I’m not running A/C in the CatBox, and may be able to leave it off all day.  Outside my window, liquid drops are falling from the sky on occasion.  I’ve seen this before, and know I should know what it is, but it’s been so long that I just can’t recall.

We hit the ground running!

Short Takes:

From YouTube (RWW Channel): RWW News: Pat Robertson Establishes A ‘Shield Of Protection’ Against Hurricane Florence

Barf Bag Alert!!

You folks in the Southeast are well and truly screwed! When he targeted gay people with a hurricane in 1986, God proved she has a sense of humor. Hurricane Bonnie damaged Robertson’s Virginia Beach HQ. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From YouTube (The Late Show Channel): Colbert To Bob Woodward: What Do You Fear Most?

I will get the book when it goes Audible. When that happens, whether I recover my sanity is an open question. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From Alternet: With D.C. appeals court judge Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court hearings over, and his record of lies to the Senate and legal extremism laid bare for all to see, voters are demanding answers from their senators.

One senator who seems highly unwilling to talk about the issue is Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee. In fact, at a town hall in Osceola, Grassley was bombarded with so many Kavanaugh questions that he started imploring the attendees to ask about something else.

"If you folks are wondering why we’re talking about Kavanaugh all the time, if somebody came here to talk about tariffs, somebody came here to talk about budgets, somebody came here to talk about something else, raise your hand," he said.

Why am I not surprised? Snake in the Grassley needs to be retired… permanently. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

  1. 8:23 Maybe one of those will open a larder somewhere.

Newest artwork from Jim Carrey, courtesy of George Takei.

RWW – It had to happen. Pat is so senile he thinks he IS God.

Colbert – Woodward is much too intelligent (and has way too much integrity) to get angry or frazzled when Trump calls him a liar. Woodward KNOWS he isn’t a liar. When you get the audible, do take it slow.

Alternet – Frankly, I’m surprised Grassley has enough smarts to realize he is trying to defend the indefensible and it can bite him. Kudos to the people of Osceola for being able to see through that, or at least to push at it.

Cartoon – Fifteen of seventeen terrorists were Saudi Nationals. Yet here we are, still in each others’ pockets with the Saudis, while Iraq and Afghanistan have been devastated.

The trick to yesterday’s trick question is that they were not cars, they were characters. They are Louie Renault, who was the police captain of Casablanca, and the owner of the Blue Parrot, Monsieur Ferrari. The movie, of course, was Casablanca.

    • I am posting this late, but I hope some will see it anyway.  Freya got the answer correct instantly, and deserves all kinds of credit.  The fact that the question was from “Car Talk” and that they (and I) used the expression “drive-on” rather than “walk-on” were, as they call it, “obfuscation,” but she saw right through it.  Kudos to Freya!

She sent me a PM at Care2 which i only just saw, but it is date-stamped September 10.

  2. If prayer could really stop hurricanes, we wouldn’t need evacuations, or shelters, or hurricane shutters, or storm insurance, et cetera. Pat Robertson is an utter goof.

The unknown is the source of a great deal of fear. What awaits us in those parts of the map marked “Here Be Dragons”? What will someone who is unpredictable and mentally unstable do, or say, or tweet next? The Orange Ogre is totally out of touch with reality.

Cartoon is tragically true. The Republikooks have done nothing but make us more and more enemies with endless, pointless wars that serve no purpose other than keeping the defense contractor fat cats happy.

  3. RWW: Lordy. He should have just said, “Calgon, take me away!” My friend is driving away from Wilmington, to land inwards of NC. *FYI, Joanne, they’re moving the MC recruits from Parris Island to MCLB, Albany, GA, ahead of Hurricane Florence.

Colbert: How wonderful to watch/listen to an intelligent man talk about his book. Heard the dt had a fit over this book. I’m reserving mine at the local library.

AN: Good for the folks at Osceola to bombard him. He deserves it.

    Cartoon: Word.

Gee, sending you rain from Texas, I didn’t think my memo would have went through. lol Hope that you have a good evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

Military Time: A person born on Sept. 11, 2001, can now enlist to fight in the war that day spawned. (with parental consent.)

*This just in: “Trump is harming the Dream of America more than any foreign adversary could.” Joe Scarborough

  4. RWW: The fact that there are people who listen to, and support such hogwash, is proof that the U.S. REALLY needs to step up its education programs, not destroy them!  What ever happened to the lady who got into a row boat in Tampa Bay, so that she could divert that hurricane with prayers, last year!  So, florence will, most probably NOT miss the mainland, and people will still listen to his claptrap!
Late Show: “How do you feel, when Trump alls you a liar?”  How about “It puts me in some wonderful company!”“To pass for mad in the eyes of fools is very flattering:” A quote from Eugene Sue.  To be attacked by a malignant narcissist ought to be very flattering, as well.
Alternet: Grassley needs to be put out to pasture, in the high grass.
Toon: And it was also a Tuesday, a horrid Tuesday.

  5. i received this email today;
An Invitation from Michael Moore to Attend the “People’s Premiere” of “FAHRENHEIT 11/9” on Wednesday, Sept 19!
” …if you are looking for a movie that reveals the complex web of political manipulation, abuses of power and institutional failures that made Trump possible, then this film is must-see…  This film really is Moore’s tour de force — a forceful, moving, and compelling call to action.”

  6. RWW: I hope none of Pat Robbertson’s followers in the Carolinas are stupid enough to believe this demented egomaniac and stay put when they are ordered to evacuate. But if they are, I hope the survivors won’t be dumb enough to sue him for every penny he has.

Stephen Colbert: Reading Comey’s book, which only gave us a picture of the White House madness in its early days, was already quite depressing. If I would read Woodward’s excellent book right now, I probably gnaw my fingernails to my elbow right up to the election results. Sometimes I have to shield myself from too much information on one specific topic to leave some room for other things happening in this world too.

Alternet: Agreed, TomCat, Greaseley should retire. In prison, for deliberately withholding relevant information on Kavenaugh’s background to the committee and to the public.

Cartoon: More of it to come if Republicans are allowed to keep safeguarding the US in the same way. VOTE BLUE!

  7. Thanks and tired hugs to all. 19
