When criminal Fuhrer Trump* looks ahead to November, his prospects could not look more bleak.  His Republican plague is sweeping the nation and even traditional Republicans are not buying his lies that it’s Obama’s, the Democrat’s, China’s, anyone but his fault.  The economy, his so-called “pride and joy”, is worse than it was in the great depression.  The polls are so bad that even Putin [R-RU] can’t steal this one for him.  But he and the Republican Party still seek to establish a permanent, totalitarian, plutocratic 5th Reich, in which elections exist for show only.

When Joe Biden mentioned the possibility that Donald Trump would try to “kick back the election somehow” back in April, Washington Post pundit Henry Olsen was aghast. He called Biden’s statement an “unfounded accusation” and said this was “not only clearly over the line but also unmasks how low the supposedly moderate Biden will go to win.”

Olsen better be prepping that apology, because on Thursday morning Trump extended his rant about mail-in voting to the place where it was obviously going all along. After repeating his previous lies about mail-in voting being “inaccurate and fraudulent,” Trump delivered the punch line. Rather than allow mail-in voting, why not, Trump suggested: “Delay the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote.” That safety would, presumably, be entirely up to Trump. Meaning that Election Day would be the second Tuesday after never.

As The Washington Post points out, Trump cannot actually change the date of the federal elections. Though Trump may believe that Article II provides godlike powers, picking the date for federal elections is actually the role of Congress. And that date is already set. Congress doesn’t have to vote to have the election on Nov. 3; it would have to vote to change it to any other date.

Still, this isn’t as comforting as it should be. Now that Trump has made an official salvo down the delay path, it’s certain not to be the last. And it’s easy to believe that Sen. Mitch McConnell and the other Senate Republicans who voted to give Trump a free pass on bribing foreign countries into lying about his opponent would happily go along with this scheme. After all, for McConnell, every day the election is delayed is another day in which a Supreme Court opening might occur.

Naturally, the Democratically-led House wouldn’t go along with this, but that’s still no guarantee. Trump doesn’t have to actually delay the election so much as delegitimize it. That’s the purpose of all his rants against mail-in voting in the first place: To raise doubts about the outcome of the election and position Trump to deny the results, no matter how clear. It’s quite easy to imagine Donald Trump pounding the podium in November, claiming that only those votes cast in a voting booth on that date really count. Or even that the whole date is “not legitimate.” Because he says so. And it’s extremely easy to imagine Ted Cruz, and Lindsey Graham, and McConnell backing that play…  [emphasis added]

Trump Tweet Suggests Delaying Election Over Mail-In Voting Fraud Claims

This is the strongest indication yet that, unable to stay in power any other way, Trump* and the Republican Reich plan a coup, and that the Republican Nazi storm troopers terrorizing the people of Portland are practicing for that coup.

  1. VERY scary news, indeed.
He’ll say and try anything to keep in power, unfortunately.
He’s the worst nightmare ever…. imho.

  2. No words, really.  I am too old to have to worry about this – but of course, I will.  If I can think of anything I can do – short of violence – I will do it, but just at this moment I can’t.

  3. I just commented again on the poll from 01/07/20 as follows:

“This morning (30/07/20), Trump “floated” the idea of delaying the November election which he has no authority to do according to Article II, Section 1 of the US Constitution, such authority belonging to the Congress. If he actually tries this, I would hope that even his supporters (I won’t hold my breath!) would see this as a desperate attempt to subvert the rule of law (the Constitution) and the will of the people. This is clearly a move for his own interests since other credible options for the election have been floated but met with resistance by Trump and some Republicans. In my non legal opinion, if Trump carried out his “suggestion”, the word treason comes to mind. After all, does not his oath of office include the words “all enemies, foreign and domestic” (or words to that effect)! Trump needs to go and the sooner, the better!”

    Trump’s tweet:

“… With Universal Mail-In Voting … 2020 will be the most INACCURATE & FRAUDULENT Election in history.  It will be a great embarrassment to the USA.  …”

A greater embarrassment to the USA than having a pResident like Trump, a narcissistic, corrupt, incompetent (and more) idiot in the WH?  Does not exist!  The appellation “leader of the free world” needs to be retired!

I think this could be just another tactic to distract from his performance with the economy (new GDP numbers out — not good), his inept and lack of leadership with COVID (152,000 plus deaths) and the recent and continuing demonstrations against racism and inequality.

If Trump, the pugilist, wants a war, I think he may instigate a second American civil war if he and Republicans try to carry forth with delaying the election.

  4. I wonder if he didn’t just float this trial balloon to distract from an ALL-TIME RECORD ECONOMIC DECLINE IN GDP.

  5. I heard about this right after I turned the channel after watching the funeral of John Lewis.
tRump must be really getting worried that he’s going to lose the election.
Hate to tell him that because of him ignoring the Covid-19 situation from the very beginning and now pushing that the schools to open, that he’s going to have way less supporters.
I hate to tell him, that the end of his political game is finally coming to an end. Hopefully very soon.

  6. Trump is spinning harder than ever before but with no brain matter in his cranial cavity, he doesn’t get dizzy or nauseated like anyone else. On the one hand, he declares that it is safe enough now to open up for states to restart the economy and for children to return to school but on the other hand, the election can’t go ahead until it is safe. Which apparently it won’t be in November, not even with the safest method of all in place: postal voting.

With a COVID Recession drop in GDP of nearly 10% even Trump knows that there won’t be a strong economy to motivate his voters with, so now he wants to delay the election, with which all Republican Senators will happily agree with. That shouldn’t come as a surprise, it has been suggested here on PP even long before Biden did. Nor should the coup which you predict, TomCat. The question then is if COVID-19 will prevent a civil war from happening.

    • Exactly!

How can it be perfectly safe for schools, bars, businesses, factories & gyms to reopen in August to get that hoped-for-but-ain’t-gonna-happen economic “V-Curve” recovery – but way to dangerous for people to vote in November?

  7. This one is way too far from his usual supporters:A key player for his court nominees (member of The Federalist Society)https://www.huffpost.com/entry/steven-calabresi-impeach-trump-election-tweets_n_5f23416cc5b656e9b0994b03and GOP congressional leadership:https://www.huffpost.com/entry/republicans-reject-trump-delay-election_n_5f235542c5b6a34284b88bf6

  8. Thanks and Hugs to all. 17

Since criminal Fuhrer Trump* consulted with his staff before tweeting this, he learned from them that postponing the election was not possible.  I consider the most likely reason he did this is to delegitimize the election for an excuse to unleash his Nazi Storm Troopers, to keep him in power when he loses.
