It’s another Busy day, here in the CatBox.  I was pleasantly surprised when CCC delivered my fridge yesterday. I had been told it would be a 10 ft3 unit.  I had a 14 ft3.  They delivered a 15.5 ft3.  That;s big enough to store an extra dawg, maybe 2. It keeps my food quite cold.  Furthermore, it’s brand new.  I like it.  TGIF!!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:22 (average 6:48).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): Assange Arrest Puts WikiLeaks Tie To Donald Trump Camp Back In Spotlight

It’s hard to tell which leaks Putin’s Puppet likes best: Wikileaks or Russian Hooker leaks. RESIST!!

From YouTube (CNN Channel): Jeffrey Toobin on proposed policy: This is grotesque

As a resident of a sanctuary city, I would rather see refugees released here than Republican Sheeple. The latter are violent criminals and thugs. RESIST!!

From Boston Herald: Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren is proposing a new tax on corporate profits that’s designed to prevent business giants from taking advantage of the existing tax code to effectively pay a zero rate.

The 7% tax on corporate profits above $100 million is the latest in a series of ambitious policy proposals from the Massachusetts senator. It’s in line with her broader push to rein in such industries as the financial sector and technology firms .

Her campaign estimates the proposal would hit roughly 1,200 firms. Those corporations would pay the tax on top of any liability under current tax rules, which, as Warren said in a Thursday blog post on her plan, is necessary because “our corporate tax code is so littered with loopholes that simply raising the regular corporate tax rate alone is not enough.”

Dubbing her pitch “the Real Corporate Profits Tax,” Warren wrote: “It will make our biggest and most profitable corporations pay more and ensure that none of them can ever make billions and pay zero taxes again.”

I’m 100% for it. When a giant corporation has received so many custom loopholes from Republicans that they pay no taxes, raising the rate does not help. A higher percentage of 0 is still 0.  We need them to pay their fair share. RESIST!!

  1. RM: Good video. Synchronization of data, it’s all there. Scary how this all came out, and how it went down to getting the bogus potus in the WH. dt – Wiki?? Who dat?? Wha??….

CNN: Geez….this is pretty low. Horrible! The only good purge would be dt. imho.

BH: Hey, this sound wonderful !! Let’s get behind her on this.

Cartoon: A sad day indeed for the Nation.

Great news! Nothing like getting a new refrigerator, and that you like it. Hope that you have a good rest of your day, take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

*This just in: “Know what endangers journalists? Assange working with Russian intelligence to elect a US president who calls journalists ‘enemy of the people’.” ~ Linda S.

  2. Way to go, Liz Warren! Our country’ tax system needs a serious overhaul to shift the burden off the shoulders of the struggling working class and back onto those who are more able to pay. Maybe we can’t make it 100% fair, but we can certainly make it a lot less unfair. However, the only way to make sure such a tax code gets implemented is to make sure we have a Progressive – not Democrat, but PROGRESSIVE – majority in the House as well as the Senate. Democrats need to focus on winning, and they can win ONLY if they hearken to the vox populi.

  3. MSNBC: So, maybe no collusion by Donny Boy (maybe!) but clear interference by Julie the rapist!  Funny how sexual abuse seems to flow with power but…that’s what rape and sexual abuse are, they’re all about power!
CNN: “…indicative of the attitude that undocumented immigrants are something less than human,” and indicative of the low level of humanity the WH!  But, “using” is what the Empty Orange does!!  “…intellectual bankruptcy” is so on the money!  “…workable policy?”  When was the last time we saw the GOPIGGIES have anything even remotely like that?  Coming back to “that”attitude, it is exactly what dictators, or dictator wannabes always trot out…that anyone other than their  favored “in group” is less than human.
BH: Liz has ALWAYS had great ideas!
‘Toon: And Hitler thought that spreading the news would completely demoralize the American troops, and the war effort, here.  I am sure the GOPIGGIES of the day celebrated!

  4. 5:18 There’s a folk etymology which says it was made for Mary Queen of Scots when she got seasick crossing the channel from Calais. The cook kept muttering “Marie est malade” (Mary is ill) and it got applied to the confection

Yay! for the new fridge which really is new!

MSNBC – How anyone could possibly see this and still think A$$ange is a journalist, even a creepy, crooked journalist, boggles my mind. You might just as well call Charles Augustus Milverton a journalist (in case anyone doesn’t know, he was the blackmailer in one of the Conan Doyle stories whom Holmes called “the worst man in London.” Milverton got his information from dupes and crooks, BTW.)

CNN – I would rather see refugees released to sanctuary cities, even knowing that is a set-up, then held in Republican confinement. I believe we are smarter than they are and can, provided we know in advance something is a set-up, deflect it.

    Boston – Amen and Alleluia!

Cartoon – Sure seems odd he served three full terms, then died within, what, four months of his fourth inauguration after having been forced by the party to replace Wallace with Truman.

  5. Many of us will forever associate FDR’s funeral with Graham Jackson’s tear-streaked face, who had frequently played for FDR, when he stepped out from the portico as the FDR cortege departed Warm Springs to play his poignant, heartfelt rendition of Dvorak’s melody for “Going Home” on his accordion.

  6. MSNBC: Hope it does open more hidden evil facts out about tRump.CNN: He love’s playing with people’s lives. No respect for others what-so-ever.Boston: Way to Elizabeth Warren. We certainly need a system that’s there for the people.Happy to hear that you got a brand new 15.5 ft refrigerator. You deserve a nice surprises.

  7. 3:50 My favourite jam.

MSNBC: LOL, this administration has pushed Ecuador to throw Assange out of their embassy in London by promising it a naval base and lots of financial support, and this administration has then asked for his extradition on the basis of a charge they’re had to come up with within hours because there wasn’t one, but apparently this administration has either forgotten to explain this to Drumpf or he had no clue what it was about, as usual. Only now Drumpf is starting to realize that having Assange extradited and charged, the focus is back on him, his overly-expressed love for Wikileaks in the past and his joy over receiving the Democrat’s Russia-hacked emails through Wikiieaks. My guess is that, as soon as Drumpf realizes what is happening, and that may take a while, he will have the charges minimised and then pardon Assange after conviction to get the media of his back.

CNN: When you think you’ve heard it all, this comes up and your first reaction is: this is fake news, right? This couldn’t possibly be true, because it’s immoral, unconscionable and unconstitutional. And only people who have no morals, who have no conscience and who think they are above the law would think this up. 📢 🥁 🎺 Enter Miller and Drumpf. 📢 🥁 🎺

    BH: Go for it, Liz!

  8. Puzzle — 4:05  I never did like marmalade but my father sure did!

MSNBC — Very interesting!  With this, I wonder how safe Don Jr is from prosecution?  I know that Mueller did not charge him, but this certainly sounds like he should have been.  The Dark Lord would really get his knickers in a twist if that happened.

CNN — “create chaos on political enemies”???  One person said that the Trump régime was “treating refugees like a pestilence”.  The Trump régime and the Republican Reich have gone beyond the pale.  They are corrupt and morally bankrupt!

Boston Herald — After listening to a brand new Democrat ask Jamie Dimon why someone working in his bank at entry level can’t make ends meet, he had no satisfactory answer but could only chirp out that she might be doing his job eventually.  He makes $131 million per year.  Not only should these corporations pay more taxes, they should be paying adequate wages.  Think back to WalMart whose pay is so low that its employees have to rely on food stamps.  Food stamps are a government programme so tax payers are funding the programme, not the corporations who pay no taxes.  Kudos to Elizabeth Warren!

    Cartoon — A great man!

Your refrigerator sounds great.  I think it is about the same size as mine, maybe even a bit bigger!  It’s party time!!!

    • You know that “brand new Democrat,” Katie Porter, is a former student of Elizabeth Warren, who encouraged her to run, fundraised for her, and fought for her.  (And now you know why.)

  9. It was your lucky day. You benefitted from their left hand not knowing what their right hand was doing.

    • Jerry, I think you’re right.

Everyone, I don’t see Jerry as often as I’d like, but he was coming to Politics Plus from it’s inception on Blogger, at least 15 years ago. 03

  10. Thanks, Hugs, and Amen to all. 29

  11. Thanks, Tom & Lynn. I spend most of my time on twitter these days ( @JerryCritter ) except when I am in Twitter jail for saying nasty things to and about Donald.

  12. You?  Saying nasty things about Fuhrer Drumpfenfarten?!!?  Who woulda thunk it?!!? 26
