I’m pretty tired out, because WWWendy got caught in traffic and was 45 minutes. We had extra work to do, because she and her girlfriends are committing wanton debauchery in a German Village this weekend so my next shower day won’t be until Monday. Today is a grocery delivery day. BTW, I fixed the Mouse. I had to move the wireless receiver from the back of the computer to a USB port on my hub near the front.

From Newsweek: A man, allegedly a correctional officer, drove a pickup truck into a group of Jewish peaceful demonstrators protesting outside the Wyatt Detention Center in Rhode Island on Wednesday night.
Hundreds of Jewish protesters, mostly members of Never Again Action, a group that advocates for the rights of migrants detained by ICE, gathered outside the Donald W. Wyatt Detention facility in Central Falls on Wednesday evening. The protesters stood blocking the entrance of the facility, linking arms while chanting for the abolition of ICE and the end to America’s harsh immigration policies.
At around 10 p.m. local time, a dark-colored pickup truck drove slowly up to a group of roughly 40-50 protesters blocking the entrance to the location’s parking lot, before driving straight through the crowd, according to a video uploaded to Twitter.
Amy Anthony, one of the protest’s organizers, told Newsweek that the group has identified the man driving the truck as a correctional officer. “We have confirmed that the person driving the truck is a correctional officer who works for the detention facility,” she said. “The driver was in his uniform when he hit the protestors. His rank and name were embroidered on his shirt and he was wearing a badge at the time.”

From Vanity Fair: John Hickenlooper’s presidential campaign has been on death’s doorstep for weeks. He’s been nonexistent in the polls; he was mistaken for a reporter upon arriving at the first presidential debate in June; and in July, his own staff staged an intervention, urging him to drop his bid to “pursue other opportunities.” Now, the former Colorado governor appears ready to heed their advice. The Associated Press reports that Hickenlooper will announce his withdrawal on Thursday, making him the latest 2020 Democrat to exit the crowded primary field. His announcement will come amid speculation that he is weighing a Senate run against vulnerable Colorado Republican Cory Gardner, but a Hickenlooper campaign source told Politico he will not address that possibility.
From what I’ve seen of him, I’m not favorably Impressed, but I trust he has some god qualities. If the choice is he or Trump-endorser Corey Gardner for a Senate seat, the worst Democrat is infinitely better than the best Republican. Vote Blue, no matter who! RESIST!!

MSNBC – Yeah, sorry about Rachel’s ligament, but glad she came up with this report. Such a clear explanation of EXACTLY how it works. And more states likely to get suckered. Not that McConnell got suckered – I think he knew EXACTLY what he was doing.
Newsweek – I did catch this at Daily Kos, but nowhere else. Thanks for covering it. Awful as it is, it needs to be widely known. One point – the first reports said tha, after the truck drove through, the police then used pepper spray on the protesters. In fact, it was the other ICE employees who wielded the pepper spray. The police, however, did nothing to stop it. Is there a final word, does anyone know, whether any of the protesters was injured by the truck? They didn’t think so, but weren’t sure. (Of course being hit with pepper spray is injurious. And dangerous. And has been fatal, especially to people with decreased lung functions.)
VF – Yeah, he has some good qualities. I am still hoping for a more progressive Senator,b ut Hick certainly does have the name recognition. And if it’s a choice between him and Gardner, I’ll take him (but probably not in the primary.)

FYI: Just got back from the ER, (4 hours). Hubs has a kidney stone that is trying to pass. This is the 2nd trip in two months, and from what I’ve seen from him, it’s extremely painful. MSNBC: I’m so sorry for Rachel that she had to forego her beach holiday, but her time on the couch was well spent. The report she read was damning in itself, but you can leave it up to Rachel to spell out what part was played by Republicans like Mitch McConnell. Not that it matters much, Americans knew that he was in Russian pockets when he prevented Obama from exposing the Kremlin interference in the 2016 elections before people went to the polls and voted Trump in. It didn’t prevent them from voting the Turtle back in too, so the question is if they will now.
Newsweek: I never heard about this; couldn’t get above the noise on the Wall-Street tumble, I guess.
Sad to hear that correctional officers take it upon themselves to employ terrorist tactics to stop peaceful protesters from expressing their dismay with ICE and the administration leading it. Good to hear that this particular group consisted of Jewish protesters, joined in Never Again Action, who want to prevent what happened in 1930’s Germany to repeat itself in the US.
VF: Good that sense is starting to prevail among Democratic candidates and some realise that they could do much more for their country if they focus on running Republicans out of office. I hope Hickenlooper will do the right thing.
