It’s a crappy, busy day here at the CatBox. My Republicosis is back. I had to prepare my grocery list for this week, send it to Store to Door, prepare the graphics for our Fantasy Football Report, do my normal research for PP and make four five draining trips to the throne. Now I get to do the actual writing. Poopy hugs to all. ARGH!
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today’s took me 3:56 (average 5:29). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Cartoon:
Fantasy Football Report:
Here is the latest from our own Fantasy Football league.
Scores:
Congrats to WWWendy, Patty Monster and me for winning our games. More congrats to me for the highest score of both the week and the season.
Standings:
Congrats to Vivian and WWWendy for leading the league.
Short Takes:
From The New Yorker: After looking at the most recent polls for the Democratic Presidential race, Donald J. Trump has ordered the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, to investigate Senator Elizabeth Warren.
“What Elizabeth Warren and her crooked kids have been doing in Ukraine is a disgrace,” Trump told reporters on the White House lawn. “This is maybe the biggest scandal in the history of our country.”
After Jim Acosta, of CNN, pointed out that there had been no reports of any involvement in Ukraine on the part of either Warren or her children, Trump responded, “You bet there’s been no reporting, because you people are even more crooked than she is.”
Trump brushed aside an official statement by the Ukrainian government indicating that Warren’s children had never set foot in the country. “That is because the Warren kids are basically spies, and everyone knows that spies are invisible,” he said. “You people are so dumb.”
Good one, Andy. I’m confident that statement is on his bucket list. RESIST!!
From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): Cambridge Analytica Whistleblower On Dangers To Democracy
I just learned that Cambridge Analytica was founded to fight radicalization. They flipped to promoting radicalization, when Mercer bought the company and put Bannon and the Republican Reich in charge. Now that they are gone, many of the fascists on their staff are working for Mark Fuckerberg at Facebook, With Facebook, the only way to win is not to play. Flush Facebook! RESIST!!
From Alternet: …“For a long time, however, making that case — pointing out that Republicans were sounding ever more authoritarian and violating more and more democratic norms — got you dismissed as shrill, if not deranged,” Krugman explains. But extremism, Krugman adds, was a feature of the Republican Party long before Trump ran for president.
“It’s important to understand that the GOP hasn’t suddenly changed, that Trump hasn’t somehow managed to corrupt a party that was basically OK until he came along,” Krugman emphasizes. “Anyone startled by Republican embrace of wild conspiracy theories about the deep state must have slept through the Clinton years and wasn’t paying attention when most of the GOP decided that climate change was a hoax perpetrated by a vast global scientific cabal.”
Krugman concludes his column on a somber note, stressing that Trumpism isn’t merely an indictment of Donald Trump, but of the Republican Party in general.
“Trump isn’t an aberration,” Krugman asserts. “He’s unusually blatant and gaudily corrupt, but at a basic level, he’s the culmination of where his party has been going for decades. And U.S. political life won’t begin to recover until centrists face up to that uncomfortable reality.” [emphasis added]
I’m so pleased that Paul Krugman agrees me. How many times have you seen me state that Trump is the Fuhrer of the Republican Party, because he’s a perfect reflection of who and what they are? RESIST!!
Vote Blue!!

Cartoon: Yea, ain’t that the truth?
FFR: Congrats !! to all.
NYer: Written like a true reporter…lol, Andy!
MSNBC: Good to know, passing info along…
AN: Good article. I agree wholeheartedly with your statement, Tom. So true!!
Oh, I do hope that your Republicosis goes away, stay hydrated too. Enjoy the rest of your day/evening, take good care, and Thanks, Tom.
This just in: “The POTUS is in danger of losing the mandate of Heaven, if he permits this to happen.” (bowing/caving to the Turkish dictator.” ~ Pat Robertson ~
2. Question: “If Rudy G is dt’s private lawyer, why is the US paying for his travel and expenses? ~Maggie T.~
3. “Notice how DT’s friend, Lindsey G., was quick to criticize re: the Kurds? We and media rush to follow the fight, diversion successful, attention is off the Ukraine extortion, dt & Graham quietly resume their friendship, no troops removed.” ~ Bill K. ~
4. re: dt: “I, in my great and unparalleled wisdom…wth? Good Grief!” ~pb~
TJI – People are speculating why Robertson, so lacking in empathy, all of a sudden has some for the Kurds. IMO, he doesn’t. He (or someone whose judgment he trusts) has secretly become convinced that Trump is going down. He is paving the way for that not to be a defeat for his God, but instead, his God deserting the Reich.
5:57 I don’t always “get” common names for plants, but I do “get” the candelabra allusion here.
Cartoon – Good. I hope with claws that came straight from the litterbox.
TNY – The “scandal” they are actually cooking up has to do with that time she lost her substitute teaching job because she was visibly pregnant. See this for details of how DUMB that is.
MSNBC Someone (almost certainly not Facebook itself) is trying to make (steal) money selling “courses” on hoe to rip off Facebook users. As if there weren’t enough people doing that already. Not posting the link because why give them clicks. But it’s getting to be the non-headed Hydra. (I suspect that, like the myth, there may be one head that, if cut off, destroys the whole thing … and that it has to do with a thug in a hoodie.)
AlterNet – Thank heaven for Paul! I know his assessment of the Republican Party is accurate (seeing as it’s what TC has been saying for, oh, decades) and I hop his assessment of Democrats is equally accurate. The future of our nation and of the world depends upon enough people seeing the truth clearly. Incidentally, Robert Reich is addressing the same misconception a little differently.
Joanne:
RR: Good lesson & good to know, passing this on, too.
Thanks!
It’s a good thing I noticed that you used the RR vid, or we would have doubled up. The Reich on the left is right!
It was so in line with what Krugman was saying (which of course is what you have always said too) that I thought the two belonged together. And I do consider whether I get something in quickly enough that it will be broadly seen (I think I did.) But I would not be hurt if you repeat it either.
Great job!
Cartoon: Good…hope they get him good.
FFR: Congratulations on the wins.
NYT: Disgusting that he has to play these dirty games. He will never learn will he???
MSNBC: Awful. Glad I never got involved with Facebook.
AN: Like Paul’s excellent explanation. Agree with you too TomCat.
Sounds to me that you had a very hectic day, TC. Hope you finally got some time to rest.
Take care. Thanks TomCat
Sorry about the return of the Republicosis. Must be a horrible sequel.
3:35 Beauty against a dark side/background.
Cartoon: I’d like to think those pussies are of the huge, striped, very hungry and ferocious kind.
TNY: I think we can wait for it. The longer he has impeachment hanging over him, the more Trump’s ‘brilliant mind’ will have him put more orders to investigate out there.
MSNBC: Won’t see that book advertised on Facebook any time soon, I suppose. Not that I would notice; I’m not on it.
Alternet: Too true.
I just hope those tigers you allude to won’t get food poisoning.
LOL to you both!
Thanks and Hump Day Hugs to all! 🐪
