Here is the one hundred sixty-seventh article in our Republicans on Parade series, featuring individuals who personify what the Republican Party has become. Today’s winner is Trump sycophant and Republican Senator Ron Johnson. He is so honored for one of the biggest episodes of simultaneous goose-stepping or side-stepping I have ever seen!

1007JohnsonSen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.) gave a wild performance on “Meet the Press” Sunday, refusing to answer questions posed by host Chuck Todd, instead peddling unfounded conspiracy theories about the 2016 election. The bizarre interview is a demonstration of how President Donald Trump’s allies have responded to the impeachment inquiry by rallying around debunked theories about Democratic plots and deep state set-ups during the 2016 election, while dismissing the findings of Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference.

Johnson’s refusal to answer questions, paired with Todd’s dismay that Johnson was embracing conspiracy theories, may also explain why other Trump allies refused to go on the Sunday news shows. In the midst of a tumultuous impeachment inquiry, no administration official or GOP leader from the House or Senate accepted an invitation to appear on any of the weekends news programs.

The interview went south at the very beginning. Rather than answer Todd’s first question about Ukraine, Johnson began his appearance with a jumble of old, debunked theories in which Johnson, reading from a paper on which he had prepared his comments, seemed to claim that former FBI agent Peter Strzok and former FBI director James Comey had framed Trump. “Senator, I have no idea why Fox News propaganda stuff is popping up on here,” Todd said in response… [emphasis added]

When Chuck Todd can’t get a word in, he must be up against a PhD (Piled Higher and Deeper) in Republican Bullshitology.  Can there be any doubt that this Republican deserves a parade?

  1. Gawd, Chuck had a heck of a time with Johnson, didn’t he? Kudos to him though, with his comments back to him.
Do these senators go to school to learn how to bend their knee, to show fealty to dt?
    Sickening, imho.

  2. Someone somewhere said “When you’ve lost professonal both-sider Chuck Todd, you’ve lost the country.”  God, I hope so.

  3. Despicable.
How these idiots that are appointed into office to support the people can get away with this type of nonsense I will never understand.
To know that their leader is doing all of his illegal acts and still stand behind him, they should be prosecuted.

  4. Johnson sure wanted trump to know he was still a loyal little sycophant.

  5. This interview is one for the ages!  Not only did Chuck Todd actually grow a pair and commit journalism, but Ron Johnson was blubbering and blathering worse than Trump:

TODD: Let me start with something you told the Wall Street Journal late last week. You had said when Mr. Sondland — Gordon Sondland seemed to imply that — the frozen military aid was connected to a promise by Zelensky for investigations, you said, “At that suggestion, I winced. My reaction was, ‘Oh God. I don’t want to see those two things combined.’” Why did you wince and what did you mean by “those two things combined?”

JOHNSON: Well, first of all, your setup piece was — you know, typically, very unbiased. But, you know, let me first, before I started answering all the detailed questions, let me just talk about why I’m pretty sympathetic with what President Trump has gone through. You know, I’m 64 years old. I have never in my lifetime seen a president, after being elected, not having some measure of well-wishes from his opponents. I’ve never seen a president’s administration be sabotaged from the day after election. I’ve never seen — no measure of honeymoon whatsoever. And so what President Trump’s had to endure, a false accusation — by the way, you’ve got John Brennan on — you ought to ask Director Brennan what did Peter Strzok mean when he texted Lisa Page on December 15th, 2016?

Truly the whole interview w/ Johnson is worth a read, if only for good laugh!

  6. I’m here to get to the truth I’m not here defending the president, I’m not here to denounce him either.

Others would choke on it, but not Johnson. He certainly earned his place in the Parade, TomCat.

  7. Johnson wants the truth?  He has no idea what truth is.  He wants the “truth” that exonerates Trump.  He needs to wear a pair of hip waders when he is spouting off.

The entire administration and the Republican party need a parade!

  8. Thanks and stinky hugs to all! 💩

  9. Keep well in your cat box Tom Cat.05
