I didn’t remember the riots in the sixties screaming at beautiful black children. Something is going on, though. I’m not on Facebook, but when someone posts a presumably public link, I can generally get in to see whatever it is. That isn’t true of the link Einenkel posted of a follow-up to this. I’d have to log in. Maybe the whole account went private (or, better, completely down.)
Rachel – I have been a poll worker in Colorado, through changes in the system. I have worked elections when, if you applied for an absentee ballot and then showed up at the polls, you could not vote at the polls, no exceptions (the Election Department could make exceptions because they had time to examine the evidence, but I believe seldom did.) I have worked the polls where if yu had applied for an absentee ballot, or had showed up at the wrong polling place, or were not on the rostr for any reason, you culd vote a provisional ballot, which was not immediately counted, but returned to the Election Department in a separate envelope, where it was checked to determine its validity, and counted, or partially counted (if the voter was in the wrong precinct, some votes might be on things that voter was not entitled to vote on), or not counted. I worked polls after Colorado instituted the possibility of becoming a Permanent Mail-In Voter, which was put in before we went to all-mail, and allowed the state to iron some things out before going to all-mail. I would guess that North Carolina is most like the first situation I worked with. But even if they have a provisional ballot system, people will not be able to vote twice. However, the system will be unnecessarily strained by the extra work required.
BOP – So new that I have no prayer of grasping it without lyrics. But yes, Sheryl Crow is doing good work.
‘Toon: Is that an official holiday in Texas?
TVU: On the way to 61/2 million!!!!! But, Trump says, that’s not due to Covid, only to the underlying conditions.*
AN: Two inches? You are being too kind!
MSNBC: Yet another felony! But, he need them to vote twice in order to offset the votes by that slew of aliens n the flying saucers.
BOP: A good song!
Cartoon: Been around that long? Cool.
TVU: We’ll be over 40,000 cases by tomorrow. 700 deaths.
AN: Racist creep. Hope someone drops him.
MSNBC: What a flipping idiot. Suggesting people to do fraudulent acts. Why can tRump continue to do throw out these illegal suggestions and not get penalized for it??
BOP: Great song.
Enjoy your visit with Wendy tonight. Tell her “Hi”. That goes for your visit with Diana tomorrow too.
We’re in for another 4 days of high heat, close to 100. Not suppose to be humid like last heat wave we had.
Hope you can stay cool/comfortable there.
Take care. Thanks TomCat
Understandably, you want to get the unpleasant tasks behind you as fast as you can but please pace yourself and rest in-between, savouring having completed a task too, TomCat.
3:19 Saved you from gooping by one second.
Update: Vox tends to have the best perspective which sadly isn’t the most optimistic one. In Oz, there appears to be a “backlog” of deaths reported by (privatized) aged care facilities. I wonder if that happens in the US too.
Alternet: The language cowards on Facebook use to show how tough they are, says enough about them. As always, talk is very cheap with Republicans and vented a lot on Facebook or Twitter in the hope someone will be inspired and do the dirty job for them.
MSNBC:
BOF: Excellent impression of a Zoom collaboration so very recent indeed.
Thanks and TGIF Hugs to all!
If you travel this holiday weekend, please take extra care to stay safe!
WWWendy returns greetings!
