From Alternet: Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) — who was once seen as the Republican Party’s best chance to defeat Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential primary — is now in serious danger of being defeated by a Democrat in the race for his Senate seat.
The conservative firebrand is now neck-and-neck with challenger Beto O’Rourke, a relative unknown in Texas who has run a fierce campaign to oust the sitting senator. Not only would the win be a victory for those critical of Cruz, who has a deeply polarizing effect on the populace and is reportedly disliked even by his GOP colleagues — but if O’Rourke comes out ahead in November, Democrats will have a much better chance of taking control of the Senate.
Go, Beto! Go! How sweet would that be? RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

8:45 I have to agree with Sherlock Holmes that excelling at chess is “one mark, Watson, of a scheming mind.” That’s not necessarily a bad thing, though. A scheming mind can be used for good. I wish more Democrats had one.

Meathead – I didn’t even watch All in the Family, but I am positive the comparison short-changes Archie. For one thing, Norman Lear has said so. However, I do see that Rob is driving at, and I hope the comarison will reach someone – anyone – and wake them up.
MSNBC – You CAN’T make these things up. It’s hard to imagine one she might have missed, isn’t it. She probably hasn’t seen John McCain LATELY because he’s been too ill, but she’s been around for a very long time, and probably met him sometime. Did you see David Corn on how suspicious it is that Oliver North is now president of the NRA?

It was a flop. Only four people were arrested. JL A found an article that explains why it was so small.
I saw that article too, and nearly laughed off a body part or two.
However, in toto, the event does seem to have been too large to be called a “flop,” although thankfully, no one was killed.
Virtually nobody here in town knew it had happened.

The cartoon is dead on. Republicans are beyond salvage.
Stephen Colbert: Scary that with only one president and eight years in between, part of the media has to fight again to get the truth out, isn’t it. About 40% of Americans are too dull-brained and unteachable to take on the lessons learned from the Bush administration. Reviving “All in the family” won’t help when Archie is living out his fantasies in the Oval Office right now.
MSNBC: Sometimes I get the impression that the Russians didn’t have a thought-out plan when they tried to infiltrate the election, but shot indiscriminately with shot in the hope to hit something eventually. Probably to their own surprise Drumpf, his associates and Republican were such easy targets that every piece of buckshot hit home as if it was a silver bullet. People in Drumpf’s team and in the GOP must be very (morally) corrupt to have fallen that easily for Russia’s trappings.
Alternet: Let’s hope many Texans are starting to think a little as we do: anything is better than Ted Cruz, even a Democrat. With Democrats fired up to vote for Beto, this little miracle might just take place. Go for it, Beto and go for it, Texan voters. Make it happen!

MSNC: This young lady really gets around, does she not? It is going to be interesting to watch her story get unravelled, and possibly connected to the bigger Russian story.

Rupert Murdoch, Roger Ailes, and their spoor from hell called Faux News, laid the seeds for this battle for reality, which QAnon is now expanding, and have screwed with the minds of the “uneducated” that Dumpy said he loved. He loved them because he could manipulate them, period. Damned twisted genius of malevolence!
Alternet: Cruz in the dumpster would be a great thing to be thankful for, later in November!

We can all hope that Cruz is defeated, wish McConnell and Paul would be up for reelection while Kentucky voters are upset with them. As for the cartoon, we still have some of those outhouses in this area, too bad they can’t be used as shown.

The Late Show — I was never a fan of All in the Family because Archie reminded me of my maternal grandfather, a bigoted old man of whom I have spoken before. However, I have come to admire Rob Reiner over the years for his work and social positions. I have to say though, Diaper Don is Archie Bunker on steroids and then some. His movie really seems interesting not only as a commentary on the coverage of the war in Iraq, but as a commentary on today’s news.

It seems that those in Diaper Don’s sphere are interested in amassing power which is probably what attracts Diaper Don to them. … birds of feather and all that! Personally, I think it wise to hold her in jail until trial as she’ll fly back to Putie in the blink of an eye and another, an unknown other, will take her place. Some one has to mind the sand box for Putie. Diaper Don needs to be gone . . . NOW!!!
