I hear this on the radio over and over again. I see it on the TV over and over again. Even the candidate’s wife, Jill Biden, says that we should hold our noses and vote for her husband, because he is the only one, who can beat trump. This argument has one problem: it just isn’t true.
Yet another poll has emerged suggesting that were the 2020 election held today, every one of the top Democrats could defeat President Trump.
A poll from Quinnipiac released on Wednesday shows former Vice President Joe Biden leading over Trump by 16 points among registered voters, while Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) leads by 14 points, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) by 12 points, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) by 11 points, and South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg leads him by nine points.
This same poll shows that 56 percent of voters disapprove of Trump’s job performance — with 50 percent disapproving strongly — and only 30 percent say that Trump is doing more to unite the country than to divide it; that’s an all-time low in this poll. With 37 percent of voters saying the economy is getting worse, this is the first time since Trump was elected that more say the economy is getting worse than getting better…. [emphasis added]

Lawrence O’Donnell covered the story in detail.
Since Biden avoids the issues to focus on electability, and since four other Democrats can also beat Trump handily, why should we pick Biden? He isn’t a Republican. Otherwise, I only have reasons why other Democrats are better choices. In any event, don’t be afraid to chose the Democrat of your choice. That said, if Biden does win the nomination, he is infinitely more lucid, more caring, more just, and more competent on his worst day than Trump is on his best day.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
I agree with you, on this, on being lucid.
Really good video, I still think it’s an open race, up till the end, and how the debate(s) continues.
Time will tell…
I would also like to point out that, the United States being the United States, at this point in the campaign, most of them have ZERO name recognition among Republicans, and less than you thik they do among Democrats. As that changes, the polling is going to change with it.
I don’t know how old the saying is, “Vote with your heart in the primary and with your head in the general” – I’m 74 and heard it this year for the first time. But it certainly feels like sound advice to me.
We have 14 months and change until Election Day in the US, but that poll is a hopeful sign. Let us hope that the Democrats not only nominate a worthy candidate, but can create a campaign with a better slogan than “I’m With Her.”
How about:
“Let’s End the Chaos”
or
“We Can Make Him Stop”
As the saying goes, a week is a lifetime in politics. There’ll be ups and downs for all the candidates.
But since the 2016 election (which Hillary won by 3 million votes, and would be president w/ a shift of just 80,000 votes in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin), I’ve often thought: How is Trump going to expand his “base”? He hasn’t done it in 2.5 years, and if anything, it’s slipping.
As always, the key will be GOTV!
All we can do now is hope for the best and not drive ourselves insane by reading all the hoopla on FB and other places, determined to start a ruckus and make Democrats insecure.
I do not read the hoopla, barely pay attention to the political news, and it helps to keep my B/P in a good place. It is much too early to be wringing our hands, especially, as Nameless points out, the clown is slipping. He is showing just how inept he is as a leader, and as a human.
A ninety-minute monologue with the invited press? Sounds a tad Trumpian to me. But if it turns out that Biden is to be the Democratic candidate, so be it. Unless Biden starts to show more of this Trumpian behaviour. America can’t afford to have two dotards in a row as president.
Thanks, Hugs, and Amen to All!
The only poll that truly matters is the poll on election day. Having said that, these early polls are encouraging. There is no doubt, Trump and his sycophant Republicans and enablers must be ushered out the door.
