I had a busy day yesterday, and after a long week, I’m feeling quite tired.  My only medical issue is a yeast infection in the diaper area.  No wonder the antibiotic ointment didn’t work.  My next trip put isn’t until a week from Monday for my semi-annual eye torture.  TGIF!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:05 (average 4:18).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): Rep. Adam Schiff’s Controlled Anger At GOP’s Indifference On Russia

Have truer words than Schiff’s ever been spoken? I think not. RESIST!!

From YouTube (CNN Channel): See DeVos’ reaction to CNN’s questions after testimony

Every penny Democrats can’t spend on disabled kids is a penny Republicans can give to a billionaire. RESIST!!

From Daily Kos: One inherent danger of allowing a religious minority to install a puppet controlled by religious fanatics in the White House is the now unfolding threat of government officially establishing religion – the Christian religion. Any American’s confidence that the U.S. Constitution is a protection against government establishing religion is grossly misplaced and, that belief is about to be disabused by the current religious conservatives responsible for adjudicating the law of the land.

Because a nearly half-century-old Supreme Court ruling prevented the government from advancing religion, the wall of separation between church and state is almost certainly going to be eviscerated by the Christian conservatives on the current Supreme Court. The crusade to demolish the wall of separation is being advanced by one of the Heritage Foundation SCOTUS nominees confirmed shortly afterTrump corrupted every aspect of  the government his tiny little hands touched. However, it is noteworthy that Neil Gorsuch’s theocratic crusade is wholly supported by Trump’s other SCOTUS appointee, religious serial liar and sexual abuser Brett Kavanaugh.

The reason the “Establishment Clause” is going to be found unconstitutional by the current Court’s Christian conservatives is crystal clear; they believe a 1970’s-era ruling prohibiting government establishment of religion adhered to the U.S. Constitution and is patently wrong. The prohibition on government establishing religion is appalling to evangelicals and the theocrats on the High Court are not going to tolerate it any longer.

I agree with this author with one highly notable exception. Republicans are not establishing the Christian Religion. There is nothing remotely Christian about the Republican anti-Christian dogma of hate, lies, and oppression. Their religion is the polar opposite of authentic Christianity. It’s Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christianity. RESIST!!

  1. MSNBC: Great video. Boy, this was epic!!! I’ve listened to this several times. Stood strong, and his words were on point. Kudos to Mr. Schiff for saying his words, (in a controlled manner), to the GOPhers. I echo his words. He held the helm! Respect!

CNN: Just in case, no one knows, lol, ..she’s disgusting, and shameful..dt pushed this proposal out the window, after so many people said NO to this cut in funding for SpEd. Olympics.

DK: Holy Moly! Not good at all. Still reading, and the comments.

Cartoon: Didn’t much hear about the date, as I will still in the military, and overseas. What a glorious day though!!

Glad that you’ll be on the mend soon, and I know you’re glad it’s Friday. Hope that you have a good day, take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

*This just in: DT – “He doesn’t mind you seeing the Mueller Report – the same way he doesn’t mind you seeing his tax returns.” ~ Wayne A. ~ 2. Trump asked aides to cut federal funding for Puerto Rico. “Why not ask that we cut out his golfing instead?” ~ pb ~
Here’s Alex Jones on his ‘best behavior’ in an Austin restaurant the other day….(awesome food, btw..)

  2. MSNBC:  Wow!!!  Adam Schiff was terrific.  I have never seen him angry before but I am amazed at how well he showed his anger in such a controlled manner to the GOP.  The sad this is that from watching the video they didn’t seem phased at all.

CNN:  Betsy Devos, like so many of Drumpf’s minions, make my skin crawl.  The gall to remove money from Special Olympics shows just how depraved the GOP is.

    DK:  Disgusting!!  Shared
Thank you TomCat.  I’m glad you will be healed up soon.  Rest up this weekend.

  3. Mr. Schiff is Pam’s congressman, AND BOY CAN SHE BE PROUD!!!!  Hillary, yes, that Hillary, was mistaken about “The Deplorables.” They are not out there in the country supporting Drumph, they were, and are, there, in congress.  Are you listening, Mr.Ryan?  Mr. Boehner?  We’ll not forget.
CNN: A Deplorable, in spades!  The special Olympics was set up by the Kennedys, and Drumph would be more than happy, I believe, to erase it just because of that.
DK: And this is one more bit of devilry that harkens back to St. Reagan, who (in)famously said that we “Need to get back to our “…spiritual roots,” and have a “spiritual awakening.”   If we go this way, we will really become a Banana Republic, and won’t that just be GREAT?  This stresses me out like little else that the Orange pool of cess has championed.  The Heritage Society, Charles Koch, and Mike Pence, be damned!!!
‘Toon: We should never have been there!  Or in Lebanon, or in Iran, or in Iraq, or in….

  4. 4:48 Maybe Squatch or Lona can save him.

Something fun to take our minds off – things.

Yeast infections are no fun at all, but at least they are treatable, and no one is giving anti-fungals to cattle or chickens that I know of, so they should stay that way. Hope this one goes away fast.

Adam Schiff, hero extraordinaire – he who REALLY has the best words. People who have watched him can tell he is angry. I wonder whether the Republicans got it. Lawrence certainly does. (OT – when I was studying education, all the texts said teachers should never show anger to students. I disagreed then, and I disagree now. If students do not see anger appropriately expressed, modeled clearly, how will they ever learn how to do that? This should be in every classroom in the nation, not as a political comment, but as a model for anger.)

Betsy de Voldemort – OMG, that smile. Does she ever drop it? Speaking of models, she is a model of *** PHONY ***

DKos – Yes. This has been scaring me for decades. HOW an an Amendment to the Constitution, which is therefore PART of the Constitution, be unconstitutional? And will there be any remedy other than increasing the size of the court? Which makes 2020 even more important that you thought it already was.

Cartoon – I didn’t work on that one. I worked on the one where Saigon was (insufficiently) evacuated, leaving Vietnamese who had worked for us to suffer and die. Did I know that at the time? Of course not

    • I think Panda should have done it on Tuxedo cats! 14

      • Tuxedo cats who are mostly black, sadly, share the problem.  My experience with cats who have both black and white (no grey or red) is that they are extremely talented at making up and telling stories.  (They don’t generally believe their own BS, though I had one who did, and what a character he was!)

  5. UPDATE

Hope to have a “Saturday/Sunday Smile” in lieu of “Friday Fun”.

Today was my bi-annual, 6-month cardiology check-up on my Atrial Fib.  They got a new Nurse Practitioner (NP) who I really like & saw first before the MD.  BUT she is extremely thorough (that’s a +), so I spent the entire morning into the early afternoon in the Cardiology Clinic.

    Bottom Line: I’m Doing Fine

Just took a lot longer to get there than I had anticipated.

Hope to put at least something up on Saturday or Sunday.

  6. MSNBC: Adam is remarkable. Speaking honest words defending his honor. Wish more would be like him and stand up strong against tRump.
CNN: Cutting the budget for The Special Olympics should of never even been brought up in the first place. It benefits so many special need children. Glad the bi*ch didn’t get away with her plan.
DK: Disgusting indeed.. Agree with others.
Hope you can get infection under control quickly.

  7. 3:02 Sorry, you’ll have to find your own brekky, TomCat.

MSNBC: Lawrence O’Donnell was absolutely right to bestow so much praise on the exceptionally honourable Chair of the Intelligence Committee, Adam Schiff, and his answer to the demand of the Republican members of that committee to resign. Yes, his retort will go down in history, as will Nunes and his eight cronies for their dishonorable behaviour. It was a pleasure to see them fidget during Schiff’s retort, but sadly it’s very unlikely that they all recuse themselves from the Committee because their obvious bias makes them unfit for any further work in that Committee.

CNN: Betsy DeVos was giving an excellent demonstration of how a cornered Republican behaves. She went by the book: first accuse your Democratic “opponent” of using those poor disabled kids for political ends when he did no such thing (a strategy propagated by the NRA when confronted by gun-control lefties, I recently learned) and if that fails, just boycott any other questions by ignoring them. And don’t forget to smile inanely all the time.

DK: Pence and Pompeo doing their worst in the White House (they’ve established a bible-study group among others, I understand), Talibangelist Republicans doing their bit in Congress and now SCOTUS is overtly pressured by two of their members; the writing is on the wall, I should think. I agree with you TomCat, that it isn’t true Christianity they want to implement in their government establishment of religion. But that shouldn’t be the reason for authentic Christians to oppose it, and Americans of other religions or atheists couldn’t care less about that point, I’d imagine; the Establishment Clause shouldn’t be touched for any religion.

    • I fully agree, Lona.  The establishment clause guarantees  equal treatment for all religions, including no religion.  I just get irked when authors blame Christianity for the vile heresy of Republican hate, lies and oppression.  13

  8. Puzzle — 3:05  No birdie fricassee today Puddy Tat since I tied you and Lona beat us both.  I sure hope you were not counting on that birdie for your next meal!  Besides, didn’t you give up types of meat for Lent?  09

MSNBC — The HONOURABLE Adam Schiff: “… but I do not think that conduct, criminal or not, is okay and the day we do think that’s okay, that is the day that we will look back and say that is the day America lost its way. …” — AMEN!!!  One can feel his anger and hear his voice crack as he says “America lost its way”.  Republicans have an excellent example of integrity in front of them and they will not see it because all they think about is power, yet still they demanded his resignation.  What a bunch of hyenas more interested in what they can get rather what the country needs.

CNN — That smiling she-devil certainly is Republican — does not accept responsibility for anything.  $18 million out of a budget of $70-80 billion?  WTH?!?  And then she hasn’t the courtesy to answer a few questions.  It would not surprise my to learn that Mick Mulvaney convinced Trump to make the cut along with cuts to Medicare and Medicaid.

Daily Kos — Establishing a “Christian” nation?  Other than the fact that the constitution has a no establishment clause, this lays the groundwork for discrimination . . . massive discrimination.  One need only look at Iran for example, or even Trump’s friend Saudi Arabia . . . Christians and others are persecuted.  Republicans will institutionalise discrimination.  And of course you’re correct TC, “There is nothing remotely Christian about the Republican anti-Christian dogma of hate, lies, and oppression. Their religion is the polar opposite of authentic Christianity.”

Cartoon — The troops were honourable, the nation not so much.

Crikey!!!  A yeast infection?  They suck big time!  I had one not long after being diagnosed with diabetes.  How are your blood sugars?  I have not had one in 17 years and I don’t want one ever again.  Talk about not being able to scratch where you itch!  I hope it clears up quickly.

  9. Thanks and pooped Hugs to all. 19
