It’s a tired day here in the CatBox.  I woke up shortly after midnight, as usual, to relieve myself, but could not get back to sleep.  Tomorrow is a holy day in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb.  My Broncos are Californicating themselves to meditate with the Chargers.  The game won’t be televised here.  May the divine Orb shine its blessed light on your team, unless they fart lightning bolts.  Tomorrow is also a WWWendy Day.  That yucky TomCat will need extra de-stinking!  So please expect no more than a Personal Update from me tomorrow.  Pooped hugs to all.

Short Takes:

From The New Yorker: In an unexpected twist in the impeachment drama engulfing Washington, leading congressional Democrats have begged Donald Trump to stop impeaching himself so that they have something to do.

In a press conference on Friday morning, Representative Adam Schiff, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, and Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House, both implored Trump to stop relentlessly spewing impeachable offenses, complaining that this practice was rendering their jobs irrelevant.

“Mr. President, as much as we appreciate your help, please, stop doing our work for us,” Pelosi said. “Give us a reason to get up in the morning and go to the office.”

Andy, I fear their plea has fallen on deaf ears. Committing impeachable offenses is the prime Republican pastime. RESIST!!

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): FEC Chair Sets The Record Straight On Foreign Interference In An Election

There certainly was obvious quid pro quo there, and that is relevant. The operative word in the law is “solicit”. In laymen’s terms, that means ask for it. Trump did. Pence did. Quod erat demonstrandum! RESIST!!

From YouTube (CNN Channel): Voter confronts GOP senator: Where’s the line?

Joni Ernst just doesn’t know how to deal with Trump. That pig’s nuts are so small, that she can’t find them. RESIST!!

Vote Blue!!

  1. 6:40 Some jasmines are highly toxic – I don’t know about this one.

Cartoon – Because of course they are.

    TNY – More straight news.

MSNBC – It’s true most people have NO idea what “solicit” means. Lawrence and Ellen are of course 100% accurate that quid pro quo in the context of violation of election law is irrelevant. It is however, relevant to the offense of bribery, and that offense is explicitly stated in the Constitution as an impeachable offense It may be easier to prove bribery (I was going to say attempted bribery, but apparently the Ukraine has capitulated, sadly) than to convince the nation that violation of election law is a high crime/misdemeanor. I think both offenses should be used, but it might be helpful to Americans who have difficulty with the meanings of words (d’oh) to make a clearer distinction between them.

CNN – I read about this, including that the voter was applauded. Too bad that was cut.

  2. Cartoon: For some reason, I found this funny. Slogging in the mud. lol
NYer: I kinda feel bad for the Dems. He’s breaking the law every single day while in office, while the spineless R’s are thinking he’s doing a good job. (??)
MSNBC: She acts/speaks like a teacher. lol She makes this subject very simple. What part of the word NO, does he not understand? dt does what he wants, so where’s the limit on his malfeasance?
CNN: Awesome statement from the lady in the audience, asking her questions, and why she doesn’t stand up for condemnation to dt, for what he’s doing. Ernst is just as scared as the rest of them. (R’s).
Best to your Broncos, for a win. We play tomorrow. I’m thinking that I caught something pesky, as I’m not feeling myself today. ugh! So no mowing for me today, going to take a nap.  Hope that you have a good rest of your day, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

“It’s a holy day in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb. My Broncos are Californicating themselves to meditate with the Chargers.”

TOMORROW is your “holy day in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb”.

    IT’S SATURDAY!

    Go back to bed!

  4. Cartoon: Wish they’d sink deep in it.
TNY: How these repugs can continue to back this idiot, I’ll never understand.
MSNBC: Have to agree with Pat on this one.
Hope you had a good Saturday. Too bad your Broncos won’t be televised.
    Take care. Thanks TomCat

  5. First, it’s vital to remember that impeachment does NOT require a violation of a U.S. Code of Criminal Law statute.

    https://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution-conan/article-2/section-4/impeachment

“An impeachable high crime or misdemeanor is one in its nature or consequences subversive of some fundamental or essential principle of government or highly prejudicial to the public interest, and this may consist of a violation of the Constitution, of law, of an official oath, or of duty, by an act committed or omitted, or, without violating a positive law, by the abuse of discretionary powers from improper motives or for an improper purpose.”

    https://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution-conan/article-2/section-4/impeachment

But even if it did, Trump has MET that requirement:

U.S. Code §30121. Contributions and donations by foreign nationals

    (a) Prohibition It shall be unlawful for-

    (1) a foreign national, directly or indirectly, to make-

    (A) a contribution or donation of money or other thing of value, or to make an express or implied promise to make a contribution or donation, in connection with a Federal, State, or local election;

    (B) a contribution or donation to a committee of a political party; or

    (C) an expenditure, independent expenditure, or disbursement for an electioneering communication (within the meaning of section 30104(f)(3) of this title); or

    (2) a person to solicit, accept, or receive a contribution or donation described in subparagraph (A) or (B) of paragraph (1) from a foreign national.

  6. 4:01 Delicate, aren’t they?

Cartoon: It looks like the driver is praying, not trusting his friends to get them out of trouble.

TNY: Andy, and Democrats, you do know the poor man can’t help himself, don’t you?

MSNBC: Democrats have the solliciting, the first one asking Russia for help during his campaign, the known last one asking China to do the same, with multiple others, including Australia which nobody mentions anymore.
Then you have the obvious quid pro quo with Ukraine, and a possible one in which the Aussie oposition is very interested in. How many ways can Trump be impeached? I bet there would be few more if the commissions continue following up on the tax returns and follow the money(loans). Take your pick, but please take the one that has the least backlash.

CNN: There are few Republicans who dare to speak out against Trump, but sporadically alas. However, I don’t agree with Joe Walsh; there aren’t many of them out there. Republicans are what they are: cowardly mony-grabbing egocentrists who are just in it for themselves and the money and status it gives them. They will keep Trump in office after te Democratic House impeaches him, so there’s only one thing for it: vote them out of office themselves.

  7. Thanks and busy Ellipsoid Orb Hugs to all. 26  🏈
