I feel very tired.  I woke up at midnight and felt so uncomfortable, due to the humidity (now 86%) that I could not get back to sleep.  At least today is the last 90°+ day in the crappy old CatBox.  TGIF!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:12 (average 5:20).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): Neal Katyal On How To Prosecute A Sitting President

I’d love to see a state prosecutor indict the SOB and his whole clan. RESIST!!

From NY Times: The federal government will resume executions of death row inmates after a nearly two-decade hiatus, Attorney General William P. Barr said Thursday, countering a broad national shift away from the death penalty as public support for capital punishment has dwindled.

The announcement reversed what had been essentially a moratorium on the federal death penalty since 2003. Five men convicted of murdering children will be executed in December and January at the federal penitentiary in Terre Haute, Ind., Mr. Barr said, and additional executions will be scheduled later.

What else could we expect from Barrf? He demonstrated, once again, that Republicans are pro-death. RESIST!!

From The New Yorker: In a sign that Donald J. Trump’scontrol over the Republican Party is now complete, congressional Republicans on Thursday defended his decision to give the Russian President Vladimir Putin office space at the White House.

A newly emboldened Trump told reporters that he had furnished Putin with a corner-office suite and secretarial staff to use whenever the Russian President is in town. “He says he plans to be here more and more,” Trump said….

…At the U.S. Senate, a visibly angry Senator Lindsey Graham called allegations that there was anything improper about Trump giving office space to Putin “totally unfair, disgusting, and vile.”

Ok, Andy… Where’s the humor? Where’s the satire? That’s just straight news! RESIST!!

  1. 5:55 I for one do not need any more iron in my diet. If you do, have at it.

MSNBC – I have been wondering how an OLC memo has the authority of the Constitution. Mueller clearly considers that it does. I have also been thinking that one of the first things we do once we have the Executive Branch back is to have our Justice Department look at that opinion and supersede it with one that is more in accordance with the Constitution. WRT Statute of Limitations, I would hope that statute would be longer than five years on obstruction of justice, for heaven’s sake. WRT State prosecution, 25 Democratic Attorneys General are already working together to make something happen.

NYT – Of course. Cruelty is the point. (In addition to killing off voters.)

THY – Guess we should brush up on our Russian language skills.

Cartoon – The reports of its death have been greatly exaggerated. It’s badly hurt, but still kicking, and it does have some defenders.

  2. MSNBC: It would be prudent for this case to be picked up by a state prosecutor, but dt would snub his nose at that…as he has done from day 1 of being bogus potus.

NYT: I can’t fathom anyone in their right mind going through this train of thought. Horrible, indeed !!

NYer: Well, sure…why not??? Come on in, and don’t forget to wipe your feet on the ‘Welcome Mat’ too!

Cartoon: A worthy and needed organization.

It was 10 degrees cooler today here, that humidity is awful too! Hope you get a change to R&R today, take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

*This just in: OK Senator Jim Inhofe said that “Fort Sill will not be re-opened as a concentration camp for our relatives trying to cross the ‘so called boder”. ~The Indigenous Environmental Network was proud to work on this action.~
    2. dt promoting a new right wing network (OAN), that caters just to him. (You knew that was coming, right?)~ Tammy J. ~
    3. dt – “Presidential harassment!” People: “We’re allowed to criticize here in America. If you don’t like it,…leave!” ~ Glenn M. ~

  3. oops…that’s ‘Border’ in the first comment of the TJI…thx!

  4. MSNBC: A state indictment?  What a wonderful idea?
NYT: A first , emotional, reaction, on hearing of the crimes, says “Go for it!”, but being civilized means going beyond aw emotional reactions, so I think it is a shame, though not out of character for this cess pool of an admin., to reinstitute this!
New Yorker: But, Putin already has staff at the W.H., and does not need an office.  He just needs Lindsey Graham to lick his boots, too.
‘Toon: Can you just see Ben Franklin reaching from the grave to eat Dumpy’s head?

  5. We Midwesterners have long said: “It’s not the heat, it’s the humidity!”

My air conditioner “died” yesterday – and it just had its annual checkup less than a month ago! It got a new high voltage wire and Capacitor. Whole thing cost me $415, so I think it should be working! And the tech has not shown up yet to fix it. So o for me right now it’s the heat AND humidity.

    • You have my deepest sympathies!  Hope it gets fixed very, very soon!

      • The tech finally came at 5:45 (only a tad short of his “scheduled” 2:00 arrival).

He was very nice & seemed very competent.  It’s always been my policy to watch (?hover?) over anyone who comes to work on my home.

It was a “Contactor” that got burned out (w/e that is).  I will say, after he’s was done he showed and explained what went wrong.  And although my electrical acumen is not much beyond “Don’t-Stick-A-Fork-In-The-Outlet” it really made perfect sense.

The downside it was another $175.  The upside: He gave me a free half-pound of Freon (which they no longer produce and goes for $139/lb.).

Bottom Line: Nike and I are cool as cucumbers … again!  (Although I don’t think the critter minded one bit that the AC was out.)

  6. If we can stick it to tRump after he leaves office, maybe we should just forget the whole impeachment thing and focus on “regime change” in 2020. Since it will be a lot easier to slap charges on tRump’s fat orange arse when he is a former President, Dems need to work on winning back the White House and regaining the Senate. Besides, with Rethuglicans in control of the Senate, any impeachment process won’t get far.

    • I don’t think any time spent investigating will be wasted.  Even if it doesn’t lead to impeachment, it will keep his crimes, and those of his crime family, in the public eye, and that has to be a good thing.

  7. MSNBC: I keep thinking of the song “Wishing and Hoping” by Dusty Springfield when it comes to a state indictment.
    NYT: Awful decision/ruling.
    TNY: Insane….he’s lost his marbles.
Cartoon: Sad seeing it not being protected. Shameful
Yes, it’s boiling here too. It was suppose to not be so humid, but it was. Just remember TC, just one more week.

  8. 3:03 Doesn’t look too appetizing, so I hope Lynn is faster so she can have it.

MSNBC: It must become clear to Trumps associates by now that he needs to win a second term, no matter what. Not for Trump, though, he thinks he’s entitled to a second term…and a third…actually to be president for life. It is becoming increasingly clear that Trump needs to stay on just to keep out of prison. So, as he’s already pointed out, he’s willing to take any dirt on any Democrat the Russians can dig up for him. He’s indeed completely lawless.

NYT: What more will Trump/Barrf give their base happy? Public executions? Games where people, and people and animals fight each other to the death? I bet showman Trump would love to host one of those.

TNY: Not a corner office per se, Andy. But I’m sure Trump will give him his best suite in Mar-a-Lago for him to drop by any time. State business can then be discussed over dinner or during a round of golf.

I hope both temperature and humidity will drop when you’re moving digs, TomCat.

  9. Thanks and pooped hugs to all! 19
