I watched Robert Mueller’s statement this morning. He there was no evidence that Trump did not commit a crime. He said that as a DOJ employee, DOJ policy does not allow him to charge a sitting [P]resident. Because he could not charge, he refused to opine further. He said the remedy is up to Congress, based on the evidence he preserved. In the meantime The Congressional leadership is under pressure from more and more quarters to open an impeachment inquiry.
[A]nother liberal activist organization is ramping up the pressure on House Democrats to launch impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump, a move that leadership has continued to warn against amid low public approval rating for forcibly removing the president from office.
Stand Up America, a grassroots group that says it’s comprised of nearly 2.4 million progressive members, will launch a new campaign Tuesday aimed at mobilizing people across the country to demand House Democrats open an impeachment inquiry—something a growing number of key lawmakers on the House Judiciary Committee already support.
The campaign will feature a push for constituents to call and visit their Democratic representatives to sway their opinion, in addition to digital advertisements funded by Stand Up America. The group points to findings by special counsel Robert Mueller’s report, which includes nearly a dozen detailed instances where Trump tried to remove Mueller from his post, for why it believes impeachment “can’t hold off any longer.”
“It’s time for every member of Congress to go on the record about whether they believe Trump’s criminal conduct is acceptable,” Stand Up America Founder and President Sean Eldridge told Newsweek in a statement.
Stand Up America joins the likes of MoveOn and Need to Impeach, other liberal organizations that advocate for impeachment. The growing number of calls for such a proceeding from activist groups could put the Democratic Party in a more politically difficult situation, with leadership concerned that such a divisive process could place Democrats in swing districts in peril come 2020…

In my opinion, the House should begin a formal impeachment inquiry. That will put the investigation on front street and keep it in the public eye. Thrice there is no reasonable chance to garner 67 votes in the Republican-controlled Senate, Democrats are not obligated to issue formal Articles of Impeachment.
I have only one compelling argument against impeachment.

That compelling argument really is compelling, isn’t it.
I have to believe that at least the Democrats in Congress understand that there is a huge difference between opening an impeachment inquiry and actually impeaching (who knows what Republicans think – they do elect ignorant people.)But I also think many fear that the voters do not grasp that difference. Opening an impeachment inquiry must come with a lot of explaining that difference, and, hopefully, help from the media (except of course Fox and Sinclair, which are worse than useless) in spreading the understanding of that difference. And I might point out that activists are not helping by shouting “impeach!” instead of “open an inquiry!”
I too, also believe that the Dems need to stay focused on the investigations, and to keep them coming, alongside with a side plate of the impeachment inquiry.
If we started a full force impeachment at this point, and failed, (as with the complacent R’s), the bogus potus will use that point in firing up his base non-stop, and himself, as in ‘look at me, look what they’re doing’ attitude and at his campaign rallies.
We must work slowly, systematically, and oust him in 2020 !!
At this point I’m comfortable in letting the investigations proceed as currently envisioned. But my patience isn’t infinite, and there are clear advantages to initiate a Congressional Inquiry – as excellently detailed here:

But unless there are rock-solid guarantees that enough republicans in the Senate, given release of facts documenting Trump’s obstruction and/or other “high crimes and misdemeanors”, would agree to convict him – I do NOT want this to go to the Senate.
Because if it did, as currently configured, the Senate would not convict him. And then he’d have a double-pronged line of attack come election time:

But I think Mueller did a stellar job of inserting the shiv in Barr – but not too far:
“Barr lied. I know he lied & you know he lied. There WERE crimes committed, but he’s the AG and my boss – besides, DOJ prevents indicting a sitting president. So there’s not a helluva lot more I can do about it … at this point. But our Constitution does provide a way to remedy this cancer in our Oval Office. Time to start thinking seriously about that.”
Again, I’m willing to bide my time … for now. But at some point I hope Democrats will come to the realization that not only are politics a factor in making a decision, but also principle.

I agree. I don’t think it should go to the Senate, until and unless, there are enough votes to convict. However, if the House does not open impeachment hearings, Trump will say that exonerates him. If the House does not take Articles of Impeachment to the Senate, Trump will say that exonerates him. And is the Senate, does not convict, Trump will say that exonerates him. And he will say “those libtards are SO MEAN TO ME?” no matter what we do.

Appreciate that Mr Mueller did what he had to, so he could speak today to bring up issues that the no-good bArr wasn’t telling us.
I honestly hope that the Democrats take what he said and use it wisely.
I know 3 of the current Democrats who are running for President 2020, are all talking impeachment.
All these damages are mounting up again tRump and hopefully will be taken care of in the proper manner.
I don’t envy The Democratic leadership on their choice between continuing their current investigations and be completely stonewalled by Drumpf and his minions or starting impeachment procedures, even if they do not actually go for an unobtainable impeachment in the end. It is very hard for them to determine which option would have the most positive outcome by November 2020.

It’s a DOJ rule that needs to be changed.
t’s a DOJ rule which was put in place under Nixon, in order to make it clear that the Vice President CAN be so charged. It was a ploy to push out Agnew. But it also clarified that a President CAN be so charged after leaving office, and that pretty much pushed Nixon into resigning immediately after installing a new Vice President, conformed by the Senate, who he was confident would pardon him.
Unfortunately, Trump is not that smart.
