Yesterday evening I came home from the hospital, and got the best night’s sleep I’ve had in a week.  The worst news is that it appears I’ll be living the rest of my life sucking on a snoot full of Oxygen.  CCC has found an apartment that may work for me, so I’m trying to put that together.  For the next several days, you won’t see much of me, so please keep running the site as though I were not here, and I will add when and what I can.  Thank you all so much for your wishes, thoughts and prayers.  I get a lot of love for such a mangy old puddy tat.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 6:34 (average 6:32).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Take:

From The New Yorker: Celebrating her election victory on Tuesday night, U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith said that, despite predictions that her state was ready to turn the page on its shameful past, “I never lost faith in Mississippi’s racists.”

“For weeks, we’ve been hearing national pundits say that Mississippi was ready to enter the twenty-first century,” Hyde-Smith told a crowd of supporters at her victory rally. “Tonight, with your help, we proved them wrong.”

Hyde-Smith said that, despite the media’s unearthing of a cavalcade of embarrassing comments and actions from her past, “I never doubted that, at the end of the day, the people of Mississippi would listen to the racist voices in their heads.”

Choking back tears, Hyde-Smith thanked her supporters for honoring Mississippi’s storied heritage of hatred and cruelty.

Dang Andy!  Republicans sure haven’t changed while I’ve been gone, have they?  RESIST!!

  1. Welcome home TC! There are smaller, easier to manage O2 options your health team should be able to ensure you get. Hope the new possible digs have better bathing options in their design, along with other benefits.

  2. Glad to know you are feeling better, even if only marginally. Oxygen tube in the snoot is no fun – a friend of mine had to deal with that, but she bore up well. I hope that you soon feel up to your Politics Plus updates because I have missed those!

  3. Puzzle — 5:05  We did this one, and a bunch of others, while you were away.  I will be posting Thursday’s and Friday’s on a Friday OT.

The New Yorker — Straight reporting again!

Cartoon — That’s an awful lot of medication!  Don’t take it all at once!

How can we “keep running the site as though I were not here” when you are the inspiration and strength behind it?  You are always here, even when you aren’t.

Do what you have to do and I will keep posting OTs etc.  Let me know when you are going to post again so we don’t both post the puzzle etc.  Glad you’re home and feeling better, even if not 100% yet.

  4. Oh, yeah.  That puzzle was a beast.  I forget exactly how I did, but it was worse than yours, for sure.

No, Republicans have not changed a bit.  Not a bit.

I have seen people with, apparently, oxygen canisters shaped like, but even smaller than, cassette players from the eighties.  I don’t know how they work, I would guess some kind of hybrid between pure O2 and a nebulizer, but they do exist.

This is an interesting move by Tom Goldstein. IANAL so I am not sure how he has standing to present this motion, but apparently he does.

When you feel up to it,

And p.S. Yes, you do get a lot of love, and don’t you forget it. 🙂

  5. NYer: She is still the racist we all knew she was….shame she won, dammit!! Though Andy said it better. lol.

    Cartoon: Awwww…….

Sweet !!! Welcome home!!!! So glad to read that you are home, and resting/relaxing and recuperating. Take good, good care of yourself, Tom. Best to you, and (hopefully) for your new digs too. Glad you’re back! xo  0318

  6. Sooooo glad to hear that you are home. to “hear” your voice!?
New Yorker: THIS is a state that Dumphy calls “Great!”  The way fear of the “other” can run people’s minds is astounding!
Cute cartoon…take very good care of our favorite puddy tat!

  7. Good to see you back, TomCat. We have missed you and were worried, hoping that no news was indeed good news.

Nowadays there are little gadgets that extract and concentrate oxygen from the air so you don’t have to bother with ordering gas bottles in and lugging them around. That’s really a blessing for people who live in remote areas or who don’t have easy access to the bottles. I would hope one of those is suitable for you too. And good luck with the new apartment; I hope that they’ve found you one that suits your specific needs plus a little extra. Hope Wendy is better now too.

TNY: Printing transcripts from speeches held at Mississippi GOP rallies now, are we, Andy?

    Cartoon: Sweet.

  8. Just remember to slowdown, kick-back, relax and enjoy a second cup of coffee – at your leisure …

  9. Welcome home , TomCat. So happy that you’re doing better.
Have been praying for you and will continue to.
Like others have mentioned, there are smaller size units to help with your breathing out there, just need your insurance to do their jobs and get you one.
Hope all goes well with your move. Just take it easy and be safe.
Lynn had been posting the past few days. She has done a great job and we appreciate her doing that.
NY: No they haven’t. Was sick when I heard the racist bi*ch won.
    Cartoon: Cute.

  10. I am so glad to see you are home!  Take good care of yourself!

  11. Thanks everyone.  As several of you have said, there are smaller units for out and about, and getting one is already in the works.  I love you guys! 17
