It’s a very busy day here in the CatBox.  It’s the last day of the heat wave with 92° and 83% humidity.  As soon as I finished my morning research I opened my email and found a note from Nameless requesting sole squatting privileges on the topic he plans for Friday Fun.  So I deferred and discarded today’s first Short Take, but I did save my comment to use on hid article.  I found an excellent piece to plug in as today’s third Short Take, and you can thank Nameless that I found it.  Nevertheless, I’m running late.  In addition, today is grocery delivery day, and I get to stow the order.  Also today is a High Holy Day in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb.  It’s the Day of Blessed Return.  After long months of darkness, the blessed Orb rises once again to shine it’s divine light upon the earth.  The Packers travel to Soldier Field to meditate with the Bears.  The Vegas line favors the Bears by three, if they aren’t too busy doing what Bears do in the woods.  May the Holy Ellipsoid Orb shine its blessed light on you all.  I shall be meditating this evening.

Short Takes:

From YouTube (CNN Channel): Elizabeth Warren: Where Trump is right now is a nightmare

“Life on earth is at risk!” Amen to that and everything else Liz said. RESIST!!

From The New Yorker: Americans were shocked on Tuesday by the spectacle of a legislative body appearing to take action.

Across the U.S., television viewers watched with mouths agape at startling images of legislators seemingly intent on performing their constitutional duties.

Adding to Americans’ sense of astonishment, the legislators showed evidence of putting their country before party in an effort to rein in the actions of a reckless leader who had not garnered the majority of his nation’s votes.

Andy, do you think poor Boris might have succeeded , if he had Barrf in his corner? RESIST!!

From Exposed by CMD: Convention of States Action (COS) kicked off its first “Leadership Summit” [Republican fascists delinked] in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia today. COS, a project of Mark Meckler and Eric O’Keefe’s Citizens for Self-Governance, claims that “hundreds” of activists, state directors, and coordinators from all 50 states will attend to get inspired and learn strategies for passing COS resolutions in the states calling for a constitutional convention to rewrite the U.S. Constitution.

Fifteen states have passed the group’s applications so far, with 17 more states considering the resolution this year, according to COS. Wisconsin recently introduced a COS resolution, which would bump the number up to 18.

A constitutional convention has never been held since the Constitution was adopted, and COS will need 34 states to file applications in order for it to occur. If that happens, COS plans to move an array of sweeping amendments to redefine key parts of the Constitution and radically weaken the federal government.

COS has ties to the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), the National Rifle Association, the right-wing militia group Three Percenters, and the Christian nationalist group WallBuilders.

More than 200 civil rights and public interest groups, including the Center for Media and Democracy (CMD), signed a letter last year denouncing such constitutional convention calls as “a threat to every American’s constitutional rights and civil liberties.”

Click through for a speakers list and more. There is nothing the Republican Reich want’s more than to rewrite the Constitution and make the racist Republican Reich a permanent Nazi dictatorship. RESIST!!

  1. 4:23 Another barely-a-mouthful.

Cartoon – I’ll bet they didn’t call it murder (or assassination either), but it was.

Since Randy Rainbow has been nominated for an Emmy, CNN did an interview with him. Mostly interview, lots of clips.

Liz – Just saw an article that Republicans who thought she would be easy to discredit are finding to their dismay that “nothing sticks.” I suspect I have a good idea of why, but I’m too busy chuckling right now to go into detail.

TNY – “Poor Boris”? Sorry, he deserves NO pity, only ridicule.

CMD – Thanks for tackling this so that I don’t have to (not that I was going to, but it certainly needed to be done.) Puke.

Off topic, but I just wanted to share a for-profit enterprise having and using this degree of snark:

    RESIST AND PERSIST !!!

  2. Cartoon: Sad, even to this day. He was fatally bayoneted by a U.S. soldier after resisting confinement in a guardhouse at Fort Robinson, Nebraska. *history
CNN: She knows what she’s talking about with our concerns that we’re all worried about, and she has good remedies. She’s a breath of fresh air !!! You go, Ms. Warren!!
NYer: Country before party, wish we had that here. Good article, Andy.
    CMD: Scary. Very scary!!

Hope you get all your chores done, and get a chance to relax. Sending good vibes to you in church for your team. We don’t play till 9/9 with New Orleans. We shall see. Hope that you have a good rest of your day, and Thanks, Tom.

This just in: “An anonymous man purchased 100 generators and other essentials for the folks in Grand Bahamas and Abaco. Such a caring man to do this loving endeavor.”
    2. “Trump is a national embarrassment. It’s also embarrassing to know that 41% of Americans think that having a national embarrassment president is just hunky dory.” ~ John P. ~

  3. Sen. Warren continues to impress me with her knowledge and solid performances.  She strengthens her hold as my #1 pick.

  4. Medical Update

Yesterday’s Wound Care Clinic visit went pretty well – other than I had a 10:00 appointment, got there early, but wasn’t seen until 12:00!  Those things (as I know first-hand) happen.  But I was kind of surprised no one ever came in to update me WRT the delay.

Fortunately I had my reading material w/ me.

Everyone agreed w/ me that it’s definitely looking better.  And after the Lidocaine, they probe the wound 360 degrees around to take measurements of the size of the cavity.  (Something I could not tolerate w/out the Lidocaine.)

She did some debridement and the wound was sorer than it’s been both yesterday afternoon (not unexpected after debridement) and today (maybe a little surprising), so I’m anxious to see what it looks like when I change the dressing after my shower this evening.

I get to do the wick change myself Friday or Saturday, and Monday.  (The wick is supposed to stay in 2-3 days.)  And go back next Wednesday for a recheck.

  5. CNN: She has been my #1 pick for quite a while now, and says that way.
New Yorker: We will see whether,or not, their deliberations/efforts come to any good.
CMD: Yes, hugely scary!  The remaining Koch brother might just die of a priapism, if these clowns ever get the needed votes.
Joanne’s Randy Rainbow piece is wonderful, as is he.  And, to spinoff of Randy’s final point, here is my favorite meme:  “I keep hearing people ask is ‘America ready for a woman president? Or a gay?’ Funny thing is I never heard of anyone ask if America was ready for an incompetent, vindictive, mentally unstable, misogynistic, homophobic, racist, traitorous egomaniac and yet, here we are.”  Randy will have no difficulty finding concepts upon which to elaborate, as only he can.  WOW! Imagine Dumpy’s utter outrage if Randy gets the Emmy, and becomes national news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Actually, he will become national news, or is already, just by dint of having received the nomination.
    ‘toon: Awful!
Nameless: Still wishing you the best!

  6. Nameless, Good vibes to you, and thanks for the update, and hoping for a full recovery! Take care.

Mitch: RR is the outlet that we all need, and with his doses of truth and humor mixed in, he’s awesome.

Joanne, Thanks for posting, I forgot to mention, RR is fabulous, and gets better and better. Thanks!!

  7. Cartoon: Sad
CNN: Elizabeth is moving along with great style. I honestly hope that she can stay ahead and make it to the run offs with tRump.
NY: bOris is like tRump. Both full of pure evilness. Not wanting to do anything for the people of their countries. Just think of themselves.
    CMD: Scary indeed.
Hope your day went well. We aren’t going to see relief from the high heat and humidity till Sunday.
Have fun with your fantasy football.
    Take care.

  8. I just haven’t got time to comment right now, so I hope I can make up for that with this:

  9. Every great program, every great project began as a dream. Every ambitious plan that ultimately succeeded was mocked by nincompoops who had big mouths and small minds. You said it, Madame Warden – we are in peril, our civilization is in peril. We must all take drastic measures or our children and grandchildren will hate us. “Why do I have to subsist on bugs and grass? Because of YOU, grampa!”

Some of the rich are preparing for an apocalypse by building bunkers or planning to escape to distant islands. Here is some good news: All they are doing is delaying the inevitable. What will they do when the food in their shelters runs out? What if survivors from the 99% find their hidey-holes and decide to bury them alive? Or when pirates find their island retreats?

Green energy is the future. Fossil fuels are not only destructive, it is limited. We will run out of coal and oil, but we will never run out of sunlight or wind. The Green New Deal is a thing, and only ignoramuses and the stooges of Big Fossil Fuel oppose it.

  10. Thanks and Exhausted TGIF Hugs to all. 19

  11. CNN — “Where he [Trump] is right now is a nightmare!”  AMEN!!!  Liz Warren!!!!!  Great to see Warren breakdown the myth of a Green New Deal breaking the backs of positive employment and the economy.  Naming the ‘fat cats’ for their greed did not hurt either.  Trouble is, those that need to hear her message won’t.

CMD —  Describing the proposed constitutional convention “a threat to every American’s constitutional rights and civil liberties.” is an understatement.  Get every Republican and lowlife out of office from dogcatcher up to the WH.

The New Yorker — Obviously, in this case, the Brits have more sense than the Republican legislators in the US!

Cartoon — Sad, sad!  And the controversy over the death (murder) of Crazy Horse at the age of about 37 years is just as reprehensible!
